His non stop banter is one thing, it can be both annoying and entertaining, but the slow play is absolutely unacceptable.

serious question- does he actually have a mental illness?

He said he was sleeping 2 hours a day or less and was probably cracked out on Adderall and who knows what else.

by TiltPocketAces

can you imagine if he got invited to the tv show games w hellmuth, d-negs etc..?? lol

Can you imagine if we used Kassouf, Kahbrel and Khan (the three K's, or KKK) to torture prisoners at Guantanamo?

The defining characteristics of mania are increased talkativeness, rapid speech, decreased need for sleep, racing thoughts, distractibility, increase in goal-directed activity, and psychomotor agitation. Some other hallmarks of mania are an elevated or expansive mood, mood lability, impulsivity, irritability, and grandiosity.

It could be due to drugs or him having a manic episode.

Obviously no one knows if he has actually been diagnosed with a mental illness. But it seems like he is mentally not in a healthy place.

Live stream viewers went from under 4k without Will to over 26k with him

...I wonder why Cary Katz wanted him featured.... It's a mystery! 😂 😂

Viewership always goes up when there's a live disaster happening.

The thing that some people (including WK) seem to be missing is that the WSOP's rules are written in such a way that they (unsurprisingly) have all of the power. WK's opinion does not matter at all and the particulars of his behavior do not matter at all.

If the WSOP decides that his behavior is a problem, they can basically do whatever they want. There's basically only one limit on the consequences they might enact: what the market will tolerate from them. If they seem like an organization that will disqualify you for no good reason, they'll lose business. (Yes, I'm sure at some point the Nevada gaming powers that be would have a say, but AFAIK that's the long and short of it.)

By that or other standards, they were way more patient with him than they had to be.

all true much like any other business. If you act like a jackass and piss off tons of customers you're getting kicked out of anywhere unless you're some hugely profitable customer. And even then who knows.

Lol I’m sure his doctor will post later and give us all the details

A smart businessman told me that he not only cultivates his business, he also cultivates his customers at the same time. If they become an abusive pain in the neck, they aren't his customers anymore.

Calling people 'pathetic' repeatedly at an event like the WSOP is unacceptable to most people, but some people love drama.

A family member that uses public transportation has the philosophy of '...don't engage with the mentally ill, you can't win...'

#1) Every single person who has spent 2 minutes in any poker room in America has been around mental illness#2) Fwiw, it can be damn near impossible to take psych meds during this tournament when you're playing every day. Especially if it is something like a mood stabilizer. There's typically not enough time between days of play to take them and sleep while also being able to wa

#2 really checks out with Kassouf 's comments about not being able to sleep. Last day, looked like he was on fumes with barely any sleep.

Kassouf is pretty calculated and aware of what heÂ’s doing, able to articulate why heÂ’s doing it, and doesnÂ’t really seem like someone going through bipolar mania. It feels like these comments are coming from people who donÂ’t really have a lot of experience with genuinely bipolar people.

He’s won over >$600k in the main in the past ten years plus first in an EPT event so he’s obviously a pretty good tournament player, he’s clearly +EV in the main by a very healthy amount. So I’d weigh all his bad behavior with a huge rock of salt of “he makes money with it.”

Genuinely bipolar people their mania takes on a way different form, they have notably deluded beliefs, sometimes even hallucinations. Delusions that go beyond being a jerk off that thinks highly of themselves and wants special attention.

Was he abusing stimulants/adderall? Possibly, a lot of poker players do, and IÂ’ve frequently seen people I knew were on stims crash out at the poker table, itÂ’s probably the most predictable outcome of mixing adderall and poker. Poker causes tilt as a standard, adderall greatly amplifies tilt, play poker on adderall long enough (and people take it so they can play longer) and youÂ’re almost guaranteed to crash out at some point. ThatÂ’s quite different from being mentally ill though.

Also heÂ’s a lawyer, pretty studied on the game when itÂ’s seemingly a part-time thing for him, so heÂ’s definitely not stupid or uneducated. I think he just chooses to be a jackass, it ends up being profitable, which reinforces the behavior.

Nine Red Bulls like a boss.

I know watching him is painful. It's not that he's some kind of awful person, it's the waiting. What changes with how people act to his betting/checking, by waiting 3.5 hours a decision? I know 33rd in the mainevent is a kick in the nuts. He'll never do that again, possibly.

Old Vegas would have set up residency for him near Parumph by now.

Too many players need attitude adjustment, but I guess that's what makes entertainment nowadays.

interesting he's gone quiet on social media

anyone liking kassoufs antics watch 5 min clips and laugh, everyone that has to sit at his table for hours listening to that tiring schtick does not and guess which one of these two opinions that actually matter?

The guy that flew out to vegas for his vacation, gets a hotelroom, pays for overpriced food, maybe plays some slots and buys in to the tournament paying rake trying to have a great experience only to have it ruined by this ****ing idiot to never go back. Happy about the ruling and I hope I never have to endure him on the table for 12 hours ever under any other tournament series.

Wow if this is true.

He speaks with a cockney accent, which is typically associated with less educated/lower class. He tries really hard to make himself look smart despite his lack of education and class.

Nice stereotype.

Despite what is thought from most Americans very very few people in England actually talk like Hugh f'n Grant.

Thanks, dude! I was thinking of Harrow rather than Hugh. Cheers.

In the US there are also subtle indications of education, and it's likely that most people around the world (or the US for that matter), are totally unaware of subtleties.

For example, if you're at a cocktail party at the Upper West Side, pynchonesque would be a good word to have a handle on. It would indicate that you might be a Columbia vs. a Rutgers grad.

I liked watching just to see what he would do next. Seems like a lot of people had the same sentiment based on the viewer count while he was on stream. Would absolutely hate being at the same table as him

As PugDolk said, likely not bipolar. But he absolutely suffers from a personality disorder, almost certainly Narcissistic Personality Disorder. And being on television, getting all the media attention, recognizing his growing power and leverage in being able to challenge and even upend social norms and ultimate authority (in this instance the floor/WSOP governing executives)…well, all of that to a narcissist like him was like doing lines of coke off the felt.

It wasn’t just his own personal out-loud obsession with the circumstances of his tournament situation—what he had, what he was thinking, why he made the decisions that he did—it was his absolute certainty that the other players at the table and everyone watching at home were equally obsessed with him. It was a disorder that became a delusion that became a mania. It probably did start out somewhere as a strategy to gain an edge at the poker table. But that is no longer what it’s about. And he has lost whatever control of it he ever had. Nick and Ali were absolutely correct. He melted down.

Hey, this is poker. It's gambling and gamblers have a pretty high percentage of mental illness. That is if you play the odds.

This. It was startling to see him abuse the table, get punished by the floor, then poll players he just abused about how upset they must be about the unfair treatment he was receiving. Absolutely delusional. Even as he left and the players applauded and taunted him he seemed unable to register they were against him.

Excellent post, NPD is almost certainly what the issue is here.

Used to play with him a lot and his whole behaviour is like he sees his life as a movie where he plays the main character

it's called "main character syndrome".
