This thread delivers more quality posts than ANY other on 2+2. I have about 10 days coming up in Las Vegas, so I think I'm set.....

Thanks to all.

Clearly you aren't reading the Vloggers thread.

been wondering how Bank's new shot at another side of Thai place might turn out
unsurprising all signs in the halls of pool opinion appear to be in the positive pocket

Went to Lamaii for restaurant week. I was hyped because of this thread. I left disappointed.

I ordered the restaurant week menu (oh hamachi, tom kah gooong, tiger steak, mango sticky rice) as well as the garlic green beans, the panang with the crispy duck and rice, and a dok lamaii.

According to my partner, the best part of the entire meal was the mango sticky rice. I thought it was the hamachi as it was the most flavorful. The Tom kah goong was watered down. And the tiger steak was grey/ brown!!! I wish I had a picture of this pitiful steak.

Now, the panang with the crispy duck. I was most excited about this dish. The flavor of the panang was great. Delicious. The crispy duck was a complete bust. It did nothing for the dish. The duck was tough. It was like I was flossing with the duck meat.

The garlic green beans were tasty but standard compared to other Asian restaurants.

I would not recommend and am not planning on returning.

Panang Curry with Crispy Duck

much appreciation for your most unbiased review of food you never actually tasted

wj94, how many people did all those dishes feed? Looks awesome.

I’d say it would feed 3-4. It was just two of us but we could’ve stopped after the first 4 dishes and took 2.5 of them home. It was great, have to go back soon.

Forgot the pic but here to nominate Howlin Ray’s for best chicken sandwich on planet earth.

EDO closing in September, to become something else.

What? I thought Edo was very popular -- why would it close? I really enjoyed it and was planning to go back.

It's hard to believe I'll find anything I like better than good old Chick-fil-A, but I'll give it a try.

sounds like Chef Edo will keep the location and open a new concept.

Prepare to have your mind blown

Not really dining but Scissors and Scotch has Woodford Double Double Oaked for $10 a pour with the haircut. Sick value considering it’s $200 a bottle retail (if you can find it) and any bar/restaurant that has it charges $50-60 a pour.

And it’s really, really good.

:p

Hey... where is a good off strip seafood restaurant? Not in Chinatown

I made it to Howling Ray's. Let me tell you that this was the best chicken tender I've ever had. Whatever magic they're working in the back, it's working.

The chicken was moist and tender. The breading was light, crispy, and actually stayed on with every bite. At other spots, most tenders are over breaded and dry.

Howling Ray's is next level.

They’re sprinkling crack on everything in the back. I’ve eaten there like 10 times since they opened a few weeks ago. The “hot” tender was pretty damn spicy. I think medium is the best overall.

two newish low post accounts with coordinated support of a particular popular place

A brand new place no less.

I went there based on your rec, WJ.

I tried the country and mild. Mild had a hint of spice. My partner said it was too spicy for her. I'll have to try the medium next time I make it that way. I still have to try the fries too.

damn... I need that for last nights diner, so I went to Lotus of Siam in RR... the worst diner I have had in MANY years. horrible service and food just tastes like sugar.

never again.

I will definitely try Naxos... it does indeed look good. have you eaten at Mr T's?

I hit up carnitas y tortas, Guadalajara over on warm springs. As soon as I walked in during lunch and heard mostly Spanish being spoken and saw those big agua fresca jugs, I knew I was in for something legit.

We ordered the pastor torta ($15), chips and guac ($13), carnitas taco ($5), asada taco ($5) and a horchata ($5). I totally forgot to snap the pics of the tacos as we were hungry.

The pastor torta was good. It was juicy, flavorful meat and the bun was on point. It was crusty on top and sturdy enough to handle that tomato based sauce. It was swimming in. It was a tasty messy bite.

The guac was pretty standard but the chips? Fire. Freshly made with that good good crunch.

The horchata came from the jug and hit the spot. It came in a huge stein. Jug horchata is going to be something I order whenever I see it as it's something that rarely disappoints.

The tacos were served just how I like them, straight tortilla and meat, with onions and limes on the sides. Tortillas tasted homemade and held up nicely. The asada taco was perfectly seasoned and cooked just right. Sadly, the carnitas tacos didn't hit as it was dry and missing flavor.

They had four different hot sauces on deck.

Coffee Class is solid. Drinks not quite on par with Aware (still the best IMO) but pretty good and the pastries are epic.

Tiramisu latte - 8/10
Pico egg bowl with chicken and bacon - 8.5/10
Churro pop tart - 10/10

And a close up of the best chicken tenders on the planet from Howlin Ray’s as a bonus.
