That Defensive line is gonna keep this team in a lot of games. Dabol and the GM are fighting for their jobs. they know Russ can win games. If Dart gets in there it's because he is the real deal or the Giants are out of the playoff hunt.

From a fantasy football stand point James would probably be best for the Giants. If the Giants want to win some games while Dart gets ready Russ is the guy. Also, if you like pick 6's then absolutely James. Both Russ and James are high up on the creep meter. Russ hasn't been accused of sexual assault so there's that. I suppose I do get why you like James.
Dunno about anyone else but I'm looking forward to Giants fans getting their hopes and expectations up, only to get Rustled, hard.

It's more fun to speculate a couple months before the season starts. I don't think they are gonna win "a ton of games". If the Giants exceed win expectations this year it won't be because of their offense. If the defense is good I think Russ can manufacture 7 or 8 wins.

Don’t see them sniping DEN or LAC. To be super nitty: 10+ point favorites only win something like ~85% of the time, so even an Eagles or WAS snipe is possible too - but those errors work symmetrically (that is - it applies to that Saints game too)

I didn't realize how brutal the Giants schedule is. They could steal a couple divisional games. I think 7 games is a real possibility. I'm not gonna put any money on this. My point originally was that I think Russ wins the job. I think he is capable of winning games. He still has the arm talent but he has lost the elite escapability. If you are a Giant fan I would advise not watching the post game press conference.
Last year the Broncos over/under was 5.5. They won ten games. I remember going through the schedule thinking a lot of no's that they ended up winning. The Giants aren't as talented but I do think they could have a significant upgrade at QB over what they have had in the past.

I'm not endorsing mongidig's take exactly, but I agree simply on the premise that NYG will probably surprise in a couple spots (or their opponents will flop) and exceed 4.5. Stupid things happen in the NFL, lots of year to year parity.
NYG is 3-13 against PHI in the same span.
They're also 9-7 against WAS in the same span.
Sure, WAS is a different team going forward than the previous ~7 seasons. Maybe everything is working against the Giants at this very moment, but maybe DAL falls off, or PHI has a disaster injury or something.
Also the line is closer to 5.5 (+120) than it is 4.5 (-180). The extra W makes a big difference. (I realize 5.5 was listed above but then the conversation moved to 4.5)
yeah I don't expect much of any wins from the NY Football Giants this upcoming season.
Miami has a better chance of beating the Bills by 6+ than the Giants do of winning against Dallas (assuming Dak is playing).
