Bike 40/80 - Set

Recreational player who plays OK opens in MP. Folded to me OTB and I 3bet 55. Blinds fold, MP 4bets, I call.

Flop J57r. He bets. I decide to call and raise 100% of turn cards. Thoughts on the merits of this approach compared to raising now? I know his range is very strong and unbalanced once he 4bets OOP but I am not sure which way this tilts.

Yeah in these heads up spots I always just call to protect my other hands I just want to call with

You have to peel fairly broadly on this texture closing the action getting that price. So there's a lot of value in protecting that wide range by not raising this hand. Maybe not raising any hand, particularly if you think he'll barrel many turns.

Different texture, smaller pot, you might have (more) raises because you're folding more frequently. Calling gives away information there.

Hat tip to @DeathDonkey for covering similar concepts in his recent lhe vids.

Good plan. You could also consider sometimes calling turn, too. If villain's double barrels are over-weighted toward value, then just raise pure on turn I think.
