As someone who is planning on playing in the Super Seniors event, I gotta push back on this notion that the app is somehow challenging for someone who is older. It took me all of fifteen minutes to download the app and input my information, including linking my Caesars Reward card. I will walk over to Horseshoe the day before the event and verify my identity. I don't find any of this aggravating.

This is the myth that will never die. The entries and prize pools of WSOP tournaments will not be affected in any way because of the need to...download an app.

Proof by contradiction would be to find one single individual that isn't playing because of the app requirement, which I imagine wouldn't be too hard. Maybe sit this thread out, champ. You clearly can't handle it.

I'd like to know how long it takes to verify your identity. Also where are you staying near the Horseshoe. I reserve the right to change my mind!

In one of these threads, it sounds like there were two-hour lines for verification. Not sure if it's still like that, though – probably something that happens as a huge influx of players attempt to register at roughly the same time. The $1K Mystery Millions event would be just such an occasion.

Staying across the street at the Bellagio. Got a great deal for five nights. I don’t think verification will take too long. I have also heard that it can be quicker if you are paying via PayPal. But, in any event, I suspect the long lines will be mostly diminished by then. And I am definitely going to enter and verify the day before.

WTF? lol

I remember when the WSOP was held in the springtime, parking was free and rooms and food were inexpensive. Now we are being taken to the cleaners and laundered out for whatever money they can get from us. And it's working. Spot on here. Thank you for this post. It needs to be said.

They have become like every other gigantic corporate entity in America: financially rape the customer for every possible penny, and then financially rape some more to create an addiction to the product for more pennies.

I was on the fence about attending WSOP 2025. But with your post, I have decided officially against going. I refuse to give my money to an organization who goes out of their way to make every possible thing more expensive (despite there being no evidence of additional costs to provide the service).

It truly is for the youth who don't mind all the aggravation required to attend and play at the WSOP. They can have it!

I honestly don't think its that hard. Yeah... placing a dime in the public payphone was easier than fiddling with a moble device. Or finding a business through the yellow pages had a certain appeal... but "old" people figured it out. I'm a little perplexed about this quitter mentality. It's just an app. Don't make it out more than what it is.

You can do it!!!!!

At least for me, the rake on these WSOP tournaments is actually slightly lower this year than in the past if you factor in the points you can earn when buying in with a credit card.

But that's you specifically. And I'm sure plenty of other players your age will be fine with using an app. But there are obviously way more older people who either don't have smartphones or are terrible with them than there are younger people with no smartphone.

Yeah, I remember this too. I also remember when Becky Behnen wasn't paying her phone bill, and so if you were staying in the 'Shoe you couldn't call. I remember players carrying wads of Benjamins the size of their shoe whining to get a food comp from the floor. I remember running the gauntlet of ne'er-do-wells selling lammers between the top of the escalator and the tournament entry cage.

Sure, the lines for the restrooms are long, but at least those restrooms are clean.

LOL old man yells at installing app on phone.

I think last year it was old man yells at bomb pots lol.

I'd like to join the Old Man club and echo how silly it is that I can't go on the WSOP website to find updates about the WSOP while the WSOP is happening.

Whether intentionally or unintentionally what they are doing is helping everyone else's business. Whoever keeps their tourney’s at a lower price point and simple and efficient registration processes will see more business from that particular crowd. Conspiracy…maybe the wsop and whoever is running it wants to rid themselves of that customer *shrug*…

I'm not a quitter, but once again I vote with my wallet, always have. I know going in that I am being gouged in every way possible by being a participant at the WSOP. There are no special accommodations made for players traveling great distances at great expense to participate. In fact the opposite could be said. The Horseshoe/Paris goes out of their way to make this a bad experience for you, with exorbitant prices on everything including parking fees, inadequate restroom facilities, a lack of reasonably priced hotel rooms (plus resort fees added on!), long lines both to register and to get paid if you win. Nowhere even to sit down during a break! All this in the dead heat of Summer when just walking outside is an ordeal. That's by plan too. In my world a little consideration goes a long way and I saw none of that when I was there last year! You can volunteer to be abused, but it's not for me. I'm old but not senile!

I made a deep run in the $600 deepstack yesterday and I was astounded to see how bad the dealers were even that deep in an event. I get that they are all new and they need time, but not final 2 tables (and even final table).

Two examples - one dealer I don't think spoke English. E.g. final 2 tables BTN jams into my BB and I point at it and say "can I have a count please", and I did nothing else, and he nodded at me and burned a card ready to deal a flop! No cards on their back, no calling motion, dude is just about to stick out a flop with 15 left.

Another dealer, guy goes all in for 10.3m, another player asks for a count, the dealer reaches over, struggles for 45 seconds to count it, announces "nine point three" and immediately yells (and I mean yells) "yesss I did it!" while the other guy is thinking, only for the entire table to immediately point out it was 10.3m.

They moved us to the main stage table for the actual final table, plopped us down and for about 80% of it there was no floorman in sight. Two dealers forgot to take a player's holecards on two separate occasions and thus only put 50 in the shuffle machine, and we had to wait for the floor to come, but there was no floor around. At a final table! We're just sitting there with 9bb average stack while the clock winds down as the table is asking the dealer to call the floor and he's just nodding his head.

Final 3 tables the floorman restarted the clock after break with about 4 players at each table having half their chips racked up for a colour up. We're literally playing out of racks while the floorman instead of going round the 3 tables and taking the racks off and colouring up and then starting the clock he restarted the clock and went to each table to colour up while we were playing.

A total ****ing **** show.

Brutal. Are the tables as close together as they were last year?

You are right Old Man. The updates are on PokerNews, but even then, when the tournament is over it appears to disappear from the list of events. How do we look over the results of the events that have ended? For example, events 1-9 are now missing from the list or can someone tell me how to see them.

Scroll down to Finished Events

Thank you!

Yeah that's bad that they don't have experienced dealers dealing the last few tables of a big event. Congrats on the run!! What place did you finish in?
