PardoG's 30th Trip to Vegas (20th to the WSOP)

Hello.....is there anybody out there? We are heading back to the WSOP (6/8-6/15)

Been in these streets since the early 2000's and while it's deader than it's ever been, I warms the Cat's heart to see TR's still being posted here, especially this time of year. Another trip around the sun my friends and we area ready for another dance with the devil.

My June trip marks my 30th Trip to Vegas (22nd summer WSOP trip - first was in 2003).

Several years ago I broke my TR cherry, and then followed it up with another report in 2023 and then last year in 2024. Links below for those who care to skim through to get a feel if you like the cut of my jib. 2024's TR included an Epic 3rd place run in a Wynn 1100 Turbo for 21K score. So I'd say for you tourney freaks, checking out last year's TR would be some fun for you.

For those unfamiliar, and not compelled to revisit history, here is typically what you can expect from a Pardo,G. trip report and some details about the plan for this year.

-Lot's of cash game poker (I started in tournaments like many, but been primarily a cash game player for a long time). PLO is the drug of choice, but of course we play 2 card chicken (aka the thing you humans call NL texas hold em), and we most certainly dabble in mixed games wherever and whenever we can. 1-2, 2-5, 5-5, and even some 5-10 (if you're lucky).

-I will always certainly fire SOME tournament(s) - have to give the people what they want. Most likely 1100 Wynn Turbos, 800 Aria Daily, HORSE Tourney, 1500K WSOP Turbo - the only event going on the week I am there I feel like playing

-Pit degeneracy - Coffee and Blackjack is often a theme for me as an early riser from the US east coast, and to mix things up. I will probably spin the devils wheel a bit, and maybe even throw them bones.

-Fancy Feast - Food, Food and more food - one of my favorite parts about vegas is the food.

-Wildcards - past reports included things like high roller, Meowolf's omega mart/Area 51, Planet 13 to get us LIFTED, comedy shows/Cirque shows etc. Gotta mix some stuff in

-Loafing - as a high end cat, I enjoy the occasional spa treatment, maybe a grooming, a little shopping for the mate etc.

This year, as every year for the past 12+ years or so, we'll be staying at the Encore. For me, WynnEncore second to none, and we must indulge - plus love the PLO there and the tournies. Background about me can be find in the previous reports but Married, 2 kids, BIG corporate job, yet still a slave - working towards early retirement and a life of leisure hopefully between 55-60. We'll see. For poker trips I'm almost always exclusively solo, and will be again for this one.

IN!

Can’t wait.

I expect to be reading multiple posts under the influence of catnip!

I'm in as well! Looking forward to your write-ups.

Good luck with the early retirement. It's pretty great, if you can make it work for your lifestyle.

I'm in, LFG!

In for sure -- sounds like my kind of report w/ all the things I enjoy 😉

T minus 5 days out my friends. Locked and loaded! Hopefully this is all we need lol. Shoe pics to follow.

In! Read your previous TR and know that you will crush!

Those chips need a good washing though 😀

Packed up today! Flight is at 6am EST from Boston tomorrow! LFGGG

Okay friends. It’s go time! We are at the airport and checking in on JetBlue. We are flying “Mint” which is there version of first class/business class. I’ve never flown it before but pics look very nice. While standing in line we see this guy below and his owner tells us that he’s also on his way to Vegas. Is this an omen of positive vibes to come for everyone’s favorite poker playing cat? Purrrrhapppsss!

We are also at Wahlburgers in the airport, and although we pledged to be mostly healthy on this trip (gonna be tough lol) I’m extremely starving and there are serving the whole menu so we are going double cheeseburger for breakfast before we saddle up for a very long trip cross country. No fries though. Remember I said we were going to be healthy. Lolzzz.

Have a fun trip

Have a Purrrrfect Trip!

It is definitely a good omen to see a cat before your trip!

Hopefully this means you will CATch some cards and have a good catitude. Then everything is pawsible.

Double cheeseburger surely the precursor to many double ups. GL on your adventure.

We flew JetBlue “Mint” for the first time. Got a pic of the seat. Pretty nice setup. Foot’s service was solid as well. Forgot to snap a pic of that. I’m a little rusty. Gotta get back into the swing of things.

Flight was super smooth, and with all this space to lounge out and “The Last of Us” Season 2 downloaded on the IPad. It flew by in a snap! We landed with no issues, now we wait for our bags before heading over to the Encore!

After arriving, we find out our room isn’t ready (not a shock since it’s Sunday and only 11am), so we check our bag at the bell desk and we head over tot he sports book to catch the end of the French Open final. I’m a recreational tennis player and enjoy catching the match. It’s too late to bet on it but we chill and catch the end while we plot our afternoon.

My first day, I really like to take care of any errands and business (cat nip purchases, hitting the WSOP cage and handling the required paperwork/verification etc for the app, and purchase anything we forgot, or gifts we know we need to come home with for Mrs. PardoG.) So we hit planet 13, purchase a bunch of different varieties of the plant, and then head over to Paris, do what we need to do, and then we grab a quick snack.

I get a text that the room is ready, and I head back to unpack, and we hit the gym for a cardio session. The cat is down 35 lbs in the past 10 months, with designs on another 25 coming off in the next year. We pledged to be a bit more healthy on this trip and so knocking out an hour of cardio right on day 1 feels like a Wynn. You see what I did there?

I hit the showers, and I wait for the room service Mongolian beef! Then it’s nap time before getting ready for our first session!

Sitting down for the first session of the trip! Its’s our beloved dealer down bomb pot PLO at the WynnCore!

PLO session was very uneventful. We ended up -$7 dollars. lol. No interesting spots or hand histories worth relaying sadly but oh well. We played from about 9PM-3AM when the game broke.

We then headed off to the cafe for a chicken parm sandwich which was pretty tasty albeit expensive (like everything at WynnCore) I give it a solid 7/10 for late night food.

After that we dust off $160 in blackjack, and 300 at the Devils wheel . No love from a little dabbling in pit this time.

A busy and productive Day 1 and things really officially start tomorrow.

Day 1:

Poker Cash: -$7
Table Games/Other: - $460
Day 1 Total: -$467

I think tomorrow morning we will hit the gym and maybe the spa facilities after we take another sleep now for hopefully at least 4-5 hours. Then I am really not sure what I’m going to do. I could fire one of the aria or Venetian 1100’s, or I could play in day 1A of the Wynn 1600 and try to “find a bag” as the kids say, or purrrhaps we stick to cash tomorrow or maybe just tune up with something elementary like a resorts world daily for $200 or whatever. We will see friends! Back at it tomorrow!

Looks like off to a good start!
