One article I read specifically mentioned empire city being ready to go 6 months after approval, but didn’t attribute that fact to anyone at all, so it’s probably meaningless lol

It’s believable. They have had the entire upper floors closed off for a couple years now at least. I guess thats where they want to put the live casino games.

Isn’t there a required min incremental investment?

The application has to detail minimum $500m that they plan to spend.

Easy for the developments that don't exist, maybe a stretch for the two that do.

I could see even the existing spots spending that amount of money. Expanding their casino size, adding hotel rooms more employees etc

I just see conflict with “ready to go” and “must invest $500mil”.

It’s not clear though whether RW and EC would have to complete the infrastructure investment before opening. Obviously the other proposals would because they don’t exist yet. But given the stress on time to market, I wouldn’t be surprised if RW and EC are able to open as soon as possible, including before the $500MM is spent

Ready to go as in they initially open and expand the live gambling and other stuff with time

Look, I know a guy who'll change outlet covers to a different shade of white for one milly a pop.

Maybe they got some light bulbs. Are they burnt out? Who can really say? They gotta be changed too sometimes. Upgrade the dryers in the men's rooms, and yadda yadda he'll have that half billion spent in no time.

Of course, I'll have to charge a small finder's fee to make the introduction. But if they want the best, what's a few extra bucks?

Only Bally's (Bronx), Caesars Palace (Times Square) and Hard Rock (Citi Field) specifically mention poker (which at this point probably doesn't mean anything, but there it is).

RW estimates initial expanded gaming opening July 2026. MGM (Yonkers) estimates same for June 2027. Caesars Palace says it would "begin welcoming guests in 4 years" (while emphasizing all the benefits of using an existing building).

NYC Casinos: Poker Room Plans

I’m trying to avoid the very real possibility of no poker room, by stressing over the fact that Hard Rocks proposal says a room with 30 tables 🥴🥴🥴

Im almost positive at least 1 of the rooms will have poker. As for when theyll open and other details i have no clue. Also i expect rake to be the moon.

FWIW, the Resorts World exec summary boasts plans for a 500,000 sqft gaming floor, 6,000 slot machines, 800 tables. If they get a license, and the gaming floor is that big, and they don't have a poker room, that's just ridiculous lol. It's going to be the 2nd biggest casino in the country by square footage, biggest by table count with more than twice as many as the second biggest.

Yeah, and I also think past results are indicative of future ones. Resorts World Catskills and LV both have poker rooms, and nice ones.

And even MGM who ruined the Borgata Poker Room also has poker at pretty much all of it's properties

I was worried that Hard Rock might not since they opted to not have on in AC, but to see they plan on a 30 table room is an encouraging sign

My guess is all 3 will have poker rooms, if we do end up with RW, EC and HR as the choices as I suspect we will

What worries me is that NYS will be lazy and just give the Queens license to Resorts World and there won’t be any poker in Queens.

I’m also hoping that poker is just missing from their executive plan that I can read on the website. Hoping that this is the case considering they have it at their other properties.

I think the citi field one gets the third license. The amount of money the mets owner willing to dump for that will sway the committee

I agree, and more importantly, there seems to be (by far) the least amount of opposition and roadblocks in the way.

I kind of wonder about the Avenir site, as a dark horse, though.

Would seem to be a nice compromise of being close to Times Square, there hasn't been much opposition (or frankly, news about it at all), they just promised to build a bunch of affordable housing, and the developer (Larry Silverstein) has done a lot of business with the city over the years (he redeveloped the world trade center buildings after 9/11, and developed a lot of residential buildings throughout the city).

Could see all the attention being on other sites distracting opposition to his plans and helping him slip in there. I don't think it will happen but it wouldn't shock me, either

I dont even know which one is avenir. And most people are focused on new money not old money, what someone did wont help much now. We will hopefully find out by the end of the year
