Thoughts

  • I struggle in this spot (SB vs BB as preflop raiser)
  • Villain's stats (small ss) makes me feel like he's underbluffed here. Bluffs I still have in villain's range are Ax, Tx suited
  • I'm blocking a lot of the draws, which made me very scared to xr on the turn

I think flop bet would be better against someone with more normal stats, but probably not great against someone with 60% vpip. He will have too many random Kx and Qx, and might call you with Ax, underpairs, Tx and then bet the turn like this, making our life horrible. I would give him the opportunity to check it down. But still probably ok.

Turn, I don't think we ever want to raise this type of fish, so it's between call or fold. I think both are probably similar ev. If he is bluffing, he might continue on a card that gets you there but give up on a card that doesnt expecting AK.

Pre is far too small OOP. You don’t have to range bet post contrary to popular trends I’d just x decide flop given them cold calling. It’s a loose rec so probably just heroing down here unless you hit a J as they can be barrelling their random A8o 54s 22 type hands that people this wide cold call.

Thanks!

Can you explain the 3bet pre sizing? When OOP, I'm scared to bloat the pot given population at micros tend to cold call wider. Should I be using a size so big that it's polarising for them to call and forget post flop altogether?

If you 3bet too small OOP, you'll get more calls and therefore have to play post flop OOP more often against wider ranges. No need to go super large, standard 10-12 bb OOP should be OK unless there's a specific reason to go bigger, like against a massive preflop calling station. You should absolutely learn to get comfortable playing standard 3b pots postflop against any players OOP and IP.

No, don't bluff. You're against a fish, just 3-bet slightly larger pre, and I'd bet a little bit larger vs these kinds of players on the flop, as they try and find reasons to stick around w/ small bets. You're not looking to build a big pot, and you have limited bluffing opportunities vs this kind of player, so you want to just take it down early OOP on this board.
