Global Poker confiscates your money after 90 days without play!

So, I didn't log into the site for over 90 days and they confiscated over $3k real money from me.

No warning at all. Checked my email and they have been sending me their spam this whole time, but no warning that they were about to take my money.

This was their reply to me --

Thank you for contacting the Global Poker Support Team.

We understand your concern about the expired Sweeps Coins in your account. Please note that Sweeps Coins expire after 90 days of inactivity due to compliance requirements.

You can find more information here: https://globalpoker.com/sweeps-rules/

3.10 Sweeps Coins are only valid for ninety (90) days from the date a Participant last logged on to their Customer Account and will then automatically expire.

In order to take full advantage of the free Sweeps Coins attributed to your Global Poker account, you must maintain it as active.

Don't hesitate to contact us should you have any further questions.

How could that be possible without any warning?

Here is a link to Global's rules. They were updated one day before my money was removed, but I don't know what the update was.

Also, here is a screenshot of my account.

The updated terms had nothing to do with it. This has been a rule since day one. I don't like it and hope you get your money back but I've seen this happen to many over the years. Even sites like ACR have a dormant timeframe though the CEO said he won't enforce. Bank accounts also have dormant closings and you have to claim through the states unclaimed property fund. This is not unique to this site, the only thing I don't like is that the timeframe seems to be too short

3 months is straight up theft ... no one should play at this dumpster fire

This is a person in the Global Poker discord that went through the same thing.... they reinstated his balance. Thought this would be useful for you. I'll post the players message then the reply by the Global Poker employee. I don't want to include the names.

Hey everyone, sorry if this is the wrong channel, please let me know!

I recently logged into my Global account after a few months away and was really surprised to see my ~500SC balance had completely vanished. I had no idea that could even happen! After some googling, I discovered Global has a 90 day expiration policy for sweeps coins.

I saw some posts online mentioning that contacting support usually got the balance reinstated, so I reached out to ask about it. Unfortunately, support told me they couldn’t help me, and when I asked again they told me they recently introduced a policy to always refuse to reimburse expired sweeps coins, supposedly for "fairness".

I’m very confused by this. Wouldn’t it be more fair to always give people’s balances back, especially if it’s a first-time issue?
Could someone from Global clarify if this new policy is actually being applied everywhere, and explain why the decision was made?

Hi, got this fixed for you, you should have your SC balance reinstated either already or shortly. Just a heads up, the policy of voiding SC after 90 days of inactivity is part of Sweepstakes rules that we have to adhere to, so please don’t rely on this again. Just logging in and out of your account before the 90 day mark will suffice, although feel free to give us a spin while you’re there . Enjoy the games!

Looks like they give your balance back, hope you receive yours shortly

Awesome, very much appreciated, tiger24! I will try that tonight.

They confiscated ~$5k usd from me and after I followed up I received it back, but they said they would not do that again (give it back if I was inactive for the 3 months again). This was many years ago.

Good luck.

Thank you. I posted yesterday on its Discord channel, so we'll see what happens.

Think they are all in Vegas for the week. Might take a while to get a response

Reading this makes me grateful I don't have to rely on sweepstakes. Three months is a joke imo.

Hope OP gets sorted and the other players story gives me some optimism for the OP. GL.

The discord mod replied this morning that he was looking into it. It was about a day after replied similarly in the last case referenced by tiger24 before he fixed it.

Seems like it's one dude handling all the various requests and issues on discord, so definitely going to be patient and not bug him.

I very much appreciate the information, advice and well-wishes from all that have replied and DMed. Good folks here.

GL man, I hope you get it back !

The discord mod posted a follow-up yesterday after I thanked him for his initial reply.

No problem. These cases should all be being reviewed currently. If you haven't had a resolution in a few days let me know and I'll take another look.

The discord poster that tiger24 referenced earlier is showing his displeasure with the process, with these three posts after mine --

Hi [mod], thanks for getting this reverted, greatly appreciated.
With that said, I was still hoping for an explanation for the initial response I had from support before posting in here. Frankly, it seems to me that Global support is not at all operating in good faith and the interaction has left a terrible taste in my mouth.

And it looks like this wasn't a one-off - DiscipleOfHellmuth I very much hope they do the right thing and reimburse you!

Is this to say they are reviewing how they handle expired coins as a whole?

Anyway, I plan to lay low on there and give the mod a week or so before reaching back out. Thanks again to all that have posted in this thread. I will update with future info as I receive it.

Good idea to give it some time. They are in Vegas for a week for the Global party and finals of the online series they recently had. If you are patient and show the mod that regular Global support isn't helping your case he will then be forced to act. I'm fairly confident you will get the balance back

To close the book on this thread, my sweeps coins were restored this morning.

Just to give the timeline, on 6/19 the discord mod said to give him a few days if support didn't reach back out to me.

I waited until 7/1, and replied on Discord that I still hadn't heard anything.

Got the following email this morning, and verified that the coins were there

Greetings from Global Poker.

We are reaching out to you in regard to your expired Sweeps Coins.

We're happy to inform you that it has been reconsidered and approved, and SC 3357.43 has been added to your account as a one-time-courtesy offer. Kindly log into our site to check.

You may also check our Sweeps Rules by going through this link: https://globalpoker.com/sweeps-rules

3. HOW TO COLLECT SWEEPS COINS

"3.10 Sweeps Coins are only valid for ninety (90) days from the date a Participant last logged on to their Customer Account and will then automatically expire."

Kindly note that we also send an email reminder two weeks prior to the expiration. You may check your email inbox to confirm.

Looks like they are now sending out a reminder two weeks before coins expire.

Thanks again to all that have advised and informed. I am very grateful.
