For me, there's a very big difference between highway travel time and and the time I spend waiting behind all these goddamned buses.
I'll take a 25 minute drive at 80mph over a 20 minute rage-inducing low speed trek through city streets any day of the week. I can drive on auto-pilot in the first case, but I'm forced to constantly dodge light-running hoopties without license plates in the second.
Same for shopping in the city vs out in the boonies. Waiting in a line behind 15 people at a busy store is much more irritating than driving an extra few minutes to get to a less hectic one with self-checkout lanes if you live in the boonies. Not to mention, the city store is likely to be a parking shitshow but the rural store being hassle-free.
Out in the country, you can leave your 10 year old home alone for a while without nosy neighbors calling CPS so maybe you don't even need a babysitter.
If it wasn't so expensive to build, I'd move back to the true burbs in a heartbeat.
It's why small town life is pretty nice because you can combine what makes rural areas nice with the conveniences of a city. It's quiet and you don't have to drive 20 minutes to get to the nearest gas station.
And especially now in the US where you can have almost anything you need delivered
I think I might have lived in every sort of place there is to live-- college towns, in the sticks outside of college towns, big ass metropolisis like Buenos Aires, small towns in the US, small towns in South America, the suburbs.
Of all those the suburbs are the worst. You don't really get the best of anything. You have to drive someplace probably for nature, you don't have the atmosphere or vibrancy of a city, the roads aren't fun to drive, every other block is some big box store. I suppose if you want someplace safe to raise a family ok.
If you can't be within viewing distance of a cornstalk or the regional equivalent after a 5 minute walk from home, you're not far enough out.
When I hear gunshots on my porch, I want to know it's just deer season, not simply a day that ends in 'y'.
I lived overlooking vineyards on the hills nearby the city center for almost a decade and I thought it was fine and all until all the shitshow of bad weather and random disservices started to happen.
Like your commute doubling in time because the normal street is blocked one week for a small landslide, electricity being randomly cut during snow and so on.
Now I walk to stores, physicians, school
In theory you do but in practice you're online punching keys all day long.
If i buy something on debit that costs. 1.06. It will cost me 1.06.
If something costs 1.06 and I have exactly 1.06 in cash, It costs 1.06. (for as long as pennies stay legal tender or are accepted)
If I buy somethinh that costs 1.06 and I give a $5, then it rounds up.
Actually it rounds down to $1.05!
Some stores might have a "We Round Down!" campaign to lure customers.

You really do have some sort of psychological thing about "radical leftists". You should see a specialist.
jalfrezi doesn't realize it has been a while since mobile phones have been invented and people can write on a forum while , say, waiting for the water to boil to put the pasta in
Pasta? More like the bunny.

Lefties getting involved with 3d printed guns is a gauranteed way to lose the next civil war. Thoae guns are dog **** and youd be better with a sling shot after not owning one at all.

a guy who is a member of an ultra radical micro socialist party in the USA just assassinated 2 Israeli diplomats.
you should try to check reality because those who deny radical leftists exist and are incredibly violent are those who need specialists
I did something I pretty much never do and watched a video discussed in a political context. There is nothing in it that video teaches people anything as it does not go into any detail. Furthermore, the subject has been covered for years in the US media.
Making an article on how a killer made his weapon is actually an interesting spin on the debate on 3d printed weapons.
-
Anyways, some light googling revealed some further extremist content for your perusal:
Here is an article from Fox News from September last year with a video about 3d-printing gun parts.
https://www.foxnews.com/us/3d-printers-t...
Here is an opinion piece published by Fox News from 2018, arguing that you don't need to legislate against 3d printed guns and that will actually be a good thing to get more guns on the street as it will reduce gun violence:

Other than that, a look at Wired's front page reveals that it has the audacity to be very critical of president Donald Trump and the current US administration, which I guess is the real reason for the faux outrage. The icing on the cake would be if the outrage was served up by some social media pundit.

Nobody is denying radical leftists exist and nobody is denying that some of them are violent. There are many people and groups in the world that exist and are violent, and your obsessive preoccupation with and paranoia about one of them is why you need help.

