Interested in this discussion because the ruling seems to make sense to me. Not the specific instance which is 'orrible but in general.

So SCOTUS said it has to be a class action lawsuit to get a nationwide injunction at the district level, appeal courts can still impose nationwide injunctions as before, did I get that correctly?

In the specific instance they didn't rule on the constitutionality of the order so democrat response to this is really a vile attempt to conflate the issue of an EO which is clearly unconstitutional (*but wasn't the topic of the decision*) with the issue of injunctions which were clearly abused and had to be reined in.

I don't expect anything better from them but still, really really absurd reaction

We don't need no constitution....

I was referring to Trump v Casa. I guess we need to have the executive branch act unconstitutionally and deport a bunch of kids born here before they can make the determination if an executive order can overturn a constitutional amendment. Bunch of clowns.

That's how everyone on the right has felt for 60+ years. Every decision made against the core values of the constitution in favor of leftism.

Now it's payback time. Except the right doesn't need to warp.the constitution, as the constitution as written is extremely rightwing.

There are no district court level national injunctions in the constitution btw.

You just complain because your goals are thwarted. Like every leftist you never for a single second cares about what the constitution says about anything.

If it agrees with you you cite it, if it doesn't you find invented words in the penumbra to rule the opposite

How could you possibly have any context on how Americans have felt for the last 60 years?

You do realize most people weren't radical asshats until around Obama? Most people were reasonable blokes who didn't wish harm on their neighbors. Its a very recent thing that more and more people are legitimately radical in their ideas

You are quite literally one of the last people I would ever ask to ever explain the "values" of the constitution because you don't even know what "values" are, let alone American values

Its like me ranting about the Italians missing the warm embrace of Mussolini style rule for the last 80 years. Desperate for the olden days when they could lynch the brown people who are unwelcome in their country.

Sounds compelling to morons but its overwhelming nonsense

The 14th amendment couldn't be any clearer. Although the ruling didn't specifically overturn it, the sc basically said they won't do anything to stop trump from violating it. Much like most of their decisions. They support a fascist dictator. Anybody that believes we have another presidential election is delusional.

Would be surprised if someone doesn't offer you an escrowed wager at even money.

Nah it's British prison slang for sex offender. I think it started as an acronym from prison officials as guidelines.

Not
On
Normal
Communal
Exercise

(otherwise the other prisoners would have a game of slash/scald/burn the sex offender)

It's basically the equivalent of chomo, only broader and would probably include rapists.

Guy Ritchie does not do a good job of contextualizing that word with its use in his movies

So, if being born here doesn't make you a us citizen, what does?

by Luciom

The kids can sue

No ****, Sherlock. Other than the barriers of money and power and perhaps location, kids have easy access to the court system

Of course in Lociumtopia the current administration would all be subjected to firing and imprisonment if they tried to follow through on the executive order.

Trump, Bondi and Miller approving of your skin color?

by jjjou812

Trump, Bondi and Miller approving of your skin color?

That for starters, but it will evolve into anyone opposing trump.

When the sc rubber stamps anything they do, they will do anything.

fwiw birthright citizenship being granted to people who are not in the country legally is very unique to the united states

the overwhelming majority of countries do not have that

for example, not a single country in europe has it

i know the right has been working to change judges for many decades.

you can deny they was the explicit will of right-wing people in the USA for decades, but it simply was.

if 40%+ of voters voted for Mussolini - style policies you would have a point.

unclear what you mean about lynching though we had 0 brown/black people in Italy in 1930. we aren't the USA

Reagan won almost all states though. your country has for long been right-wing. you are the minority

by biggerboat

So, what makes me a citizen?

in normal countries, your parents being citizens. that's 80%+ of the countries in the world.

doesn't matter for the USA because your constitution says otherwise
