8-handed tables

8-handed tables

A card room near me has gone to 8-handed tables. I don't like it, because when there are empty seats and players away from the table, it winds up 5-handed.

Personally, I like it when the table gets to 6 or 5 handed. It allows me to play looser while most can't adjust.

I don't mind playing 5 or 6 handed either, but that usually means the game is going to break soon because many people hate playing shorthanded.

I leave once it gets to 4-handed, because even with reduced rake it still becomes a rake-trap.

I agree about the sentiments regarding 8 handed poker. Usually on average, there would be 2 players away from the table and everybody gets pissy about playing 6 handed or less. I think casinos should strongly enforce a 3rd man walking rule at 8 handed tables.

I usually find this to be the opposite. Most bad players are too loose, so if they don't adjust when the game gets short, they're playing closer to optimally.

I don't like 8-handed either. Pots are smaller on average. I like big pots.
