In the current news climate we see that some figures and events tend to dominate the front-pages heavily. Still, there a
What a joke!
Per wikipedia, a 'food desert' (in an urban area) is a neighborhood more than one mile from a supermarket.
In an rural area, a 'food desert' is more than 10 miles from a supermarket.
'Food desert' sounds like a place in the middle of nowhere.
Certainly not a reason to make all liquor stores an "essential business".
Maybe on a case-by-case basis they could be classified as an "essential business"
I reject the notion of an "essential business."
The consumers should decide, not the government.
If it's safe for ANY business to be open, then it's safe for ALL businesses to be open.
As long as the state health regulations are being adhered to ofc.

Remember at some places just certain sections were open. I tried to buy fish at a PetSmart and they couldn't sell them to me because of COVID restrictions even though the store was open.
I learned something important today:
Some of the multimillionaires who live in Palos Verdes Estates live in a ''food desert."
Who knew?
I'm in a food desert. Everything is either crazy expensive or I have to drive about 30 miles to an Albertson's or Stater Bros.
1 mile though for urban areas doesn't seem very reasonable though if that's the official definition.

I'm sure it's gonna sound bad but I loved empty cities during covid and total silence.
I've read some people have some regret syndrome of that time (for different reasons).
nb: that obviously doesn't mean I was happy with people getting covid/hurt/dying.
Fwiw , following luciom trend , I understand he sees no problem italians immigrate elsewhere , helps clean his country of so many dangerous citizens in a lot of sphere of criminal activities.
Violent too ready to murder for not much .
Don luciom …..
I got more forgivness for someone doing illegal activities to feed his family (poor 3rd world worker) then an immigrants doing violent crimes (mob) just to get rich ….
Have u seen « les misérables » yet luciom ?

You don't need to go to a museum or a cinema. You do need to eat, so therefore need to go to a supermarket. It was a question of keeping covid numbers as low as possible and the closure of non essential businesses helped do that. Amazing you can't see this.

you don't NEED to go to the supermarket, people in hazmat suits can provide emergency rations to your building.
which is what they did in China.
amazing you can't see it's all about finding reasonable tradeoffs.
not that any of that helped in any way ofc, it was all for nothing

You really want to live like China? A global pandemic means precautions, not turning your country into some weird ass dystopian nightmare ffs.

Funny how Lucy is all against lockdowns but suddenly best response is ultimate lockdown.
Compromise was the point. (I shouldn't have to write that last part, but in this forum you have to preemptively explain/defend yourself).

I can imagine that. I used to be out late most nights in central London, after most people had gone home and when the traffic was minimal. It's such a beautiful city that most people don't get to fully appreciate because of the hustle and bustle.

Seemed to work fine in Florida (relatively speaking).
