This is getting absurd at this point. I lose an enormous bomb pot and suddenly I’m only up 275. Decide to leave to get some air and walk around. Pocket 200, put 75 on 3 numbers of roulette and:

I missed out on the ATS as I rolled a 7 when the point was off, but ended up rolling and hitting points basically nonstop for 15 minutes. This was the first good roll I had since my limited play this trip. Was so much fun!

I crashed around 3 pm, completely exhausted. Woke up at 1 am, worked a little bit and then hit the tables.

Dare we ask what the profit number was for yesterday? I’m sure it wasn’t quite as clean as the posts but…one for the ages!

Yeah I left the room with $1000 and came back with $7500, that’s after buying a couple of gifts for the family for maybe $400-ish + lunch at Javiers.

So $6900 profit? Something like that.

Sad part is that I am STILL stuck around 5-6k but at this point I don’t really care anymore. We have clawed back from the deepest pits of hell and whatever happens in the next 48 hours I’m happy with it. I’ve locked up most of the money from yesterday so can’t be a total disaster

I’ll update if something interesting happens, but as far as anything goes the trip is over. Flying out Wednesday evening and will be a loooong long time before I’m coming back again. Sick and tired of everything Vegas has to offer honestly.

I was tempted to reply with "See you tomorrow" - or something along those lines - when I first read this, but I decided against it. Anyway, reposting this seems in order now:

I mean to be honest I was stuck $15k with little to no hope of recovery and had very little cash left and then out of the blue I turn it around. I was pretty tilted to say the least [emoji23]

I tried playing at Wynn, one time so I could say I did. It was late at night and they opened a $25 min table. I sat with $250, and this was quite a few years ago, when $250 was actually worth something, like a car payment. She dealt like lightning, and I was done in less than 15 minutes. I think I only won one hand.

3 days ago I wanted to go home, hating life. Now I’m on the run of my life (still not profit but it’s fine!) and feel kinda sad to go home tomorrow evening.

Sit down to a reg heavy 2/5 at Bellagio. First orbit we are in an interesting spot vs an active player. I 4bet button to 275 with JJ and he ships it in. Not much to do there but call and he shows AA. J on the flop and we are suddenly 500 in profit.

The table sucked really bad and the dealers were really slow and it was in the sportsbook area so decided to leave. Cool hourly!

I actually had a very similar hilarious story from last year I think? We are in a drunk overnight game and this fat Mexican guy keeps ordering double shots of tequila and starting fights with the dealer and everyone at the table. The table except me is 60+ so everyone sits with their head down. Every time Mexican drunk wins a pot he berates his opponent and every time he loses a pot he calls the player a mother****er and wants to fight them.

Anyway we get into a hand where he bombs flop turn river and I have the nuts and he obviously goes broke and wants to fight me. And I look at him and say okay let’s go come on! Let’s go outside.

He’s stunned. He’s speechless. Nobody had stood up against him all night. He apologised and offered to order me a shot and was quiet the rest of the night. Ordered a coffee, sobered up and walked off the table 30 minutes later.

Just to add: I’m obviously not stupid to fight anyone in Vegas. The second he actually stands up floor would 86 him. But I’m not taking ****....

Time for a tournament update! The $300 'Grand Stack' at Golden Nugget got a total of 175 entires and top 22 got paid. I will run through some of the more interesting spots that I encountered below.

I had won a few pots early and felt good about my play so far. Then I get KK in cutoff and makes it 800 over a limp for 200. BB calls, and the limper calls. K-6-6 two clubs are decent, so much that I decided to make an unusual slow play to let them catch up. Turn comes a Q and it checks to me again. I bet 1000, and BB (a fishy girl) calls.

River comes a J and she goes to lead out for 3000 (into 4700). Interesting. I assume she must be pretty strong to do so, and bump it up to 13500. She insta-jams, and after double-checking my hole cards I call (I cover her) and beat her ATo. So she backed into a runner-runner straight, and definitely overplays it a bit on the river. She didn't even stop to think what I could be raising with, but we obviously accept this good fortune and great start to the tourney.

After that I won and lost some hands and was between 80-90k for a long time (had 87600 at first break). At 600-1200-1200 it folds to SB, which is a aggressive young Asian. He limps in, and I have T5o in BB. Feel free to flame this play, but the hand is so bad that I rather just take it down pre and not having to play it versus a good player. So I make it 4000, only to see him make the call.

A-Q-8 two hearts is a good flop, and I am thinking it will be easy to get him off here. He checks, I bet 4000 again and he calls. Turn is another A, which is not ideal but after he checks I bet 7500. The idea between this somewhat small sizing is to make it seem like I have trip Aces and want a call from a Queen. He thinks for a bit and calls.

