SB posts SB 0.4 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.4 BB) Hero has K A

fold, MP raises to 2.4 BB, fold, Hero raises to 7.2 BB, SB calls 6.8 BB, fold, fold

Flop: (17.8 BB, 2 players) 4 9 9
SB checks, Hero bets 5.8 BB, SB calls 5.8 BB

Turn: (29.4 BB, 2 players) 3
SB bets 9.2 BB, Hero?

First one of the reasons I posted this is because I tend to struggle when it comes to ranging players that flat in the small blind even vs a standard RFI let alone a 3 bet because I play a 3 bet or fold strategy from the small blind.

I feel kind of lost in situations like this because it is very hard for me to try to range villain. So any help regarding assigning a range to players who do flat from the SB would be great.

Can be a 9, a 4, a pocket pair, 56, flush draw. Raising is cool because you can fold better (a 4) and get called by worse (flush draw) and if you get called you have A and K outs to a very strong hand.

Thank you for taking the time to respond

Raising becomes even better if villain is a weaker player who would have bet bigger with his strong hands.

I check the flop quite a bit, in these situations where I don’t have the nut range advantage. As the SB I often check raise the flop on these types of boards.

As played I would fold the turn. Even though the 3c suggests that he may have picked up some form of draw and it is possible you may be folding the best hand.

I don’t think raising is terrible either.

Thank you for all the feedback!
