your NEW WEF GOD... globalists, you should be embarrassed.

Following Schwab’s sudden resignation, the World Economic Forum has named Peter Brabeck-Letmathe — ex-CEO of Nestlé...

A man who once said “water is not a human right” now holds the reins of the most powerful unelected globalist body on Earth.

these are your saviors?
Democrats have always been dislodged from humanity at the top of the party.
Not since 1963 have they had a single good thing to say.

Schu making radical political comments instead of posting the dumbest **** imaginable without a word?

Things must really be getting bad

Why was the thing they said in 1963? Good shot?

Sure especially because it never happened before in world history even for diseases which were exceptionally worse, that's why it was defensible i suppose.

Especially a lockdown where masses were banned like in italy sure.

That hardly matters. I didn't catch a cold for over a year, which I'm counting as a win, though obviously the economic effect was pretty awful.

It actually does to defend something that no society in human history never did before. It requires truly exceptional reasons, and proof beyond the slightest even vague doubt of being absolutely certain, to even entertain the idea of doing something that was never did before and violates fundamental human rights.

It requires events that never happened before to even start the conversation. Like a disease significantly worse than anything humanity ever faced before.

Btw it wasn't only economic damage. Delaying couple formation (because young adults CAN'T MEET) or destroying couples just created (because by law they are forbidden to see each other) annihilates future fertility and that alone is much worse than delaying the deaths of over 80. That alone is more than enough to stipulate to never do lockdowns again without exceptions (if a diseases is actually dangerous enough, the problem will be the opposite, not forcing people to stay at home).

Then you have devastation in education outcomes especially for lower SES households.

Personally I have heard of it but have no idea what it does. Who exactly do you think worships this organization?

More nonsense

The Black Death wiped out a third of Europe’s population, and here you are saying that mortality rate wouldnt be enough to justify lock downs.

Exactly, there would be absolutely no need for state mandate lockdowns if a disease with 30% mortality appeared.

The problem would be the opposite, how to violently force enough people (of the right kind, those with the skillsets to have actual essential production and services going) to go out to "keep the lights on" and avoid everyone starving to death.

That is absolutely obvious and you know that.

There is no disease for which lockdowns can make sense. If it is deadly enough, you have the opposite problem to avoid society collapsing. If it isn't deadly enough (and the people decide, not you, they decide individually), then society goes on and that's it, that's the only reason you could entertain lockdowns, to avoid catastrophic collapse.

You don't even think of limiting *UNALIENABLE RIGHTS* if the absolute collapse of society isn't at play as a potential scenario. You don't even think of touching unalienable rights to "optmize" risk or to "try to reduce risk".

That's why they are called unalienable rights.

What we should discuss is how you violently force people to risk their lives when, if they don't, everyone dies. That would be the actual problem in a true pandemic, and we aren't close to solve that.

Lucy really loves his superlatives.

They are basically an above the board illuminati. Its just a collection of the worlds richest and most powerful people coming together to pontificate on the future. I dunno what meaningful impact we can attribute to the WEF, but shaming "globalists" for the WEFs existence is misguided at best.

It's the WEF being "kings of globalism" (in the worst possible sense: not trade, rather imposing a monoculture worldwide) and attempting to shape institutions and policies.

They don't just pontificate. They propose policies and give help to politicians that try to implement them. They embrace all neoliberal technocratic solutions they can find, everything that disempowers elected bodies and gives power to unlected burocrats or even better, unelected private sector companies they control who win contracts from unelected burocrats.

They agree with you leftists on the climate and everything that is culturally salient (LGBT and wokism when it was fashioanable and so on).

You just described how Trump and co are restructuring the US

Nothing in this world can provide such confidence in almost everything ….
What you ask is unrealistic and yet you are ready to believe very dubious stuff with almost no proofs at all ….

Again for such issues you should learn and use Bayesian stats …

Bayesian statistics is a statistical approach that uses probability to express and update beliefs about unknown parameters, based on prior knowledge and new data. It's rooted in Bayes' theorem and allows for incorporating subjective beliefs and updating them with evidence

U got a lot of beliefs that needs dramatic updates .

Ps: in 25 years everyone will laugh at luciom position on how much those lockdown was pure evil and created irremediably damages .
It will be like a little blip you see on the S&P 500 chart when a “big crisis” happens when u expand the chart large enough .

Funny the length they are ready to go against the evil students but not when big corporations or the top 1% do tax frauds , tax evasion and every other illegal stuff ….

Isn’t it that what you like for your own ?
A monolostic “libertarian” state/country while putting down to death everything left of you ?

You nailed it

So Harvard going against trump on legal issue because trump overextend his power on stuff about education (administration and other stuff) he shouldn’t have ?

But didn’t trump precisely wanted to abolish the department of education for no interference from the federal government and yet here we are ?

Or did trump wanted to eradicate the department of education so it makes easier for him to dictate federal “policies” in education establishment?

So in essence it wasn’t to give back education power to the state , it was just another power grab by trump .
Increasing the scope by centralizing even more power into 1 man .
That’s equating for more freedom and less tyranny all right ….

Exactly what I'd expect. America's a kleptocracy now and was heading that way for decades anyway (look at the wealth of most previous Presidents etc).

A portion of the right has been wanting to abolish the DoE since a while ago, simply because education is a state matter not a federal one, the feds should only deal with the topics the constitution explicitly lists under congress or potus powers and nothing else.

Trump v Harvard is about Harvard being tax exempt even while raking in billions in profit. That's predicated on purported "social good" generated by harvard (and others like it).

What is a good social externality that justifies tax exemption or other benefits i hope you agree has to be determined by elected politicians and no one else, that's purely a political decision.

Then there is the matter of federal funds for research, that are under "education" only because of the bizzarre arrangement we have in society where research and education are mixed in the same institutions (even if that makes absolutely no sense at all).

So in essence it's about why should society subsidize entities with 50 billions if they act in ways that elected politicians think are bad for society (ie they promote leftism)?

Then there is the question "why should society subsidize research" (this can make sense) and why, if it chooses to do so, should it be by paying leftist entities ? if the right wins, it has a moral and legal right to redirect money toward entities that are rightwing, if the notion is "positive social externalities" definitionally a rightwing person would consider any promotion of any leftist value as detrimental for society, not positive (and viceversa).

Colleges should have avoided eve rpromoting any idea that wasn't fully bipartisanly supported. They chose to become loudspeakers for the most horrific radical leftist ideas.

It is not a "power grab" to remove any and all public subsidisies from entities that act in a partisan way. It is normal politics and long overdued.

But i fear nothing will come out of it anyway, even if it would be very good to completly remove all federal subsidies to leftist colleges.

Do you have an alert that sounds after Luciom finishes a post so you can be the first to follow with a name-call or some other inanity?

Could be wrong but I thought dept of education was just for K-12 and not universities.

Somehow every other time I open any thread will have a post of his.
That's to be expected when you post 150 times/day.
He also does make me want to vomit if that wasn't obvious.

Now that you say it, it looks like I posted 45min after his post, that's quite the shitty alarm.
