That story would be more honest if it said, "Lone doctor who serves tiny Nebraska town in the middle of nowhere retires after 30 years."
That clinic is one of those places that literally closes for lunch because the guy working the counter needs time to take a piss and eat his sandwich.
That town has been trying to attract new residents for years, even going so far as to hand out free land and cash incentives for people to build homes. They have not been successful because it's located just outside Bum****, NE, and is 200 miles from the closest major city.

you seem a bit cope-y today. please keep us apprised of how the slumlording goes
Really saddened to hear Michael Madsen died. He was the quintessential tough guy.
RIP

This is an extremely important message that I want to take a second to amplify. Walking and controlling portions are SO important and so easy. Of course, the walking can be easier than controlling portions for many that struggle with that, but DO AT LEAST THE WALKING for awhile and you will find it can help mentally with the portion control. If you can, WALK. Walk, walk, walk, w
I'll add that weightlifting, especially heavy lifting (when can be done safely) is the nuts outside of diet. And I think, if possible, that should be the goal for most people looking to improve their health or to even lose weight.
For me, the high intensity for the heart, bone health, raising testosterone, getting stronger, sleep, mood, and also being able to eat more because your body demands more calories is all helpful. You also burn a shitload amount of calories doing it so don't think you're not also getting the fat burn.
I think it's starting to come around but still underrated for overall health imo.
You doofus, that's the entire roster of the massive medical group that individual clinic belongs to.
Your average McDonalds has a larger footprint than this thing.

"Community Hospital" is the administrative arm that handles the clinic billing and regulatory needs, hosts their software, etc. The clinic itself is a glorified first-aid station with a Temu x-ray machine but not enough space to use it for anything other than broken arms.

wow those 65 medical staff all work in that building? that's more cramped that alligator alcatraz
i always knew we were fat but it's pretty horrifying seeing it after living amongst normal sized people most of your life
it absolutely disgusts me that we allowed our culture to normalize obesity as normal, out of your control, and perfectly healthy

Yeah I'm aware of all that you doofus. They are shutting down two more clinics soon too.
Just pointing out that your cope is through the roof about "one singular doctor ready to retire" and now you are coping more with "glorified first-aid station with temu x-ray"
When I think critical community medical facility, I definitely think only open 7½ hours a day, 4 days a week.
Try not to get maimed by your combine on the weekends, please.

Yeah there was some flat out gaslighting going on in that regard and it was pretty disturbing actually.

^^ I mean seriously wtf? 😵

There was (still is?) a movement in the medical community called "Health at Any Weight". This was an acknowledgement that patients were fat and that besides telling them to "have a salad", doctors should treat the whole patient as best you could. It got corrupted by the media to "Healthy at Any Weight". And so you get that Cosmo cover.
yeah like this is going to sound awful to some but it shouldn't
it'd be no different from leaving your partner for drinking too much or taking up smoking - active choices they make which make you less attracted to them
but at some point in all my relationships i make it pretty clear that while we can both gain weight and even become overweight, that's not the goal and that neither of us should ever be selfish enough to ever become obese
it's always gone over well and if it didn't, that'd be a major red flag to me indicating we wouldn't have a long term future anyway
i say this fully understanding at least half of you reading this are obese and/or partnered up with someone obese - that's not a personal judgement on you, i have obese friends - i'm just never going to want to stick my dick in you - which is something you'd probably prefer anyway 😀
To be fair, your inability to consume [bad] carbs gives you a cheat-code in that department.
So far today, I've consumed nothing but Kit Kat bars from the office candy station.

obesity is a moral failure, at a minimum it means you lack willpower and that generalizes devastatingly in all life issues, it's the reddest of red flags even worse than being a leftist
but in all seriousness, nothing makes me sadder than visiting a friend i haven't seen in a long time and discovering in that interim they and/or their partner have become obese where i am just so sad for them - especially when it's not them who got obese but their partner and they have been conditioned to where not accepting their doubling or tripling in size since they first began dating indicates they are bad people or never loved them so they just silently grin and bear it

Sure, strength training is great.
At the end of the day, ending a sedentary lifestyle it is about finding something you will be able to contently keep on doing regularly for a long time.
I tend to recommend walking for people starting out. It gets people used to spending a bit on time on physical activity, and once they get to a point of that becoming habit they can plan for other things (if any) they want to do.
What is also good about walking is that it is low barrier to entry, requires minimal investment, can be done pretty much at any time almost anywhere, and it can be scaled to fit any fitness level; from a proverbial walk in the park to hikes that can challenge the fittest people around. It is also an excellent partner to any other form of exercise.
Since this is an important topic I'm going to temporarily suspend my policy of completely ignoring your df posts to correct this so there is no confusion. I said weight loss is good for your overall health, not if you lose weight your overall health will be good (no matter how you lose it). It's honestly a pretty shty move to obfuscate health advice to try to score petty intern
It sums up MAGA, doesn't it? If people are happy, ruin the mood. If someone is helpful, mock them until they stop. If something is constructive, derail it.
There must be constant drama and trolling to suck every bit of joy from the world. Because in a world operating at normal volume, the sound of their constant shuffle to follow an embarrassing moron would be pathetic.

yeah not being able to casually eat mcdonald's and a number of other convenient but unhealthy stuff such as kit kats has been a huge blessing
i'm often tempted but then when i'm up until 3 am pooping and fending off a migraine and just feeling lethargic with really bad skin the rest of the week i'll remember why i avoid that stuff in the first place
i'll usually eat stuff like fruit on road trips and i travel a lot so that's huge because otherwise i'd definitely be eating way more of the stuff available at highway rest stops
tbf you come across as angry and stressed every day.
Inso is a Stoic compared to you.
As for me, I'm just as pleased as punch to be here. And I appreciate your forbearance with me.
you are so ridiculously annoying and I would appreciate it if you talked more politics and did less argument stalking
