AnOther AzOther1 WSOP Semi-Life Trip Report, 2025 version
Gonna be a quick n dirty WSOP experience for me this year. Arriving later today (June 14), to hit the WSOP Event #45 Sa
Go!
Place is a meat locker. I was in a T-shirt, shorts and sandals. The tequila helped a little.
The hotter it is outside, the colder they keep it inside, and it's flippin' hot this weekend.
I did notice they swiped my players card at the table. Does this mean we're earning compa in the WSOP cash games? That's new isn't it?
Apparently! And yes, it's new.
GOGOGO!
I don't actually follow college baseball, so betting against the Wildcats is fine with me.
I was out on my second bullet about 7pm, I think the 1000/2500/2500 level. 2nd bullet started in the Horseshoe, bronze 658. Next to all the featured/secondary televised tables. Table was all late reg, brand new, and took a few minutes to get going. Not much happened at the 1st table.Tables started breaking, and I actually moved once to the very next table, played a hand, then all tables in bronze paused and we all moved back to Paris en mass. I ended up in the cash game area (green 2). This process took awhile. When moved, my chip count was around 88.5k, but that didn't last long after that. A series of 2nd best hands that if I'm being honest some of which I could have got away from got my short and I eventually shoved A2o utg for 10 BBS and didn't improve vs AQ. GGs
A couple of cash sessions resulted in small wins, slightly offsetting the 1k loss in tournament buy-ins. In between, I had a burger from Bobby Flay's with buddy M who arrived in town that afternoon. He's been grinding VP at Paris, and has sent me a few pics of quads already.
I played cash until about midnight before calling it a day.
Now it's 7am, I got as much sleep as I'm going to get, and I need to make a plan for the day...
Plan is to try the Orleans 11am Mega stack $400. But first, a stop at the Miracle Mile shops for a b'fast Sammy at Earls.
Reg'd the $400 $40k guaranteed (!!) 11am. Could be profitable decision. Let's run pure and FT this b#tch.
Gogogogo!!

In the spirit of full disclosure, I have to confess I am broken. I can't play tournament poker anymore. I'm out, early, again. Big but not final hand was against aggro south American pro on the button. I had jj mid position, I raise 3x, he calls. Q hi flop (rag rag) x b c 8k, turn paired the hi card Q. I lead for 6k thinking he's less likely to have a Q now, but he jams for my 24k remaining. I fold feeling like I may still have had the best hand. No reveal. Then busted top pair K against slow played AA a short time later and I'm out.
No more tournaments for this guy. Wandering the Orleans now, mashing some VP and considering the shrimp po boy lunch special at Big Al's. Sweating the Murray St game. Go Racers!
Will probably hit some more cash at wsop before hooking back up with M for general degeneracy tonight before leaving tomorrow.
Yeah, mtts can be brutal. Good plan. Brush it off and have a few drinks and an easy day
Murray St couldn't hold on for my sports parley, which was disappointing. Not disappointing was the shrimp po boy special at Big Al's.
Played a little VP for small profit, then a bunch of $3 auto craps for a nice triple up! Lol $20 -> $66 before heading back to EI.
111 Fahrenheit for the stroll back to the WSOP from Ellis Island. Won't do that again mid-day. Now sitting in a 1-3 game and awaiting a Corona.

catching up on the after events
dude,
please
(does not mean police)
shoot me a pm next time you rip cord a trippy report
always fun to follow carnival live as long as it happens
and can we all agree steph draymond and clay have gotten their fair share of kerrant attention and there is no need dedicating an entire poker tournament to their success?
let alone the only number worn by #45 and proud Jackson State alum 'Never Nervous' Purvis Short
one of many benefits driving not flying

not only could they not hold on, the racers lost 0-3 to a pitcher who caused this box score
bottom 8 and perfecto slips away from Gage Wood when bounces a waste pitch off the front foot of leadoff
a performance scarily similar to the Kerry Wood 20K game effort, but not sure yet if related
That Paris felt is cool, I assume in the WSOP cash game area? Paris used to have a poker room, which I really liked.
Thanks for the TR! Safe travels.
Hope you enjoyed your trip!
Thanks for sharing your trip.
safe travels Az
Turned a Benjamin into $50 at live craps this morning before leaving Ellis Island. Also turned a $15 ticket + $20 into $20 at the bubble craps while grabbing a nice big coffee in a to-go cup from the cocktailer. Well worth the $2 tip.
Blueberry Hill b'fast was 2 eggs OM with 3 bacon and a short stack of overly fluffy pancakes, plus OJ for $22.
No issues driving straight home from BBH with a stop in Wikiup to pee. Now just waiting on the LSU/UCLA game. Only CWS sweat left is Coastal Carolina to win it all.
Thank you for sharing.
I'm a bit jealous of those who live within reasonable driving distance of Vegas. What a temptation that would be.
anyone else hear the sound of this crumpeled aluminum ore was that just mine own ears?