River is a T, which fills the flush. He checks, and although my plan was to go bet-bet-bet here I think the runout should make me want to put on the brakes. He could have made a flush, and he will likely be stubborn with a Q. However, if he only was being sticky with an 8, then I can beat that hand now at least. So I check back, but lose to Q9o. Maybe the whole hand is a bit unnecessary, but I also think the occasional raise with trash out of BB like this could be a viable strategy.

Down to 49500 then, but we get it back quickly. I raise TT from UTG to 2500 and get calls from SB (fish) and BB (the Asian). T-2-6 two clubs is a welcome sight, and even more so when SB leads for 3600. BB folds, and although I block top pair I chose to make it 12500 to charge flush draws. He calls quickly.

Turn comes with a 7, which shouldn't change much unless he had 89 of clubs. He checks, and the pot is already around 33k. So I just jam for his remaining stack (around 25k) but also most of my stack. He snaps and shows a weirdly played QQ, but my hand holds up to eliminate him.

I lost some back with JJ versus AQhh against the now short stacked Asian (lost the flip pre), but then win it all back a bit later when a guy on tilt jams his last 21500 (1000-1500-1500) and I find AA in BB. His J5hh was still not the best hand by the river.

I then play a very strange hand where there is a raise to 4000 from a good female player, two calls, and I have 52dd in BB. Maybe it's a fold, but it's a hand that likely shouldn't get me in much trouble. So I flick in the 2000 extra (1k-2k-2k now), and we see the fun 8-2-2 flop. I check, the raiser bets 15k (!) into 18k, a splashy OMC calls, and it's on me. Whatever I do here will look super strong, so I chose to make an unusual slow play and just call. Hopefully by doing so I can maybe get my hand to look like an 8x that wants to see one more card.

Turn comes a 7 and it checks around. River is a 6, and I chose to make a very small lead of 7500 here (into 63k). In hindsight I should have gone a bit higher, but I think I lost track of the pot size a bit in this hand. Either way, the original raiser calls before the splashy OMC makes it 55k (!).

Such a weird spot where I am very underrepped and maybe what I did is too exploitable - I folded. I just didn't think this guy was capable at all of finding a bluff-raise here (even against small sizing) and it's very easy for him to have 88, 77 or 66 here as played. He is definitely the kind of guy who would call the flop with both 77 and 66, or just slowplay 88 like this. In game I liked my fold and thought it was a very easy one, but now I am not so sure.

After that I got card-dead for a long time and started to get a bit short as blinds went up. At 3000-6000-6000 an erratic Spanish-speaking player jams for around 80k from 3rd pos, and it folds to me in BB with 58k behind after posting. I look down at 99, and make the call. He has KQo but we somehow fade all danger on a low board.

Much needed double-up then, and shortly after we go to dinner break with 39 players left. I had 147000 chips, and blinds would be 4k-8k-8k after the break (sorry for unclear picture here):

I managed a quick visit back to my room here at Plaza for some food and a shower, before heading back to Golden Nugget. Not too much happened for a while after the break, but I did manage to win the occasional hand here and there to stay afloat. And players were busting rather quickly. At times I was down to 110k at 10000-15000-15000 during the bubble, but I knew there were at least 2 shorter stacks than me in the room and waited it out. And thankfully the bubble burst after only 5-6 hands of H4H-play.

Then with 19 players left we have a raise of 30000 from a fishy middle-aged female, SB calls, and I find AKo in BB. We jam for 135k in total, and after thinking about it for a while the original raiser announces call. SB folds out, and we have a classic flip versus her 88.

2-8-T-A-5

Sigh. So close, and even hitting the Ace was not enough. 19th place for $548 USD was the result.

Overall though I am very happy with how I played. I cannot think of any gigantic mistakes that I made, although there are obviously debatable spots (like the 52-fold on river). And I am certainly very happy with getting 'on the board' in my first proper tournament this Vegas-summer. At the same time, I would have had 350k if AK wins that flip, and that could have given me a real shot at making the Final Table (was around $11500 on top).

But such is the tournament life, and all I can do is to just keep putting myself in spots and hope for some run good towards the end.

Going extremely smoothly. Sit down at Aria 1/3. Get into an argument with a giant douchebag who tries to angle shoot a guy and then berates the dealer. Basically tell him he’s a horrible human being, dealer lady did nothing wrong. Poor dealer was pretty intimidated. Just be friendly to your dealers people, it’s such a shameful behaviour really.

Anyway 1 hour later same guy ships it in with AK vs my AA and we hold obviously for the lot:
