micro stakes -> full time income - tracking my PLO results

About my (short) history with poker:

- I started playing poker last year. Initially I played some $1 mtt's.
I had no clue about any theory and was just winging it. I decided to make the switch to NLH cash games on GG.
I started off with a tiny bankroll of about $50, got it to drop below $20 at first, but ended up grinding it up a decent amount for the stake.
I was studying at this point and playing 2nl and 5nl.

2nl & 5nl graph for this year on GG:

I then had some personal struggles to deal with for a couple of months, in which time I played no poker at all. Those things are now behind me and I'm starting fresh. I've made the switch to PLO cash games.

Goals:

My goal is to grind PLO cash (on GG atm), from low stakes to high stakes eventually.

I have unlimited free time at the moment. I intend to grind a lot every day to make this my full time income as soon as possible.
Though I'm well aware it might take some time. I'm ready for that.

I've tried multi-tabling plo cash on GG, but I've decided that isn't a path I want to go down.
My goal is to grind and study a lot to get as good at PLO as possible (also I'm from Finland. A big PLO country).
I'll stick to playing a maximum of 4 tables. No more grinding leaderboards and fish buffet.

I'll track my results with this thread. Posting results whenever I feel fit.
I'll be 100% transparent about my results for the sake of keeping myself accountable.

Now:

I'm starting with a bankroll of $500.

Playing PLO25 to begin with.
If I drop below $400, I'll move down to PLO10.

I wont be discussing my studying here in too much depth,
but I'll be studying a decent amount while trying to play 8+ hours on most days of the week

I'm ready to start the grind

I actually started last night. Played for 10 minutes.

Bankroll: $511.60

Starting todays grind now.

This guy's sitting on 1600bb after 150 hands... quite a sight.

Todays graph:

played a little more volume than intended. Played less hours but more tables.
Ran pretty card dead at times, but also played suboptimal at the middle there.

Bankroll: $486.33

I get leaderboards and the GG flipout at around 3pm every day.
So todays rakeback will be included in tomorrows update.

As i already said, I'll be completely transparent.

Today's graph so far:

Very embarrassing. I started off playing 4 tables, went up $70 pretty quickly.

I then met my biggest downfall: impatience.
Ended up opening more tables and you can clearly see the turning point from positive results to negative.
I always manage to convince myself I can play just aswell no matter the table count. That's obviously not true and I keep seeing it in the results.

For the next 30 days minimum, I won't allow myself to play anything more than 4 tables at a time. I need to get out of this mentality.

I'll do another 3+ hour session to end the day off. Let's see if I can dig myself out of this hole. Good thing is I'm getting my fish buffet reward today.
I'll do my best. Posting results later.

wish me luck :3

got the min reward from the fish buffet.
$12

Current fish buffet level: bronze octopus

How many monitors do you have? I play on a laptop, so 4 tables fit neatly, but more I have to stack them....

I just got a new 32 inch monitor. I can have 9 tables open on just the one monitor without overlap.

Since I didn't stick to my plan and suffered some VERY unnecessary losses, I'm going to act like a loser and top up back to $500 and act like it never happened.
I know I can beat these stakes if I stick to my plan.

I'm taking this way more seriously from now on. I don't ever plan on giving up. And if I want to actually get good and make this work, I have to be smart and disciplined.
This is my one and only top up.

Here's my plan moving forward:

- Play way less volume. Max 4 tables at one time. aim for 4x 90min sessions per day. After 90 minutes I start to notice myself losing focus.

- Study more. I'll spend about 8-10 hours on poker every single day: 25% study, 75% playing. I'll study for a minimum of 2 hours every morning, before hopping into my days sessions.

- Stick to my BRM. The moment I drop down below $400 (which I will avoid at all costs), I'll move down to plo10.

- Manage tilt. Tilt and impatience are the two things that lead to massive losing sessions for me. I start adapting a gambling mindset and I start to feel like I'm owed something. I won't let tilt affect my decision making anymore. If I notice I start to tilt, I'll remind myself of why I'm doing this and just do the smart thing and take a breather.

- I'll post my results here on a daily basis for as long as I feel fit. I'll post a weekly recap at the end of every week. Take tomorrow 06/06/2025, as day 1

- And the most important rule: STICK TO THE GOD DAMN PLAN

Time to start acting like I'm actually serious about this. If anyone sees themselves as having a similar mindset to mine, or similar goals, please feel free to reach out.
My friends aren't into poker. Currently I'm going 100% solo. If someone wants to talk poker, share hand histories and other thoughts or just about anything else regarding poker, you can dm me :3

Good luck to everyone on the tables (but mostly to myself)

I'll be following 😀 GL!

