PokerGo snoozefest for the 2025 WSOP stream
Could PokerGo have created a more boring schedule to stream at this years WSOP? Looks like they are streaming 30 events,
HCL has a consistency that WSOP can't have which is a huge part of getting popular in the streaming ecosystem. Also Pokergo has shown to make terrible business decisions for no good reason time and time again. Just recently why was the Dnegs + Kabrhel table not shown but we got to watch Vogelsang and 8 other GTO mutes instead while its justified because "were being fair to all
Yes it’s fair to rotate the tables so one group isn’t on televised table and showing cards the entire time and other isn’t.
It’s not a business decision
If Kabrhel makes it onto a streamed final table, then there is nothing to be done about it, but PokerGo oughtn't go out of their way to stream his scumbaggery just to snag some of those rando eyeballs. One of the big problems with televised poker, ongoing since the boom years, is the way the producers valorize bad behavior because it makes poker seem less boring to viewers. It'
You just said it. I value having dumb sht televised to generate views and go viral online vs having distinguished gentlemen sitting around being polite and maybe having a nice conversation for 5 minutes of an hour. You can pick either side but one of those sides grows poker and one of them kills it. We just saw a NFL player in a fight get a bunch of attention lately, is Vogelsangs 3 minute tank into a 2nd pair call being talked about anywhere?
Player lineups on HCL (and its predecessor Live at the Bike) have been curated for entertainment value. WSOP final tables are comprised of the people who win their way onto them. Guess which one is more likely to titillate random watchers' eyeballs. If Kabrhel makes it onto a streamed final table, then there is nothing to be done about it, but PokerGo oughtn't go out of their wa
They've had chances to stream well known players like Hellmuth, but haven't. Benny Glazer could win his 3rd of the series and 8th overall tonight and his only 36 years old. They've had plenty of chances to have a secondary table setup just in case someone (and they usually do in these small field pro heavy mixed fields) but right now 6k viewers are snoozing away to the Seniors. Gus Hansen has made one FT, we saw zero of it. PokerGO could have something set up to take advantage of known players but instead would worry about filming a $1,500 Monster Stack so they can edit for a streaming cable network that no one watches. I can't think of any other niche market game or sport that doesn't go out of their way to film everything. But poker's biggest event comes up and it will only show the FT of something they can edit for a network no one watches. It doesn't serve the niche community thats slowly dying out and moving on.
They are televising day 3 of the Poker Players Championship, which is today. Hellmuth and Negreanu will be at the same table, so that should be the featured table. Lindgren has a big lead with 33 left, 17 places paying! Lots of big names of course, including Matusow, Glaser, Vitch, Ausmus, and Obst.

Unfortunately they seem to have pulled the plug on the first half of the day, so who knows what the tables will look like by evening. Coverage was supposed to start at 2 local but is now listed at 7

Amazing how Triton can easily livestream 12+ hours per day during their festivals and a paid product like PokerGo struggles to show us more than a few hours on a good day.
Amazing how a non NL stream gets 8x the views of the ladies event and 3x the seniors event. Wonder why.
The 50k PPC is arguably the best tourney of the entire series especially with Blez doing the high level commentary. It’s fun to watch the top elite pros playing a slow 5 day structure of mixed games in a small, concentrated field of all mostly all big names. It was good for the game seeing DNegs win it last year and it would be awesome to see golden era guys like Hellmuth, Matusow, Lindgren, or Mizrachi make it to the final table.
The only other tourneys that match the same star power or prestige would be the Main Event or the Super High Roller. But for the purist fans out there, this PPC event reigns supreme as it has NLH + mixed games.
PPC is always gonna get streamed, they could do all NLH but teh one stream they will obv show is PPC since all the names come out forit
glad they got blez to do com
yeah hes been great and I love how he says his opinion,

Nothing Amazing about it, the ppc is always the most watched event besides the Main. No one cares about some old dudes and women playing terrible, obvouisly no one is going to watch that but imagine if they didn't stream the Ladies event? The **** they would have got for that. Not even worth the trouble.

You realize the hospital sterile environment the high rollers cultivated has chased off every English speaking whale? Let alone how many millions of viewers? When Martin takes 29 seconds to make an easy fold yes that is bad. But simply being loud and trying to make poker tournaments social, is a good thing. These rich nerds should not be entitled to absolute silence and decorum.

If you are entertaining in those 29 seconds people don't notice the tank. Did anyone ever complain about all those Sammy Farha tanks back in the day?
When you have a custom NIT hoodie, earphones, scarf, backpack, never saying a word, not moving at all, moving 1 arm like a robot, you are killing the game. Martin is the anti NIT even though some of his antics are annoying overall hes great for poker and I am happy hes stirring the NIT pot.
Overall the commentary has been horrendous. Most of the commentators don't play the stakes of the games they are commenting on.
Blez was a welcomed exception to the blithering idiots advertising freerolls on repeat.

I also liked Kevin Gerhart commentating on the PPC. The guy has 4 bracelets, in razz, PLO, PLO8, and Horse, and to me did some nice hand breakdowns.
On the later part of day 4 of the PPC, Matusow and Lindgren were at the same table. They televised the other table with Mizrachi, Lamb, Kenney, and Vitch.
I love Kabrhel. I’m also a Kassouf fan. More should be done to encourage table talk. The more the non-verbal autistic nits feel uncomfortable at the table, the better
Looks like they cancelled the 10k plo that was supposed to be streamed tonight.
edit: I was wrong it's tomorrow.
