I’m seeing frustrated people with unmet desires continue to call other people dumb.

Reminder, intelligence is the ability to actualize and fulfill your desires.

Any other definition of intelligence is cope.

I don't think stupidity is the main problem for most bad posters. There are a couple of people here who are dumb by the standards of the general public, but not many.

by Rococo m

Is this response supposed to be an argument for why your definition of intelligence is superior to the dictionary definition?

It’s a claim.

Society can only offer meanings and definitions for those who stay within the bounds of the social, but the shared social reality only has access to a part of what capital β€˜R’ Reality can offer.

Intelligence is ambitious and attuned to desire, so it will seek beyond the social boundaries.

Of course, intelligence which transcends the social will not fit into society’s definition of β€˜intelligence’.

You sound like my ex gf who really liked rocks and hallucinogenics

The first step is to identify with intelligence, but soon after this, your mind will try to convince you that you’re already sufficiently intelligent when you’re really not. It does this in order to prevent you from following intelligence on the intelligence journey.

This is why the only way to truly become intelligent is to de-identify with intelligence (after first identifying with it), so you are free to follow it on the journey.

IQ is correlated with intelligence, but they are not the same. People who equate their IQ to intelligence are the people who are being manipulated by their mind so as to avoid the intelligence journey.

I’m sure I don’t.

The bounds of the social are marked by chasms, not ropes. Ropes can be cut or elegantly fashioned into bridges that traverse the chasm. But the chasm cannot be leapt over as a stream. It must be transcended in order to be traversed. In this way, ropes can be thought of as essential to transcendence. But not if the ropes are viewed as bindings, either to the social reality or within the social reality. The rope has no true nature. It desires to be a bridge as much as a barrier, not because the rope is intelligent but rather because it yearns for actualization, or more precisely, to be actualized.

I’m sure I don’t.

Forget hallucinogenics bro, lithium is where it's at.

by craig1120 m

I’m sure I don’t.

Ethereal psychobable is extremely prevalent in the roving festival hippy crowd

It's portmanteau, not portmandeu. No one calls anyone Gazzy here. Getting small things wrong is no big deal unless you're aggressively wrong at the same time, rick.

we literally have a gary here that goes by gazzy online

figured you were some arabic fella who's parents gave the english name fred and you wanted to jazz it up for your online name - which again, is far less of a stretch than an homage to a 6th tier curry which you oddly insist is nepalese

by chillrob m

I thought Browser was too, though I could be remembering incorrectly.

by jalfrezi m

Haven't been there for a decade or so but the Great Nepalese in Eversholt St used to do a great one. A regular refuelling point after weeknight drinks.

Txs. I shall put it to the committee next time were at the Euston tap.

by Rococo m

WTF is the matter with you?

I wish there were no mass-shootings, but if they're going to happen then a church is far better than a school or other public place.

I'm hopeful if the gun-worshippers lose enough of their own maybe they will realize that some restrictions need to be in place.

by geezerchess m

In my opinion, that's not a fair summary on chillrob's view. It's not so much the "belief system" he hates, it's the bad things that he thinks religious folks are doing that he has a problem with.

Honestly it's both. I know many religious people are fine and good, but I think they could be without religion.

"With or without religion, good people can behave well and bad people can do evil; but for good people to do evil - that takes religion."
Steven Weinberg

Yeah, because at least you get a "kick" out of the mass shootings in churches, unlike the shootings at movie theaters or concerts. The Charleston church shooting in 2015 must have had you in stitches.

by craig1120 m

I’m sure I don’t.

I'm pretty sure you do, assuming coordi's description of his former girlfriend is accurate.

by coordi m

Religion is nearly universally bad but practitioners are mostly just dumb or scared, not evil

I don't think of myself as scared or evil, but I'll let others assess my dumbness.

@d2_e4?

Chillrob is in the Batman story, and in that story, if you refuse to identify with Batman, then you will gradually become the Joker.

There is no third option.

What in Sam Hill are you babbling about?

I already gave the reason.

Don't worry, I'm not going to start shooting anyone myself.

by chillrob m

I already gave the reason.

You didn't give a reason why mass shootings in churches amuse you. You just said that you preferred for mass shootings to occur in churches rather than other public places.

by chillrob m

Don't worry, I'm not going to start shooting anyone myself.

The place you’re at is more dire than you are admitting to yourself. An appropriate level of fear is required. This is coming from someone who has been there.

It’s like the Joker said in The Dark Knight, all it may take is a little push under the right circumstances.

by Rococo m

It’s not rational. Asking for a reason might get you a rationalization, but it’s not going to resolve the issue.

Violence is ontological, which means it’s embedded deeper in humanity than nature.

by craig1120 m

Violence is blah waffle psychobabble

Your shtick is well past wearing thin at this point.