Studies done for the day.

Hopping into todays first session now.

pretty nasty

Going out with some friends for the afternoon so I'm cutting my day a little short.

I stuck to the plan today (for the first time in a long time). Finished 3 out of 4 90min sessions so 4.5 hours of playtime today.

Todays graph:

Certainly looking much better than previous days. My game felt pretty solid overall.
Only playing 4 tables and shorter sessions definitely helps me have a clearer mind and making better decisions.
Got coolered a couple times at the beginning so I'm entered for tomorrows GG flipout with about 22bb. Might make another $20-$30 or so there if I'm lucky.
The rest of the session I ran decently well. Pretty card dead at times, but I managed to win some big pots.

Bankroll: $546.40 (includes yesterdays rakeback from leaderboard)

Sick blog, keep putting in the volume

Sick blog, keep putting in the volume

Thank you.

I definitely will.

Put in good volume today.
Started off running hot, but toward the end the EV line kind of caught up to me.

Last session was meant to be 90 minutes but ended up being 3.5 hours. I got stacked a couple of times, but there was this whale on the table sitting on 300b at one point. I knew it was a matter of time until I stack him so I decided to tough it out. Though it took longer than I expected, I managed to win a 300bb pot off him and decided to call it a day.

Todays graph:

It was an emotional rollercoaster toward the end but I ended up well in the profit so no complaints here ¯\_(ツ😉_/¯

probably getting another $10 from todays LB due to higher volume. At 4 tables for 6 hours a day, I usually make $7-$8 from LB.

Bankroll: $578.32

What I like about that^^ graph is how toward the end my all-in EV line is pretty consistently going upwards. I'll take that as a good sign.

edit: I'm also proud of myself for sticking with a maximum of 4 tables and not letting tilt take over my decision making.

off day today. Continuing tomorrow.

Actually I just noticed I hade some cash tickets I'd got from running bad. I punted off with a couple of 10bb stacks from those tickets and made a little profit lol.

Bankroll: $589.85

been playing for a couple of hours today so far.

Literally can not win a pot.

expecting to lose all my progress today and more. I've never ran this card dead in my entire life.

today so far. Expecting to lose atleast twice as much in the next few hours. Loving every bit of it. I'm not losing my mind you are.

what's the point

gonna take a break now. Regroup béfore I los emy ****ing mind.

Take a breather. I'm tilting hard.

I'm taking a tiny break and prepare for a 12 hour+ session if I have to.

I'm tilting insanely hard but taking a break won't change it. All I can do is sit here and try to play the best poker I can.

Edit: Took a solid 2 minute break. Feeling calmer. Def lost a couple of BI due to tilt there. Boutta pull a miracle comeback rq

I can not believe how awfully bad I ran for the entire day.

This is pretty much the consensus:

I don't get any playable hands for hours and hours.
I finally get a playable hand, I completely miss the flop.
I miraculously hit the flop well, If I slowplay, no one bets ever and folds to any bet no matter how small.
If they don't fold even to bigger bets, they have a draw and end up getting there on the river every single time.
If I have a good, but not great hand and I make a standard bet, I get check raised an I can't call.
If I have a great hand and end up getting it all in, I'm usually the favorite, but I lose every flip.
If I win a flip, it's against a fish with 15bb effective.
etc. etc. we've all experienced it before.

absolutely disasterous. I wasn't even tilted for the last 5 HOUR session. I'm just completely deflated. When I say I've NEVER run this bad, I'm not joking.

Bankroll: $355.48

The thing is, I have unlimited free time at the moment and no plan B. (we'll technically the final resort is either kms or give myself to the military as a meat shield or something)

People have come back from a lot worse. Is it discouraging? yes. Do I feel like giving up? sorta. But am I going to give up? never.

Tomorrow is a new day. I'll have to study more and incorporate it into my game better. I'll have to keep my sessions shorter no matter what. If I quit today after being down a few BI I'm sure I'd be in a better situation. I won't drop back to plo10 before I go busto, because I realized I'll be able to hit my fish buffet perfectly within just under 30 days. Can't do that in plo10 without increasing table count.

It's a real set back. But set backs build character. In all fairness being down 6BI from my intial bankroll isn't that disasterous. If I run good I can make the money back in a few days. Just need to keep my head down and be intentional about my decisions. Tilt got the better of me today. We're all human after all.

Back with new updates tomorrow.

wish me luck.
