2024 Fantasy Football Thread
Welcome to the 2024 fantasy season, where I'm officially addicted to best ball. I've been drafting since the end of Jan
DeVonta Smith is a player I never want unless I have Hurts. They simply don't throw the ball enough.
In a vacuum, I get it. And from a medium projection, DeVonta isn't a great pick. But I love him in best ball. He has great spike week upside plus contingent upside if AJB, Goedert or Saquon get injured.
The Eagles need a lot of things to go right again to throw as little as they did last season, including Saquon staying healthy.
Puppy 2....draft slot 9
I wanted one more WR but Justice Hill fell way past ADP and He stacked with Lamar. Also, it's a solid but fragile RB room so adding a 6th can't be bad. I need Olave to stay healthy.
I wanted Keenan Allen as my last pick but he went so I snagged Shough.
If I am picking in the later part of the draft I like to snag an elite QB. I figure the early drafters are getting the elite WR's and RB's so this is a way to gain an edge.
Looking back I could have taken Dyami Brown instead of Gesicki and then taken Juwan Johnson later. I wouldn't have been able to get Hill though.
QB) Lamar, Trevor, Shough
RB) Jeanty, A Jones, Charbonet, Javonte, Shipley, Hill
WR) Nabers, Maclaurin, Hunter, Olave, Golden, Bateman.
TE) Ferguson, Strange, Gesicki
Just 6 spots.
I'm confident Jeanty will pay off or at least be close. Kamara will be good at least early on. Everything is pointing up with Harvey from what I have seen in minicamp so far. I can't stop taking Tuten so who knows about that one. Ekeler is a solid vet on what should be an improved offense.
So the Najee rumors are true but he’s supposedly ok .
Sounds like it.
Botched this Puppy.
Obviously forgot I add Saquon since I rarely draft him. Then I missed out on Gesicki and every other TE left felt more like a TE3, so I just rode solo with Kincaid. At least I got Burrow at 69 (giggity).
Burrow, Herbert
Saquon, Warren, Tracy, Mondre, Wright, Shipley
Ladd, Tee, DeVonta, Jennings, Shakir, QJ, Wilson, Thornton, Burton
Kincaid
Not the sexiest QB room
Geno, Dimes, Shough
Jeanty, BRob, Warren, Skat, Ford, Keaton, Brooks
Terry, Evans, Deebo, Olave, Meyers, Shaheed, Doubs, Pierce
Bowers, Likely

I think you should have added a second TE instead of having 9 WR's. What's wrong with a TE3 being your TE 2?
Puppy 2...Draft slot 4.
QB) Kyler, Bo
RB) Bijan, Skattebo, Rhomondre, R White, Giddens, T Brooks.
WR) Rice, Worthy, Sutton, Jennings, Jeudy, K Williams, P Bryant, M Wilson
TE) Mcbride, Ertz
I took T Brooks over T Franklin with my last pick. Is it over kill to have 3 receivers stacked with a QB? Especially on a team that is gonna run the ball a good bit. Also, Franklin would have been WR 9. Taj is a week 17 bring back against the Cards and fortifies a RB room that is sketch after Bijan.
They can snipe our Mahomes, but we shall prevail.
Fields, Goff, Shough
Gibbs, Chase, Pacheco, Allgeier, Dowdle
Rice, Worthy, Jamo, Olave, Mims, McMillan, TeSlaa
Hock, Goedert, Mason
Some big ADP values here (cook 11 past, Goff 21 past)
Purdy, Herbert, Goff
Gibbs, Cook, Swift, Shipley, Chubb
Ladd, Wilson, Godwin, Pittman, Kirk, Pop, Thornton, TeSlaa
Kittle, J Ferguson
DK Milly
Hurts, Shough, AR
Walker, Pollard, Tracy, Javonte, Wright, James, Gordon
Nabers, AJB, JSN, Olave, Coleman, Tillman, Bryant, Pierce
Kelce, Goedert
Puppy 2...pick 7
I went heavy again at QB. I loved the Daniels/Herbert combo but they both have the same bye week so I added Lawrence.
In round two I had the choice of AJ Brown or Ladd. I chose Ladd because I had Barkley. I don't know if AJ and Barkley is a good pairing.
I have 4 WR's on by week 12 so I went with 8 total. I was gonna add another RB but I figure Barkley will hold down one spot and I just need something from one of the four others.
If this team gets another RB to step up it will be real good.
QB) Daniels, Herbert, Lawrence
RB) Barkley, Skattebo, Ekeler, Allgeire, B Allen
WR) Ladd, Maclaurin, Hunter, Samuel, Reed, T Harris, Hopkins, Coker
TE) Hock, Ertz
This might fill over the weekend.
Ugh I'm going low volume this week. Just like 4 or 5 on Drafters and 2 Puppies.
You think it's better to do the 2 Puppies or just take 10 shots at the Little Dalmation?
I’d rather do Puppies. I’m not playing the little Dalmatian. The payouts aren’t big enough for the time requirement for me. But it’s a nice contest for volume with a small bankroll or to bring in new players.
Puppy
Kyler, Love
Cook, Judkins, ETN, Guerendo, Wright, Lloyd, James
Chase, MHJ, DeVonta, Pearsall, Burden, Doubs, Dyami
McBride, Sanders
Puppy
Lamar, Stroud
Jeanty, Pacheco, Skat, Blue, Bigsby, Hill, Vidal
Nico, Odunze, Deebo, Higgins, Bateman, Dyami, Wicks
Kittle, Likely
I think both teams are solid. But Hayden's analysis has had me rethink 7 RB teams, at least on UD. I still think averaging the field results in a relatively small sample needs to be taken with caution, but I also respect the trend.
His data shows that you should almost always stop at 6, even on a zero RB team, due to positional capital allocation and diminishing returns. In theory, you'd be better off allocating your 7th RB to either QB or TE on both builds. Or to WR, if you go heavy QB/TE.
Interesting, but makes sense.
Something I've been thinking about on the more QB hungry sites like DK and Drafters. My most used start is the standard 1-3-5-1, but I'm feeling like it should be 2-3-5-0 or sometimes 2-3-4-1.
Then occasionally adding a 3rd if it's past ADP, a luxury pick, and stacked.
