I think many if not most successful irl recreational players would enjoy the bracelet and story for the folks back home more than an extra $20-30K. I wonder if Jay Heimowitz would give up his six wins to have finished second to Moneymaker (1.3M) or Raymer (3.5M). He finished 3rd in 1980 fir $109.5K—Stu $365K Doyle $146K—and was already quite successful in business, very fit & h

You're definitely doing extremely well financially if you'd give up over 2 million for that 25k bracelet.

Wish I could remember where this is from:

“Not having something makes it easier to give away.”

It seems pretty certain who the pick will be next year. Galfond, Seiver, etc. don't have a chance.

by BullyEyelash

Barbara Enright should definitely be in before Kathy, and a lot of men too.

It’s the Hall of Fame, not the Hall of Interesting Trivia.

It’s the Hall of Fame, not the Hall of Interesting Trivia.

Besides the ME final table, Barbara Enright won 3 bracelets. First woman to do anything like that. Was a while ago, but she belongs in the HOF more than some other people in it.

I'm not sure who you mean. To me it's still Isai.

If you mean the Grinder...his history plus this one series probably puts him in the conversation but man it's hard to see going from "not on the ballot" to "it's you" in one year.

Lol, that is what will happen, regardless of not on ballot previously. 4th PPC and ME (or possibly 2nd) in same year! Isei may deserve it, but Seiver and Galfond probably have a better chance. Anyway, there is a huge backlog of qualified candidates at this point.

There is no question who will be elected for the hall of fame next year , idk why we are even having this discussion .

But there are too many deserving people who should be in the hall of fame . They can’t induct just one person a year . Going to the system that MLB uses seems most appropriate. Sure, if they do that 10 people might get in during the first year, but there’s a big backlog of players from the early days of the poker boom. Once the majority of those players get in , the amount elected per year will drop significantly to one or two a year.

Everyone knows that Robl is the top, top, top boss for cash. A few tournaments are overrated. He's the one guy who will play 10/20+. No one else without substantial backing will.

Robl is the all-time cash game player...he should get in when he turns 40

Not sure a MLB like system would work for poker at all. It doesn't have the same back ground and general knowledge base.

aaaaand he's already in.

aaaaand he's already in.

In immediately by special exception. Negreanu and Hellmuth called for that earlier today.

Lol, people saying he wasn't a shoe in next year.

Robl will be eligible in 2027. Not a lock he gets in with one per year.

The system is fine, but they need to go back to two a year. Too big a backlog of qualified candidates.

The poker HOF inductees are chosen by old school players already in. It is heavily weighted towards tournament players, the WSOP, mixed games, and having a reputation for beating high or nosebleed stakes cash games live. Schulman is a good choice, but he fits almost all of those criteria. Mizrachi did something spectacular at the WSOP. They may not be the choices some people here would make.

I understand why someone would want to see a museum about like, Ty Cobb, Henry Aaron, and the history of the sport.

I don't see a reason for a poker HOF at all.

Prisoners of the moment.

Negreanu, Hellmuth, Hennigan, and Harmon were at the HOF ceremony on short notice. It is the players in the HOF who decide who gets in, and presumably they decided this induction was appropriate. The PPC is a slow structure tournament with almost all strong pros, mostly high stakes players. The ME is obviously a high stakes tournament with about 10,000 entries. Winning his 4th PPC by itself and winning the PPC and the ME by itself would be incredible achievements. That is the way those big names think. I realize people here know that some online players or whomever are more deserving.

Lol those thinking he might not get in next year, because he has never been on the ballot.

The HOF isnt some feel good clown car. It should be tough to get in instead of having too many slots where undeserving people sneak in like Devilfish.

Winning a 2nd PPC should be automatic HOF nomination, it is rediculous Grinder wasnt nominated yet. What an insane year, giving Grinder insta induction is making up for the mistake of him not being in yet.

I didn't expect it but I support it.

Nonetheless, the whole thing is a joke until Isai is inducted.

The poker hof is too much of a good old boys club but it's only sort of real, there's no poker hall of fame building. Not that big a deal.

Grinder would've had a better resume than the entire list *combined* if they waited till next year.

How is he ranked skill wise against the top pros - is he actually really good?

Not sure that even matters. Didn’t Elezra get in for being one of the biggest donators in Bobby’s Room lol?

anyone saying grinder isnt deserving of HOF after his WSOP wins plus his last 15 yrs is mad

ELi elezra being there the way he looked like a local crack head is bad

Yeah, they wouldn't induct him immediately without a reason. What is the problem with some people?

Funny enough, I was having a discussion with someone at the tables a few weeks back and I argued Mizrachi was HOF worthy even before the ME win but this should cement it for sure.
