MuckPls vs BigWhale - a WSOP June TR
Hey everyone! Figured since everything is booked on my part I will go ahead and fire a thread. After a disastrous last t
We’re all just bursting with eager anticipation and enthusiasm for the upcoming summer!
Happens to everybody at least once.
I was planning on saving my rungood for Vegas, but I guess I peaked too soon (that's what she said).
Played the 2-day €250 Mystery Bounty at Portomaso Casino here in Malta, and was in a great chip position after day 1. Didn't play my best at the start of day 2 though, and found myself short as we were approaching the bubble. However, I somehow managed to stay alive well past the bubble by picking my spots, and also got a lot of good fortune along the way. This was especially true with 10 players left, when I was down to 4.5 blinds and had to go with QTo. Ran smack into Aces, but a miracle board of A-K-3-6-J gave me the double up.
Started the 9-handed FT as one of the shortest stack, but managed to double in two successive hands, including knocking out an even shorter stack in the latter. That gave me the pull of a Mystery Bounty, and I managed to pull the lone €5000 bounty! (the biggest one). Kept running good at knocked out 2 more players for minimum bounties (won 4 bounties in total), and eventually we were 3-handed.
After trading chips for a bit back and forth we found ourselves dead even in chips (all around 2.5 million with 150k BB), and agreed to a 3-way deal where we split both the remaining price pool + the 3 remaining bounties. I walked away with the most money, to the grand tune of €10800 EUR ($12288 USD). By far my biggest score ever, and an amazing confidence boost before Vegas.
Did I get lucky a couple of times? For sure, but today it was just my time I guess. I was down to 3-4 big blinds at times, but the deck refused to eliminate me and I always held when I was ahead and needed to win. And I stayed patient and did not punt away my stack, which is the most important thing.
Overall an amazing feeling and it makes me even more psyched for Vegas now π
Woot. That's the joy of tournaments right there.
Some of my best runs have come from relative dust. You never know when the rush will appear.
Enjoy the extra funds and whatever extra boon they provide to your LV activities.

boom. congratulations. great bankroll builder for Vegas
Insane score, I was on the virtual rail the entire run! [emoji846]
And while we are bragging, I also managed to ship a smaller online event for $3500 which will be added to the Vegas roll.
Very nice! Congrats. Does it change your Vegas schedule any? Maybe fire a bullet into the Monster Stack? [emoji6]

Nothing changes for me except for more cash game bullets. Hopefully I wonβt have to play any tournaments, that would mean I am running like garbage.
Not sure about BigWhale, hope he enters at least one $5000 event and at least wins it!
Should've started your Vegas trip a week earlier, might have pulled a $1 million envelope.
Coulda been you!

Thanks for all the congratulations, guys π To be honest, I don't think it changes much about my Vegas-schedule, except that I might make some occasional re-entries if needed (which I really hadn't planned to).
But I will have another look at the schedule(s) and see if there might be something that's tempting, and that I had originally overlooked because of the buy-in being a bit high.
Fantastic run!
Nice hits, guys!

Random encounter at the Horseshoe - Rampage and Matt Affleck, discussing coaching duties on Jonathan Little's website, no doubt.
Have to keep it near the top!
Maybe it's an artifact of my playing all low buy-in events so far, but it's been street-overbet city. For example, with blinds at 200/400 and nobody in the hand other than the blinds, people are open raising to 2200. 6X blinds? I saw a few yesterday that 10x the bb.
I hope this trend ends before I come back next week for the Monster.
Here's a stat you want no part of: With all the events I've played this week, I've had dozens of open-ended straight draws and flush draws. Haven't hit a single one. Good time to head home for a little while and hope the hex leaves before I get back.

Small bump with an update:
My friend who we will share rooms with for two weeks got a really good offer for the dates we would have stayed at the Flamingo. So yeah we have cancelled that booking and will stay 18-21 at the Excalibur.
Literally cannot wait for the trip at this point. Iβve had a couple of good scores the past week so the bankroll is at an all time high!
The trip has officially started for me, as I made my way from Malta to London Heathrow this evening (3 hour flight, very smooth ride). Just like my last few trips, I am dividing the outbound trip into two days.
Currently chilling in an airport hotel at Heathrow Airport:

I will spend the night here and have a relaxing morning as the flight bound for Las Vegas doesn't leave until 435pm, local time. If all goes well, I should land around 730pm on Monday evening.
Can't wait to be back in Vegas yet again, and it will be super interesting and fun to experience the WSOP atmosphere etc.
More updates coming tomorrow.

I've only flown in and out of Heathrow. Is there anything to do around there?
Shoulda looked up lastcardcharlie. He seems like someone it'd be fun to grab a beer with.

How many actual hours from UK to Vegas?
