Yeah I guess my point is you are going to have to register at some point regardless but this just turns it into only once, and then you don't have to wait at any lines. Why exactly are you planning on still using the cage only?

Because I am coming into town to just play one tournament, and I intend to buy in with cash rather than pay any fees. I agree that if I were playing multiple events, the app is very convenient.

Evidently the app is also where you get new seat assignments when your table breaks, looks like floormen aren’t flinging out seat cards anymore.

Loosely WSOP related food tip - Flavortown has a new "all you can eat buffet" M-F from 8-2.If you don't have a reservation, prepare to wait 45 minutes. If you do have one, prepare to order your food and wait 45 minutes. It isn't a traditional buffet. They have a menu you order two entrees from. This is their first week doing it and they don't know how to handle the volume so it

I say at the bar as as single and sat right away, but food did take 45 minutes.

Both things I got were good and the woman next to me said everything is good.

The bartender was somewhat useless. I asked if I could use my drink vouchers and he said "not now". He did seem swamped.

I was under the impression that any employees, regardless of position, in the casino industr, can not enter tournaments, for obvious reason. Maybe, I mis-understand your post.

Your impression is that it was true and also obvious that, say, a blackjack dealer at Aria, would be barred from entering a poker tournament in any casino in the world??

How could that be either true or obvious? How exactly would they know?

I do miss the wsop updates and website

See myself corrected on the number of entries for 1K Mystery:
Gonna be above 20K easy … juicy prizepool

Agreed. Made it fun and easy to follow along from home.

The app is great.
- You can follow the tournament updates on the app, including seeing everyone’s chips and what table.
- You can register for any tournament whenever and whereever you want, and pay online without any fees from what I’ve been able to tell
- Whenever you need to switch tables, the app immediately tells you what table you’ve ben assigned to, and you can of course see all the players at your new table
- You can see the running clock for the tournament on the app, and how many players are left, which is updated with every bustout by the dealer at the table.

Yes, everyone has to wait in line once to verify (though I was able to do this very quickly when I told them I’m paying with PayPal), but everything else is an improvement by orders of magnitude.
I have to give WSOP credit where it is due.

I agree with this except what you said about chip counts. They aren’t accurate at all and I suspect they’re only updated if the user chooses to update them.

The are updated by the dealers whenever there is a break, so generally only once every two hours.

The dealers count every stack at break time? I haven’t noticed or observed that with any dealers but maybe they’re doing it while I go to the restroom.

Got to give credit where credit is due. Just finished my first day of WSOP and my experience was solid.

There were still some bugs to work out, but I can get behind the WSOP effort to modernize the registration process with the app. They seemed to be pretty responsive to the complaints after the first few days!

Anyway time will tell how this year's changes are remembered... But after my first day I'm left with the right sentiment....
Let's go! and for my Spanish speaking friends... Vamos!!!

Someone said you can update yourself, haven’t figured out how yet … anybody??

If you're in a tourney click on story then click to make a post and then in the bottom right there is a little chip icon if you click you can up update your count.

For Android anyway.

Ahh, thx … found the story thing, but not that little icon . Will try today when I’m in a tourney

by JustASpectator m

Proof by contradiction would be to find one single individual that isn't playing because of the app requirement, which I imagine wouldn't be too hard. Maybe sit this thread out, champ. You clearly can't handle it.

OH NO! One single person isn’t playing because of the onerous app requirement! This is going to have catastrophic consequences for the number of entries and the resulting prize pools!

You gotta clich in the box like your going to write a post first. Then it pops up at the bottom with things like adding a photo or emoji.

Ok I'm here to help the people.
Registration/verification is open 23/7.
Its only closed from 5am to 6am.
There is zero lineup right now. Late night is your friend.

Two friends and I tried it at midnight on Wednesday night.

Friend #1 couldn't get a Caesars Rewards card from a kiosk, because their email "was not unique."

Friend #2, who lives in NYC, doesn't drive, and so has no DL, couldn't verify their home address, because her US Passport card doesn't include an address., and the bank statement didn't count because it wasn't government-issued. (They were evidently able to resolve this in the morning, and they were able to play the $1M Mystery Bounty.)

MY driver's license was in order, but I had renewed it in January, and my Caesars Rewards account had it listed with the old expiration date. My WSOP+ account wouldn't verify until the date was updated, and my clerk had no clue how to update it. Eventually a supervisor came over and walked them through the process.

"Very easy and smooth" LOL

How is this going to work at final three tables, when we can't access our smartphones?

by AlanBostick m

You don’t actually need to use your phone except to see your new table when your table breaks. So I don’t think this would be an issue.

While the app looks good, it will certainly reduce the entries especially in first year. It’s going to sometimes stop spontaneous decisions to enter tournaments if they don’t yet have app and verification.

Any issues with finding a parking spot at Paris?

by amw m

I was under the impression that any employees, regardless of position, in the casino industr, can not enter tournaments, for obvious reason. Maybe, I mis-understand your post.

In 2002, Mike Majerus finished third in the Employee event then went on to win the $2,000 Limit Hold 'Em the next day for his first bracelet. The next year John Arrage finished third in the Employee event then went on to win the $1,500 Limit Hold 'Em two weeks later for his first bracelet. [part of my first WSOP Top 10 Tuesday post on Coincidences a year ago]

Negligible effect if any.

Not trying to be snarky here, agree to disagree?
There were 273k entrants last year in all events (can't find if this is unique or not). The number of people that just happen to stroll into the WSOP, unaware it was going on, decide to play an event, especially a bracelet event is miniscule I would guess, less than 100. They would then have to have make it to registration desk, be told they need to download the app, sir please step aside while I help the next person and download the app, then I will get you sorted. They would then need to decide, F you no and leave. Even if this was 1000 people, that's .3 percent.

This number would also need to offset entries that are ADDED because of the app. Example, I am playing 1B of the monster stack, may or may not fire 1D if I don't bag. Prior years, with bravo being the only payment option, I would most likely have to decide the night before to play or not. I hate lines, 0 chance I wake up 9am and decide to wait in line for hours to play that event.

This year, I can wake up at 9am, decide to play, click 3 buttons and be registered. With the app, more payment options, 0 fees and 0 lines, this is going to add more entries then lost by so called walk up/walk aways due to the app.
Last minute entries no longer have to wait in huge lines for major events, they probably lost way more people in years past due to people not wanting to wait in 2+ hour lines.
