Diamond in a Day - CET Total Rewards

Visited the casino last night. Didn't score a lot of points, but I did walk away from slot machines +435. Was with friends, watched some weiner dog races, had fun and hit a lot of small bonuses.

A report: I swiped my card at the Horseshoe kiosk to see I actually only needed to earn 2.5k TC to get a 5k daily bonus to hit Diamond. So, I hit the $5 VP in the high limit room, betting $25 per hand. I’m glad I “only” had to make 2.5k TC as it was a bloodbath, with no royal or straight flush and only one quads before I made my number.

$1,675 poorer, I am Diamond.

This brings back memories. :-(

Haven't read any replies to this -- but couldn't you just have two copies of your card and bet the remaining numbers on a second terminal?

Got an unfortunate update. Printed my Diamond card and it shows an expiration date of Jan. 31, 2026 instead of 2027. Do you think that’s because I have achieved Diamond more through credit card points than gambling?

You should automatically get a new card sent to you in Jan 2026 that has an expiration date of Jan 2027. All Diamond cards printed in 2025 will show the Jan 2026 expiration.

Yeah, cards all expire the next January, but if you log in to your online account, should show Diamond through 1-31-2027.

Will be eligible to get a card in Jan which will last until Jan ‘27. But I have never heard of having a card sent to me. Both wife and myself have been Diamond Elite or Seven Star for at least 15 years. Neither of us ever had a card sent to us.

One yr long time back, went to Harrah NOLA in Feb and had to pay for valet because Feb was first time we had a chance to get a card for that year. So def we’re not sending out cards then.

Card expiration is one thing CET gets right is the one month overlap to get updated card. As noted every card issued in 2025 will expire 01-31-2026 but as of 01-01-2026, sometimes 01-02-2026, you will be able to get a new card that will expire 01-31-2027.

That month overlap is nice for places that charge for parking or valet and also check expiration.

Wat? They send you new cards? They have never ever sent me a new card, even though I've been a "member" for at least 10 straight years.

You’re probably right that they don’t send new cards anymore. They did when I first made Diamond like 10-15 years ago. But now that I think about it, I don’t think they mailed me one this year.

Sorry no not in the last 15+ years. Can’t remember 1st time wife or I made Diamond but it was at least 15 years ago. Back then we did not have a CET property local so we often did not get a valid card until after prior one expired. Getting one in the mail would have been great. But it never happened.

Prior to Harrahs buying CET, wife worked for Harrah analyzing high value member play. She confirmed Harrahs did not ever mail out cards.

At best maybe your VIP host did it for you as a favor but I strongly doubt it was ever a general practice.

I remember around 2010-2012, Harrah’s in Atlantic City would have an annual “Diamond Renewal Party” where they would give everyone a book of coupons with about $400 in dining credits to use at any of the Harrah’s owned restaurants in AC. Those were the days.

The renewal awards, not just Caesars but all major reward programs, used to be significant. Probably nicest I received, via wife in this case, was a Tag watch. But also over the years, some nice Cinch boots, an IPAD, decent laptop that sold for north of $1000retail, a set of 3 Dyson vacuums (tech wife and I won that playing “The Newlywed Game” with Bob Ubanks), etc. Now days you get a crappy buffet meal and either some meh luggage set or similar and maybe some cheap liquor.

Probably. Way fewer, if any, 5x 10x days. But wife is a slot degen so she doesn’t even blink to make diamond.

But now several years into being seven stars, and even the seven star gifs are crap. The seven star signature events, especially in Vegas, are not as good as the old diamond celebration events.

Now the celebration dinners $600, and travel reimbursement are nice perks but the rest meh at best.

Depends on how you went about doing it.

You used to only need 11K tier credits for Diamond.
But they didn’t have the bonuses for getting a lot of tier credits in a single day, and I don’t recall all the 5x and 10x multipliers.

However, you used to be able to get 60 TCs/hour playing 2/5 in AC.
You could also get 50 TCs/hour playing 1/3 at the old Bally’s in AC, and once a week, they gave double TCs for poker. So you’d earn 100 TC/hour, and could easily get 1000 TCs in a day.

So Diamond was actually a lot easier for poker players; I knew a few players who reached 7 stars just from poker (back then is was 100k TCs). But it’s easier now if you’re willing to put in a single big day at VP.

Did anyone else get the email today about the new Caesars Rewards credit card? They are keeping the one with a $0 annual fee but adding a new one with a $149 annual fee.

This could be a decent option for some people on here.
If you put $50k on the credit card in a year, you get a bonus 15k tier credits (which gets you Diamond) and $150 in reward credits (which compensates the annual fee), among a few other benefits.
Could be particular good for WSOP players now that you can put WSOP tournament buy-ins on a credit card.

I'm still amazed that CC companies are treating WSOP tournament buy ins as purchases and not cash advances. Certainly not mad that they are, just surprised that nobody has checked their statement and been back end charged as a cash advance.

I used PP, so I was a little less surprised. But yes. This was amazing. I mean, there are all sorts of banks which issue credit. You’d think one of them would have been like… hey, this is not a purchase. And all the big banks must have known exactly what these charges were for since all of a sudden lots of folks were charging relatively large amounts at a single vendor in Vegas. Their fraud protection algorithms would have caught on quick to make sure these were legit charges. It’s hard to know if this treatment will stick long term. But for now, it was a huge convenience to players and a boon to the WSOP.

Also amazing was the lack of a fee on the part of the WSOP. I don’t know the ins and outs, but I imagine the WSOP must have eaten the fee, which was probably something on the order of 1-2% per entry. Given the ease of buying in w/electronic funding I have no doubt in my mind they made more money by not charging a fee. This must have especially been true in the lower buy-in events.

I hope things are the same next year and going forward, and the policies are even more clear to players ahead of time. I feel like I am going to have to continue to travel with cash for some time just in case something is different. I wouldn’t want to find myself on site and suddenly there are huge fees or charging on credit cards is not treated the same. But the purchase process this year could not have been more convenient. Kudos to GG and the WSOP for a fabulous improvement in what was one of the more frustrating aspects of previous series.

Good to know they take PayPal. I haven't played a WSOP tournament since 2004. Been thinking about going next year and playing the seniors for shits and giggles Everyone seems to love the app. Thanks for the info.

I really hope they continue to offer credit card/PayPal purchases with no fee in the future, but it do somewhat worry they just did it temporarily to ease the transition to the app. (And this appears to have worked, as everyone seems to love the app once they managed to get verified).

WSOP raised the rake slightly this year, but the effective rake ended up being a bit lower for me than in the past once I factored in the points I got on my card.
