Haven't played online cash in years and starting to get back into grinding up levels. Only 2k hands in thus far. Looking for insights into the line I took and what should be sizing on raise on river. Will answer any questions relevant to the hand.

Zkesic plays with short stacks and performs well, but I still think the advice to play with a full stack is going to be better for players starting out since the vast vast majority of material they will have access to in order to improve is specifically catered around 100bb eff stacks regardless of what other arguments people may pose about short vs. full stack arguments what I said previously is going to be difficult to argue against.

Preflop and flop are sort of whatever.

Buy in full and jam river or raise to 1.50+ as played seems good OP.

Most beginners are losing players. So I think that playing short would help them limit loses and simplify their strategy early on.

If you think it's more difficult to find study material for short stacks, then surely the same applies for your opponents too πŸ˜€

Those are reasonable arguments, but a new player is going to have a lot of trouble creating their own coherent strategies.

I think limiting losses is a good counterpoint also, but generally a main recommendation for new players is to play the lowest stakes available.

You're playing NL10, don't in the CO.

Rivering a set aside, i think the easiest thing to miss this hand is the fact that 77 is closer to a bluff than a valuebet on the flop. UTG range has very little 4x and 2x that can call, and might not even be raising smaller pocket pairs preflop.

As such, you can consider sizing up on the flop, and/or barreling the turn in order to make some bigger pairs fold.

Nice river. But Preflop it’s either 3-bet or fold.

River easy big raise. Flop is slightly small , think 2/3 kind of smallest legit size here but I would personally always bet this hand. I think turn is the really interesting decision node. Things to consider.

Do I have enough non spade bluffs. This is both important if a flush hits and also just in general as spades will make bad bluffs( probably). This will depend ok how you construct preflop and flop.

Will i fold enough to river bet once I check. Very easy to barrell all your air and check some Ax and then end up way too strong on river and having to fold A to fold enough. Therefore I think checking this sometimes to fold river is good.

Both of these questions are to do with how yoy construct ranges on previous streets
