The NHL Thread
For the 5 of us who post NHL stuff, here you go. Officially the season starts Tuesday October 11, although there were tw
what kind of odds can i get on a sweep?
Welp
sorry canes
Yikes CAR
If they Canes played in a frenzier media market I cant imagine how loud the calls would be to blow it up, go after a star goalie, fire the coach etc.
We're in a tough spot roster wise. We're a top 5-7 team itl, but the problem is, the top 2-3 teams are a tier or 2 above and we can't overcome it. We don't have the firepower to beat the elite.
But it's not like they aren't trying. We traded for Guentzel last year and lost him to FA. We traded for Rantanen this year and ended up with an unexpected **** show. We've let other guys go and brought in new guys. Rod is a hell of a coach who has had one of the best starts ever to a coaching career. Goalie is definitely a common problem that I hope we can upgrade in the near future.
****
Getting humbled again. Florida is simply better. Even if it's somehow not a sweep, we have no chance.
14 straight conference finals losses incoming.

I’ve never been to Charlotte but looks nice and great place to play
Maybe that was the problem with Guentzel and Rantanen- they looked forward to Charlotte and ended up in Raleigh
Charlotte is nice. But the Canes are based in Raleigh haha.
yeah you know what, a metro division team hasn't been in the final since the capitals won in 2018. think it's roughly equal parts them being bad and the atlantic being good
It's a fair point. The Metro hasn't even made it to a game 7 in the CF during that stretch.
Another Fun Fact:
Of course, nothing comes easy in the playoffs. Especially these playoffs, especially for Duchene. When Rantanen’s shot went wide and banked off the end boards to Duchene in the corner of the goalmouth, with Oilers goalie Stuart Skinner well out of position and an open net staring him in the face, Duchene shot the puck right into a fallen Roope Hintz’s backside.
If ever there were a more apt metaphor for Duchene’s postseason so far, that was it — “par for the course this postseason for me,” he said. But the puck bounced off Hintz’s butt and right back to Duchene, and the veteran got the second try over and in. It put the “ass” in assist for Hintz, but more importantly, it put Duchene on the scoresheet.
Congratulations @rickroll for already sewing up the bracket challenge.
We're all really bad at this.

funny thing is the one thing i was very wrong about was winnipeg and winnipeg was where i found all the mispriced series and futures lines so i've lost heavily on these playoffs with wpg -1.5 in stl series, wpg win conference and wpg win cup
i love how they basically never call boarding or charging anymore, and then they just do to start a game. the inconsistency is so absurd
evened up with another really stupid one by the loilers. if they're gonna spazz out when you stand in the proximity of the crease doing nothing, do it every time i guess? free money
To be fair there's no real consistency in calling that either. Seems that the epidemic of facewashing every time the goalie freezes a puck isn't as bad as it was 10-15 years aho though. Or maybe I was just watching too many Bruins games back then.
til switzerland/denmark is a world championship semifinal
is this the year switzerland finally joins the gold club??? no. no it is not
wait, also usa#1 haven't won since 1960? wtf
i guess they brought a young team this year seeing as how their leading scorer is some guy i've never heard of called frank nazar. host swedes should handle them, but who knows huh
