MuckPls vs BigWhale - a WSOP June TR
Hey everyone! Figured since everything is booked on my part I will go ahead and fire a thread. After a disastrous last t
I dont think its mandatory. You can still go to the cage with cash and your passport and ITIN. Can you imagine the 1000 odd Super Seniors being forced to use an app?
ETA: Well I was wrong. GG Super Seniors. I wont be playing any WSOP events either as I won't have a phone in Vegas quite simply because I dont need one!
Its really really bad, and add the 3% cc fee for players buying in with a card…
Someone should inform Kevmath they are losing business with the stupid WSOP+ requirement.
Apparently you don't need the WSOP+ app, just a WSOP+ account and those can be sorted at the cage/in person. Be interesting to see what they do with holidaymakers from overseas who just have their passport though. Who carries a bank statement on holiday?

Obviously it will vary from country to country, but presumably I could use my passport + my driving licence; the former doesn't have my address but the latter does.
Otherwise I'd just bring a recent water bill :p
Would an ITIN (the physical paper) be valid for proof of address if it has my address on it? It’s an official US paper so surely should be accepted?

Can't see why not. Probably more likely to be accepted than some random utility bill from the UK that the person doing the in-person registration will have never seen before and be like "wtf is this?" 😃
Last time I played the Seniors, I happened to have my Global Entry card with me from the flight. For those who don't know, it's a US State Department issued ID which lets one go through customs & immigration in a snap when traveling internationally (among other benefits).
Nope, no good, despite the rules at the time saying, "...a government-issued photo ID." Of course, I had my DL with me, and registered. It was just that I had the Global Entry card in the same pocket as my buy-in.
So, I'd say that, despite what they write, it's whatever the person at the cage at that moment feels is good enough.

Why would they need your address? They're getting awfully invasive. I'm not sure I would install WSOP+ even if I could. Who knows what sneaky tracking crap it's doing?
Sorry, so you MUST have the app to buy into events?
I copy/pasted the below text from "wsop.com/WSOP Live Poker/Tournament Rules". 3a clearly states that one can register in person at the WSOP registration area located within the Casino. If memory serves, this is across a hall from the Paris tournament area. So, what's all this talk about registration ONLY being available through the WSOP+ app?

That's contrary to the other rule that says you must have a WSOP+ account.
I did a Pokerstars NAPT tournament last year at Resorts World, and you had to have the Pokerstars app to register. they had staff and a welcome desk that walked you through getting the app so it wasn't too bad
I haven't done a WSOP event, but after doing PS it's not surprising WSOP would be the same
This insistence on using the app reminds me of The Office and Ryan’s insistence that everyone use the website to log sales.

WSOP+: Participant must have an active WSOP+ account to register for any WSOP Event. WSOP+ can be downloaded at
or by downloading the application directly from the Apple (IOS Devices) or Google (Android Devices) Store. Registration is free. Terms of Service for WSOP+ can be found here. This seems like another both things can be true debate.
Yes, you must have an active WSOP+ account. But that doesn't mean you must use the app to register.
It appears that once you have the account (which I assume you must use the app to set up), you can still register in person at the window. What is NOT clear is that doing it this way means you have to use the app. I am GUESSING when you register in person they somehow verify you have an open account.
Even more guess on my part, is that long term (years and not this year), the WSOP+ account will in some fashion replace the requirement you be a Caesars rewards member. Thus making the WSOP event more portable since it is no longer (or will not be) linked as closely to CET.
But hey, I don't play tournaments or at least haven't in over a decade so what would I know.
For you guys who don't want to download the app, they've made clear you can register without the app so long as you set up a WSOP+ account -- which WSOP can do for you in-person (though yes it's going to take longer at the verification line).
A Caesars card/account was already a requirement to enter, so it's not shocking or really all that different that GG is also signing everyone up to their company accounts.
I think Muck's issue is a bit different in that he needs to be verified as a resident in a particular country for his ITIN to avoid a tax hit if he wins, right?
Either way like Muck said there are tournaments all over town...

Don’t quote me on this but I saw a tweet from Kevmath saying that the kiosks where you print your seat tickets have been removed and that you will use the app for your seat assignment. If that is true then you have to use the app
From the WSOP FAQ:
Q. What if I don’t have a smartphone?
A. On-site staff can assist you with creating your WSOP+ account. You will need a verifiable email address. Physical tickets can be printed out for tournament registrations.

What I see coming is more and longer lines. Wait in the reg line, then be told to get in the WSOP+ line to get my seat.
Based on Bahamas, it'll be way faster for the people who use the app and buyin with the app. There was no waiting at all.
