Happy Joey Chestnut day!

4th of July is not complete without a few dozen hot dogs being
eaten by Joey Chestnut.

Congratulations Joey!

As if anything else couldn't go wrong while I was away, my bedroom TV is done. I've been very loyal to Sony, but the Samsung frame TVs look nice. I know this isn't the right thread and probably not the right forum, but I thought marknfw posted here about a frame type of TV.

I'll look for the appropriate A/V thread later today.

I didn't get the Samsung Frame, although I did consider them. I ended up getting an LG OLED Gallery. It sits super tight to the wall like a Frame, but supposedly better quality picture. Then I ended up putting some different arts on a usb and using that as the screen saver. I think the Frame would be 100x better though, for that purpose, as everything I put on the LG, the TV is still lit up, so it never really looks like art hung on the wall, it always just looks like art on the TV.

I made a small breakthrough on my bottom deal today. I've been practicing obsessively for a week. Mechanics grip if anyone has any pointers.

get real art... you'll thank me later.

I wouldn't suggest a 'frame' for content viewing... I mean any monitor would work, but the frame is marketed specific to being a static display unit.

if would help if you could describe what display technology you were comfortable with and what price point is palatable... also what screen size are you looking for.

I was going to say price isn't an issue, but if there is anyone that would link a $50k TV it would be you.

It's only for my bedroom, so it doesn't need to be amazing. The only reason that I like the frame TV for this space is the low profile in an area where you actually walk by the TV (as opposed my family room where it's above the fireplace and and you almost never walk by it).

55-60" should be fine.

β€œHey guys, I’m looking for a good movie to watch. Any suggestions?”

β€œYou should read a book instead… you’ll thank me later.”

are you comfortable with OLED or would prefer an LED monitor... the main difference being the OLED is a more accurate monitor from a color stand point, but can suffer from ghosting and image retention is images are left on the screen for inordinately long periods of time... screen burn... and also, they dont get as bright as an LED monitor can achieve. this last point about brightness levels are less of an issue if the monitor is used in a dark room.

LED can superior in many ways, except for slightly less color accuracy, in that they are much brighter luminance than OLED, they can sustain static images indefinitely without suffering from image retention and look very good in terms of overall image representation.

LED tends to be lower cost than OLED also.

I mean, perhaps you know all this already. my suggestion is that unless you are looking for the delta of performance on a large format screen, go with LED... specially if you are watching a lot of broadcast content.

so you are in that 55" or 65" category. 10 inches makes a lot of difference.

if you are partial to Sony... I can not recommend the Bravia 9 65" highly enough... as long as your source material can do it justice.

it's like having a conversation with someone about the price of tea in china, and some random TOURIST yells out "yeah, but what about those Dodgers"...
-yeah, it's just like that.

not trying to be aloof, would a bath tub be better or worse?

Hmmm. I think sink’s gotta be worse. But, maybe that’s because I’m more likely to come across this issue in a sink that isn’t mine. Such as a break room sink at work, which is the initial source of this gripe.

just tell me where to drop ship it

There’s already a holder like that next to the sink. It sits empty. Buncha savages in this town.

I know all you guys love Bob Dylan too. Want to see how a man can waste a couple of months of his life?

I plotted every known concert Dylan has played since 1957 onto an interactive map. There is no reason to do this other than to see if I could. Which sometimes is a good enough reason.

It would make me happy if someone other than myself looked at it. You don't have to. If you do, please know that there is no tracking, no ads, no commercial purpose whatsoever, Just a passion project. If you visit, I won't know unless you say so here. It is best on a desktop. Not great on mobile.

As far as I can tell, this is unique on the internet. Of course it is. Who the hell else would do it?

If you don't want to visit the site, that is cool - here is a screenshot -

Masterful!

A true passion project!

Absolutely amazing, I love it!

I would have rather seen that one than the one concert of his that I did see. I'm not complaining though as I did finally get around to seeing him.

I appreciate you guys indulging me and taking a look. It’s all a bit silly. I’m aware.

I should have never taken that CS50 course through Harvardx. It provided too much stimulation. I just wanted to learn some Python so I could deal with some spreadsheets.

My first attempt was just a me too project. I was proud of the search capabilities but that existed in many places. I think this is pretty unique. I haven’t seen anybody plot out his entire performance history on a map.

My favorite part is the animation of the tour legs. And if I ever figure out how to turn the line that goes city to city into a little bus and then a plane when needed (I’ve got it half working with some quirks), I’ll call it quits πŸ˜€
