Diabolical poker advice
Which commonly used poker advice drives you totally nuts with its utter lunacy?

See, I always took it as GTO base unless it was a fish saying it. I think context matters here fellas. If Jonathon Little types say 'play ABC poker' he means 'Play GTO base'. If a fish at the local 1/2 says 'play abc poker', they mean 'don't bluff, play good hands, lay down bad hands'.I'm probably wrong, but that was my interpretation.Hungry Horse Poker raises to see where
Actually, having watched all the HHP videos, most of them multiple times, I don't recall him ever advocating to raise for information. Just the opposite, he's typically checking from OOP to gain that same info, or c-betting small in position.
Playing GTO can't be ABC, because playing GTO requires finding unintuitive lines with unintuitve hands. Playing ABC by definition means playing in a straight-forward way.
I do think context is king yeah.
Ok to be honest. My thoughts about the meaning of ABC poker have evolved since I started this thread. I think it may be more useful than I thought.
Even if there are discrepancies it still conveys an ethos quite quickly at a high frequency hit rate (which is always a plus 1 for complex ****). And if it misses it can still be explained fairly easily. Most people understand play ABC means don't be a ****ing maniac.
I'm considering having it removed from the diabolical vault pending appeal.
Check for information lowkey underrated
Play ABC poker doesnβt mean the same as play GTO. Quite the contrary. Playing ABC poker usually means raise your strong hands, bet flops where you hit and fold when you donβt. It is just very straightforward and obvious poker. It means NOT doing things that GTO says you should (like 4-betting A5s preflop as a bluff or making hero calls with bluffcatchers against large river bet
Exactly this. It's very easy to implement and works in any soft pool. You won't be crushing but you will be winning.

Let me rephrase.
"Hungry Horse Poker raises to see where he is at in all his videos *that I've seen*."
I haven't watched every one of his videos, but in the shorts and content I have watched he was advocating for donk bets, here is one where he states you should donk bet when fish is between yourself a...
In the shorts (that I've seen), he was stating "raise to see where we're at". There is no indicator for shorts like there are for videos that will show me which ones I watched otherwise i'd be able to link those as well. It's also possible he was being sarcastic in those clips, and I wasn't paying enough attention. He has very dry humor.
You were right to call me out though; I haven't seen all his videos. The ones I did see were exactly as I stated though. I trust he says check OOP, and bet IP, because I think he said similar on solve for why podcast...I think, it might have been a short where he said it too. IDK.
Here's another one: "Don't bluff the fish"
Yeah that's a good one. Every letter in that phrase is diabolical and totally wrong.
10x worse than do not bluff the fish, is do not ever bluffcatch vs fish because they don't bluff enough π
I get irate when people tell me 23o isn't a good bluffing hand, and you should fold it.Low equity hands are excellent bluffing candidates because every time they succeed you're stealing equity from the other player. Don't bluff call stations, or pot committed players.People yell 'no, if you open 23o you're an idiot!', and I just can't take the
You don't think you are going to be overbluffing if you are playing 23 off? Why not only play small suited connectors.
Your vpip is how much?
