$5/$5 River Decision with 2nd set
Villain is an older reg that I see at the casino often but rarely get to play with. He buys in for the minimum and is somewhat nitty AFAIK. 30 minutes prior, I was all in in a hand where I was BB with KJhh and CO raised to $20 and villain flatted OTB and the fish in the SB jammed AIPF for $75 in the SB. I called the $75, CO folds and BTN jams for $295 more. I ranged him at 22-TT and made the call and stacked his AQo. I know it is a mistake to be calling with KJs OOP but the fish was just throwing his money with whatever.
Hero is UTG with Q♠Q♣ $700
Villain is SB with ~$650
Hero raises to $25, BTN calls, Villain calls in the SB.
Flop $80 K♥5♥7♣
Checks around
Turn 8♣
Villain bets for $40, Hero calls, BTN folds
River Q♦
Villain bets $125
Hero??
A buddy of mine says this is just a call outside of a 3bet pot. I said we are missing value from 78, 77, 88, 55, some rare KQ (i block most). Not sure in a live nitty game where river bets and raises are rarely bluffs.
Spoiler
Hero jams $600+
Spoiler
Villain calls with 69o

Wat???
Fold on the turn with 2nd pair. You hit your one clean out on the river. Get your money in as fast as possible.
You checked the flop, so you think you're behind. So why did you call this turn if you're not going to jam when you hit?
I haven't looked at the reveal yet.
Grunch:
FLOP - I probably c-bet here, at least some of the time, for a small size. Yes, I realize the K is an over-card to our QQ, but we can't just check every time we raise pre and an over-card to our PP comes out. We'll have a lot of Kx in our range here, and our opponents are going to have a lot of worse hands that will peel.
TURN - As played to this point, it seems like a standard call. Occasionally, I might find a raise if my read is that V's range is going to be draw-heavy.
RIVER - Are we worried about straights? If V gets here with 96s or 64s, so be it. This seems like a pretty obvious raise for value. If we're worried, we could min-click it and fold to a 3B. But mostly, I'd just be thinking about how much we could extract from 2P or a worse set.
Now off to read the reveal...
Annndddd...hero jammed. Okay. Seems fine. I assume we either won, or lost to a straight? If we lost to a straight, that sucks, but it happens. It'll happen more when we miss a c-bet with our big pairs as the PFR.
