Line Check with TPTK Multiway Oop vs. Therapy Dog

1/2

V (325) bought in for 500 with a therapy dog on his lap. In one hour, he drank two Red Bulls and played thirteen hands, no three-bets, around 40/15/0. He immediately misbehaved, getting angry at the dealer.

Hero (covers) three-bet once and has also maybe a 40/15/2 image? V only sees the world in his lens.

OTTH

Hero UTG bets 10 with AhKs. LJ and V on the button call.

Flop (29 after rake): 8d6dKc

Hero bets 10. LJ folds. V raises to 30. Hero all in.

If your goal was to get as much money as possible in on this flop, I might have gone for a check-raise. I think the b3b jam starts to fold out a lot of his dominated hands (KQ, KJ, etc.) and risks only getting called by same/better, with the possible exception of a mega draw like KXdd or MAYBE something like T9dd (if he even raises that) and you are basically flipping with those hands anyway.

I don’t dislike this play. It’s a put up or shut up play that will make villain think twice about making a move going forward. Still, there may have been an alternative.

Knowing he’s playing a wide range doesn’t tell me how’s he playing them. Passive (no 3Bets) but he raised you - I don’t know his patterns but should that raise alarms.

It begins to look like a pissed off at the dude and shove, overplaying top top. Likely there’s a fold coming, but if he did hit, you probably won’t catch up. You certainly priced out chasing a draw.

He may be pushing a position raise and hoping for the turn FreeCard. Only you know his intentions & it may be hard to explain how you do, but I trust your judgement - prob a good play.

So you're losing to AA or KK, but the problem is V has given you nothing to rule those hands out. All the sets are in his range, and even passive players can sometimes go berserk with K 9 or 7 5 here.

I'd need to know he's capable of stacking off with KQ before going for the throat so early.

I wouldn’t assume H is ahead at this point in the hand. V has sets, every 2p and huge draws. Seems like an overplay.

So villain played 13 hands...you already know him enough to bet/3bet shove on this flop?????

Most unknowns here are only going to call your 3bet shove with combo draws + two pairs or better.

Even if this was played online, I still need to see villain is capable of stacking off with tpnk first before making such play.

When facing a flop raise, this is easy call and evaluate with only tptk. We can even make a tight fold sometimes.
I don't mind getting it in if this was a 3bet pot, but it's just a SRP.

So villain played 13 hands....

He VPIP'd about 13 hands and folded 17.

Results

V goes into the tank for a minute and folds.

When V tanked, I was hugely relieved. I thought V now doesn't have the sets, and he may very well make a big mistake here, folding AK or 86 or perhaps calling KQ or a flush or straight draw.

Thanks for keeping me honest.

Think you could've gotten another street out of V. Glad you won though.

Real question, did V misbehave or was it the therapy dog?

I would just x if the dog were wagging its tail πŸ˜€

Did V misbehave or was it the therapy dog?

After V got stacked an orbit later, we discussed whether someone who needs a therapy dog should be gambling and drinking Red Bull. We agreed V should be neither gambling nor drinking Red Bull, but MGM brings the magic by welcoming everyone!

Why are you calling it a "therapy dog"? Did he claim he's got Social Anxiety Disorder or PTSD and needs the dog with him in order to play in a casino?

Also, your awkward attempt at a joke about whether he should gamble or use caffeine was cringy. We have enough awkward members here who make cringy/offensive observations about others.

Just don't.
