Anybody only max late regging tournies. Especially WSOP
Wondering if anyone has any significant sample of pure max late regs
Especially with WSOP. I'v been told they pay a high % of field with a high min cash relative to buy in which favours a MLR strat.
Yes obviously early regging is higher ev etc but playing for days on end is tiring and I'm unclear it increases your ROI by that much especially in big fields. Seems like a very legitimate strategy especially to conserve energy.
For the last 1-2 years, 90%+ tournies I play online and live is pure MLR (or regging last level) with around 10-20% ROI (live + online). I find revolving my play schedule around MLR gives me a structure/rhythm to my grind. Obviously you have to be good at short stack and tank sometimes etc.
Interested in anyone's thoughts.

I never late reg in live tourneys (unless I have to cuz I was running late). I think it is really important to show up on time and get reads on your opponents that will prove to be valuable in decision making later on. I think it is especially bad to late reg for PKOs (because you want to start accumulating the bounties from the get go).
OTOH ... online ... where I have substantial reads already on the regs and where it doesn't necessarily matter because we are anonymous I systematically late reg for tourneys that have attendances around 150 entries. I find that my cash rate is quite hi with these scenarios. With OL large field tourneys where I will be playing on the same table for a while from the get go I try to focus on my reads just like I do in a live event. But! If you're gonna be multi-tabling or watching TV or doing the laundry while you're playing this is still futile because the whole point is to borrow in and focus on your opponents so you can utilize your reads later in the game (especially with the anonymous tables).
Lastly, one more thought on late regging live: I think there might be one exception (and I have never done this so not sure) where if you're in Vegas and there a bunch of tournies going on you can late reg and if you don't make the cash then you can hop a cab and jump to the next tournament down the street. You'd have to be very organized with your scheduling so you don't miss the late reg and you're willing to rebuy I imagine....
