Be aware - CoinPoker might seize your funds out of nowhere!

(the title rhymes, it's a good start)

More seriously, I've heard and read (high stakes thread) about CoinPoker months ago but I did not open an account there since I am not familiar with the use of crypto. My interest kept growing until I read a thread and a post of a 2+2er who said that his account got locked and his funds (6 figures) confiscated without valid reason. I instantly lost my desire to play there, but then he wrote in his thread that they reopened the account after an investigation. (I'll not write the 2+2 name here even though it's public information, it's probably still on the forum for the curious). I wrote to him and he gave me some details about the investigation, everything ended up in order a few weeks after the block. I had a little paranoia from the get-go since CoinPoker is part of a grey area, and I was wondering what would happen if they confiscated funds or banned a player just based on opaque internal decisions.

Today I set up Metamask, downloaded CoinPoker, transfered money to the account. I launched an MTT and tried different cash-game tables. I quickly made $500 and tried to use the cashout function to make sure it worked. I received the cash instantly on my wallet and I was getting excited to play there. However, 30 minutes later, the soft crashed (I thought) and when I tried to log in, it was written that my account was "restricted" and that I had to contact the support, which I did instantly. I wrote to them in a calm and positive tone because I knew it was just a mistake and I just patiently waited for my account to reopen. To my surprise, they answered that I violated the rules of the site. How could I possibly break the rules by just opening an account and playing a few hands? I was thinking. I read further and they accused me of multi-accounting, confiscated the funds and said that it was irreversible. As I stated in this text, I even hesitated to open an account there for security reasons, it's quite ironic to be accused of owning multiple accounts.

I'm writing here for three main raisons:
1) People should be aware that such practice/misunderstanding (call it as you like) can take place with such sites.

2) If you know about similar stories or if it happened to you, feel free to share here. Maybe acting collectively could help. I don't know much about law and legislation regarding gambling, but since CoinPoker is in a grey area I don't even know if they are part of a gaming commission or equivalent to which I could wrote.

3) I hope that their support will read my post attentively and fix the problem. We are humans with emotions, and money is money. It is already two good reasons to deal with "security" problems seriously, without people having to open threads to fix them.

Thank you for reading and always take good care of your money, never deposit unnecessary amounts on rooms that can lock you out with no justification. I will keep you updated in this thread and let you know once they (I hope) reopen my account!

I wrote about this previously but will post again here to raise awareness. I experienced a very similar issue where they restrict your account, seize your funds, and there’s absolutely no recourse for it.

As far as I can tell, there is no chance of having a reasonable interaction with their security team. They have no interest gathering the pertinent information or even having a fair and honest process with the players.

And once you have had your funds seized, there’s no gaming commission to hold them accountable because they are licensed in Curaçao. It seems the only option is to take them to court since the gaming commissions that provide their license have no interest in protecting the players from abuse. Just go look at the website for their gaming commission and note how they refuse any complaints from players in a number of the most populated countries in the world. The gaming commission itself says you play at your own risk since they will not protect you.

I highly recommend everyone avoid CoinPoker like the plague. You’re playing with fire by keeping any balance on the site and have absolutely no recourse if they decide they want to ban you and seize your money. There’s already countless identical stories on 2+2 of these interactions with their security team.

No way, for real? I am in contact with the VIP-Team, and never had a experience yet with CoinPoker or anyone related. Can't share this feedback, but im now more catious after im seeing this kind of information.

As I wrote, my primary advice is to remain careful with the money you keep on the site and it's valid for all sites, not specifically CoinPoker. I would lie if I said I don't feel down about this situation, but I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. As of now they have remained silent, but it's Saturday and I have no clue when they are working, so I quietly sit here and wait for them to take action. They did it to this other 2+2er and admitted their mistake, I have no reason to think that it will be any different for me.

You're in touch with the VIP for a promotion or maybe to be part of the team? Just curious.

I only have contact with them via telegram myself, to get here and there some extra $$$

Are you Italian perhaps?,if yes probably I know what happened ,in any case the coinpoker team are a bunch of inexperienced teenagers that they don’t even know what they are doing….

I'm not Italian. What is your guess though? I'm from Central Europe though.

As expected, the support team has not answered yet, as they previously failed to do with multiple users, including multiple occurrences where they admitted being wrong. I linked this thread to them on Friday, and it's now Monday. I would be surprised if the Security Team and the CoinPoker rep weren't working for three days straight. As you may know, similar "techniques" are commonly used by larger companies, not only in the poker industry; when they can earn money by exhausting a client, with little risk to themselves. I don't like to make assumptions, but it appears to be what is happening right now. Even though the money I have on the site is not worth the fight, I will soon post on Reddit and on the Russian forum. I do not like injustice in any form, and it is irritating when a company takes the liberty to enforce sanctions based on rules that have not been broken in the first place.

Well,my guess is that they thought that you was me,because I was banned for opening two accounts.
Then:you opened a new account right after my ban,and you used metamask (like me)

I saw “RoccoSiffredi” and thought you were Italian 😀 ,this would have been another clue for their “non-sense” way to identify a player who has been already banned .

They will not reply to you again, you can be sure:if they don’t reply in 1day then they will not reply anymore 😉

They are selfish and thieves, they don't care about anything or anyone, they know that they can do whatever they want, even steal money from players without any confirmed reason

Well, you know, it would be a better argument than no argument at all. I've posted this thread, I've sent another mail, and I've written in the CoinPoker thread. I know that the CoinPoker rep has been active since he has answered to someone in the meantime. It's just the story repeating itself; like with the high-stakes player who had to write on 2+2 multiple times before they admitted their mistake and reopened his account. I remain respectful and formal, but what they are doing is way out of line.

Edit: I got an answer to my mail, I'll keep you posted

Ok ,nice!,let us know about...i'm curious now :p

i am a victim as fell for this ponzi site, i will be making my own thread with details this weekend. Coinpoker is most likely a site that will dissapear with users funds, us that have been here for a very long time know how it all starts.

One week has passed since the answer I mentioned. The same day, I properly answered to their message, and then, I wrote again last Friday asking for an update. Silence. It is tiring. I will quote someone from another thread (who finally got his account unlocked): "I would hope someone with $50 in their account would be treated better than this". So, please treat us better than this. Because if the crypto-poker competition wakes up, there is a high chance no one will tolerate this nonsense anymore. Thank you.

They answered me and asked for critical documents such as: ID, a photo of me holding the ID, copy of a recent bank statement. For a site that calls itself anonymous, it is really strange. I'll think twice before sending the requested documents (and there is a chance I won't) based on the following logic: if I cannot trust a site and its security system, I also cannot risk sharing such documents for TRYING to get back the 4-figure sum locked on my account, especially after the repetitive testimonies against the site popping here and there on 2+2. I might change my mind and send them, just to figure out how the story would end, but it honestly does not feel responsible.

nb: I don't see the point for a crypto site to ask for a utility statement from someone who has never provided an address or a country in the first place. It is the key point that discouraged me from answering right away. In other words, they asked for a 'critical' document that is of no use to them. CoinPoker rep has answered most CoinPoker topics in this section, but never mine... go figure why.

In a sense, it's more than their reputation they are hurting; it's the poker economy. If I'm a complete beginner, I deposit money on CoinPoker, and a similar story happens, you can be sure I am not putting any more money on the tables online.