I need to push against them almost exclusively because of the fact that "polite society" doesn't, and minimizes the threat systematically, and people in this forum do as well.
We have been going through years of 24/7 coverage of a purported "rightwing extremism threat" in europe and in the usa which is *exceptionally less dangerous* than the radical leftist threat is.
That's the context as to why i keep pounding about the radical left violence and threat to society.
Radical leftism is the root cause of most of our societal problems. Including the radical right very existence which only happens because of widespread radical leftism (you know, "reactionary", they react to the radical left).
For every single killer on the radical left there are millions of people who go to sleep happy that someone they dislike got brutally murdered in our countries. Those are the very same people who then vote to destroy the soul of our countries by pushing for unfilterd immigration of low skilled religious nuts.
Those are the very same people who atetmpted to mutilate and sterilize as many minors as they could.
Those are the very same people applying systemic anti-(east) asian and anti-white racism in college application and hiring.
Those are the very same people trying to "decolonize" math, and destroy all western culture legacy in academia and education in general.
Those are the very same people denying IQ and biological sex exist.
Those are the very same people who wanted lockdowns, mask mandates, vax mandates for covid.
They are an existential threat to our societies. The focus of domestic politics above all should be to remove them from any position of power in society, to clean our societies from that cancer.
And people are realizing that, but given "very serious people" with center-right tendencies like you deny they are such a threat, the people who realize the magnitude of the threat necessarily end up radicalized and voting for radical rightwing parties.
The extent of support Mangione got should have been a wake up call. But it isn't because "orange man bad".
Radical thought--people should have a livable wage, clean environment, freedom etc
Reactionary thought--no

Per capita global gdp is VERY far from allowing that to be possible even with perfect equality (which by itself is impossible to achieve as well), would you acknowledge that?
So given you are basically asking for free ponies for every individual on the planet, and are willing to destroy society if you don't achieve that, what exactly are we supposed to do in reaction if we realize you have an impossible goal and are willing to use unlimited violence to try to achieve it?
I'm not going to reply to this, because a) my point stands in the post above b) this is not a post from someone in a good state of mind.
You should quit social media. And I'm not saying that as an insult.
Listing out the problems caused by the existence of a large number of radical leftist shows someone is "not in a good state of mind" lol.
I get it, that's how you guys cope with that, just denying the problem and it's size.
But please, please, don't act shocked when in many countries a growing number of absolutely normal people realize the above and vote accordingly. And no that's not russian propaganda.

We have the resources. People have been making the argument we don't for ages now--when the number of people was a fraction of what it is now.
How is denying the row access/while simultaneously sucking them dry so a tiny few can live comfortably the best model?

We do not, and not because "the earth can't allow it" (that's bullshit leftism), that's not my argument (which for some people was the argument "for ages"), my argument is per capita gdp.
We would have those resources IF you want to keep the equality topic aside, if everyone was as productive as americans. But one of , if not the biggest reason why americans are more productive is the lower welfare and regulation lol. People DO NOT work the same if they get a lot of stuff "for free" anyway. Productivity BY HOUR WORKED in some european countries is as high as in the USA, but people work less. Because they are taxed horrendously on the marginal hours, at the high end. And because they get the basics anyway even if they don't work too much, on the low end.
We DO NOT have the resources for every household who wants to on the planet to have a decent car, decent jobs which pay 60-70k/household per year, free good quality healthcare , free good quality schools, "clean environment" in the sense you guys mean it today (so it's not even enough right now even if it's exceptionally less polluted than 100 years ago where we live, you want 0 co2 emissions and so on) and so on and on.
Even in freaking denmark there are people who live lives you would be disgusted by, in terms of access to material resources and services. Free healthcare and education yes but 60sqmeters, 5 people, no car. Meat once per week and mostly poultry or the cheap parts of pork.

the best model is what works best for me, my family, and my friends. that's the ethos of normal people, including many who claim otherwise. If that set of people, the only ones i actually care about, are fine somehow, a billion people elsewhere can die tomorrow and i don't give any actual **** unless it materially degrades my quality of life, or my family quality of life, or my friends quality of life.
The nice thing is that the system which achieves that does allow for widespread prosperity (rightwing libertarian capitalism), ofc it doesn't guarantee everyone in a rich country will live well, nevermind people elsewhere.

Of course, the real reason T_D won't address your post is because everything you said in it is true (imo).
Far easier to attack the alleged mental state of a poster than to address their actual points.
