Mohegan Sun (Uncasville, CT)
Would like to hear from Mohegan Sun players and employees.
I have been a regular in the $20-40 O.E. game since it's inception 5 or 6 weeks ago. We usually start around 9:30 so if you arrive a few minutes before 9 when the room opens you should get in the game. Game consists of players of various skill levels and has been gaining momentum in the last few weeks, usually lasting well into the evening often with a backup list as well. Hope to see you there in a few weeks!

Fishfry - I was there on June 25, so two weeks ago and the game was going. It seemed to have started around 10, and it had about 6-7 players.
I had asked the forum recently about what an average BI would be and when a rack or two were advised, I thought a little steep for me but I could handle it. That was until I saw that each player had a rack of 25s and not 5s 😂

Guess 20-40 games are no longer played with just red chips!

What you probably saw was the $75-150 game. The $20-40 mixed is played with mostly red chips.
Concerning 5-10 NLHE, how often does this game run? Does it go daily or just during the weekends/busy times? Also, what are the min and max starting stack sizes?
5/10 runs Thursday (11 am-??), Friday and Saturday (afternoon-close). Buy-in range is 500-2500. $10/half time.
Pretty unfortunate that they raised the rake again. It is now 10% up to $7 at $1/$2 and $2/$5. Still a $1 promo drop but they are dropping an additional dollar on days where the high hand promo runs.

Seems to becoming the standard range $8-$12 range including promo drop.
Long are the days of the $4+ $1

I wonder for how much longer 1/2 will continue to exist in major casinos? Eventually the fish are going to have to figure out that a rake of 5 BB per hand is unsustainable long term?
1/3 isn't much better. 2/3 would be much more interesting game.

Not much longer, another decade maybe.
I was recently in San Juan, Puerto Rico watching a friend play baccarat next to their little 4 poker tables. As I was watching I realized the rake was as high as $20 per hand on a 1/2 game. Mind boggling

Most of the chronic 1/2 players are not playing to make money. They are playing for fun or just to pass the time.

But (assuming you mean are talking about Casino Metro) that games were so incredibly soft it was still profitable for me (albeit precovid).
Does anyone know anything about the two rewards levels above "Soar"? Supposedly it is "Soar Hawk" directly above Soar and "Triumph" as the highest. It comes up when you book on their golf course as a Soar member.
I've only seen a Soar Hawk card once in the pits, and the dude had two $750 free bet slips LOL. It's the same as the Soar card but it has a large red hawk in the center. Never seen a Triumph card.
I'm just curious what it takes to even get those cards and what they offer. I've scrounged the internet and can't find a thing about it. I asked my host and she didn't really reply.

I've seen them, the triumph card is white and blue
They're just invite only cards for the highest gamblers
First post in a long long time. Only go to MS now when I'm passing through CT from Long Island which isn't much these days, once a year if I'm lucky. The fact there is no actual place to go play live poker without driving up to turning stone etc is wild but that's a convo for another day.
Weird, confrontational and downright headshaking vibes at the non main 2/5 table on Sunday when I was staying close by and wanted to splash around a rack of nickels for old times sakes. Everyone is obviously a reg besides me, and considering I barely play anymore I'm also the mark which should be obvious.
I get into a hand with Reg #2 lets call him who I haven't seen play a single hand or really do much besides fold since I sat down, I have mid or maybe even 3rd pair, bet flop etc, he bets turn or river and I jokingly say oh man I haven't seen you play a hand since I got here - def folding. As strictly a light hearted joking commentary on the situation.
He then seriously starts going off on a ****ing tangent about how I don't know him or anyone at the table, and I should keep it to myself and not talk or say anything. Stone face serious to the point where I thought he was messing with me and would eventually crack a smile, but never did. We go back and forth for a minute and eventually he moves to the main game, I leave with $800ish after buying in for 7 including a top off mid way through the session, as the vibes were just really off putting and honestly not friendly or cool from most of the regs besides like, 3 people who were chill and cordial.
People, this aint the ****in WSOP Final Table, we're playing 2/5 for no more than a couple G's at most. Let's ease up and keep the people who can barely spell GTO in the games for as long as possible, myself included.
OMC is going to OMC. The poker world has changed since 2013 in NE. With Encore opening and poker rooms in virtually every city in NH, there are far few casual players visiting CT for a weekend looking to play.
Never understood people that are rude in a poker room.
The social aspect of the game is a key reason I play live .
If you don’t lie people or yourself for that matter stay home and don’t soil the game
The miserable vibe at 2/5 NL has been persistent for years. PLO is where you want to be for a more fun and social atmosphere. Hell even a 1/2 NL game is more fun on a Friday or Saturday night than playing with those 2/5 NL dolts who take themselves way too seriously.
MS has recently been offering me free rooms for a few dates in September and October. Unfortunately due to work I may not be able to take advantage of them.
Does anyone know if MS will offer free rooms into Nov or Dec (obviously holiday and vacation week may not be offered)?
Check online, I get free rooms every Sunday-Thursday those months except the big holidays like Thanksgiving, etc. or big concert dates. I've recently gotten a few free rooms on Friday nights as well. Saturday nights, forget about it unless you're a mega high roller. I have a black card and not once have I been offered a free room on a Saturday night, but IDK if I've even asked either.
If you have a host, contacting them is your best bet. I've gotten several rooms I would've paid for, comped through my host. During the week they should comp you assuming you have a decent amount of gambol in your history.
Kind of a long shot here but does anyone here know how much play it takes to accumulate status points playing on Mohegan Sun’s online casino? I’m 11 status points away from the next level and not sure I’m gonna be able to make it back to the casino before September is over.

Yes in my experience as Nov/Dec get closer you will start seeing free rooms show up on the calendar in those months. I’m in the same spot as you where I only have a few weeknight rooms available through October right now.
The 7+2 rake is pretty brutal. I know it's common in many markets but I remember MS+FW being on the lower side nationally.
One of the more entertaining aspects is that any pot seeing the flop is raked for $2 right away. So you have many pots with open limping, including on the button, where 2 or 3 players fight for $3 or $4. I think California players are wise to this but the pool at MS seems not to care.
The hunt for high hands has become a main attraction, with the annoying game of raising and betting (aka "poker") serving as a nuisance to those just trying to bag their $500 hit
I believe the increase in rake/promo drop is a big reason many players are migrating back to Foxwoods. On quite a few mornings in the past weeks the $2-5 NL game isn't starting until 11 or 12 whereas before the increase there was always at least one game right at 9 a.m.
How does the thursday night $180 bounty usually do here? I play at foxwoods mainly but the thursday night tourney only gets like 35 players and I think it might be time to move over to Mohegan.
