Chair Etiquette

Chair Etiquette

I got a thousand complaints and this is a new one. People bumping their chair into me. I hate it. I let it slide which is a mistake, because they then do it repeatedly. These people generally have no etiquette in any other area either. A player tonight has his chair turned completely sideways because he is eating off a small table while playing. He actually asks the other player on the other side to scoot over so he has more space. He then proceeds to continuously back his chair into me. I adjust my position to make this less likely and he keeps doing it. The table breaks and he's done eating and he keeps backing his f*cking chair into me while getting settled. He's a 100% as*hole every session. He always tells/asks for me to change his chips when the table breaks and now I say no now because I hate him. How do I deal with this and other people that make no effort to not bump into me? I don't see any other players complain about this.

i know the type, has happened to me as well.
simple solution:

1. tell him (really friendly, and mean it): "Sir, you keep bumping into me, can you pls stop doing that?"
2. if he continues (bc he's an ******* or simply doesnt give a ****): turn your chair and bumb into him, while he's eating ... that will get his attention.

i used to (try to) ignore that kind of stuff (not worth it, childish, bla bla), but at the end it's disturbing your peace of mind, and if you ask him friendly once or twice to stop and he doesn't, you have every right to stop it in another way.

Get a seat change lammer and/or ask for a table change. Last thing you want to do is reciprocate the behavior. That will get you both removed eventually. That player is never going to change.

hmm ...and what do you do if there's somebody on that other table doing the same thing? Or something else, that bothers you? eventually you will run out of tables to run from ...

some guys are just *******s, but there's also people out there you do this or other weird stuff on purpose to get into people's heads, to get them off their game ... and by not confronting it, you'll allow that. Minus EV

I sometimes call for the Floor depending on the kind of behavior.

One time at Foxwoods a guy was rubbing his leg against mine under the table. I'm not gay and I have no idea if he was gay or not but he wouldn't stop when I asked him to. So I called a Floor over and told him what was happening. The Floor told him to knock it off. And it stopped happening. If it had happened again my guess is that the Floor would have removed him from the table or possibly banned him for 24 hours or forever.

This is actually the wildest post I’ve ever seen on this site, well done

Depending on how blatant it was, especially after you asked him to stop,
I don't think I would have been comfortable with him remaining in that seat.

I'll bet if you were a female, the floor would have been a bit more aggressive.

If I was running into so many players that were bothering me that I couldn't move away, I'd start considering whether the problem was with them or with me. The way you prevent people from getting into your head is to not let them to begin with.

I was assuming that the OP was a dealer from the line in the OP that talks about changing chips, which would make a seat change button interesting. Why would the sideways chair guy ask or tell another PLAYER to change their chips?

“Dealer can you square up the table please? I don’t have any room.”

That’s always an option.

“Hey man, can you give me a little room please? You keep bumping into me. Appreciate it.”

That’s a more direct option.

If people do stuff like this, always speak up in a polite manner. If they don't stop have the security escorting them onto the street.

Back in the old days, the good old mafia casino dudes, would have escorted him into the backyard and just knocked his fkn teeth out.
I believe the learning curve from such an experience was much higher for some scumbags. Some people just need that.

I had a buddy with a handicap sitting in the #1 seat next to me getting bumped by the guy at the next table over. He said something to the guy and the guy told him tough luck.

I switched seats with my buddy and loudly declared it would be tough luck if it happened again (I am slightly bigger than my buddy). It didn't happen again.

I would have told the guy to stop flirting with you and either give you a handy or go somewhere else.

I always finds posts like these to be strange. No matter have big/tough you are, you are going to lose any fight with security/the police.

I totally understand defending oneself when necessary (I have had it happen to me), but seeking out physical conflict is just dumb. You are not just fighting the other person, you are also fighting security and the police.

Don't be dumb.

Who sought out a fight with security? Learn to read.

Yeah, loudly declaring it will be tough luck for anyone who bumps you sounds like you're threatening to get physical, which is the sort of thing that generally gets security involved.

LOL it has nothing to do with reading. You threatened another player with physical harm if his actions continued. When you get in a physical confrontation in a casino, security will get involved whether you like it or not and you will lose that confrontation every single time no matter how big and bad you think you are.

Don't be dumb by threatening physical violence in a casino. You will lose that battle every single time tough guy.

Exactly. I had an excessively grumpy guy pushing 80yo angrily challenge me to a fight bc I dared opine that baseball was slowly dying.

There's no verbal or physical response I can make where I can "win" anything that matters. Although I think the table would have applauded if I had beaten the #$%% out of that guy. He was a greatly hated reg.

Seems like the guy might have been more interested in giving him a footy.

Call the Fire Marshall. Management is probably trying to squeeze as many tables as possible into the room to maximize revenue and they might be violating some sort of code.
