2024 Fantasy Football Thread
Welcome to the 2024 fantasy season, where I'm officially addicted to best ball. I've been drafting since the end of Jan
Got ya. I briefly saw something about that, but I didn't look any further since maybe 5% of my volume is on DK. But I am firing some Millys, so I'll take advantage of that one. More slow drafts for me.
Here's one more. Both teams were The Little Schnauzer. Heavy Houston.
Kyler (11 picks), Stroud, Darnold
Kamara, Harvey, BRob, Etienne, Benson
Nico, Ladd, JSN, Terry, Higgins, Noel, MVS
Jonnu, Gesicki, Chig
That one’s pretty close in the last rd. I normally go wr when it’s close like that, but I think this team needs a 6th rb over MVS. I think the tie breaker here is wr x4 start has to be strong enough to stop at 6
That's a reasonable take.
I think when I'm trying to determine where to stop for WR, I evaluate the last one drafted.
I had 4 WRs through 5, 5 through 8, but my 6th wasn't drafted until round 15. Usually if I'm sticking with 6, I like to have all 6 by round 10 or so. Noel could also be a zero for a lot of the season, which is one reason I went with dusty MVS stacked with Darnold for, in theory, some early season routes.
For the RBs, while I didn't take my first one until round 5, I still had 4 through 10 and all 5 through 12.
But I could see 6 and 6 working too.
Another use of the Picker Wheel to diversify my teams.
Spin the wheel before each pick.
If it lands on 0-2, then I can take players at or before ADP, or at most 2 picks past ADP.
If it lands on a 3, 4, or 5, then I have to pick a player at least (but can be more) that many spots past ADP.
The only exception is for QBs.
Ended up drafting both the players in the news this week haha
JJM, Stroud, Tua
Jacobs, Hampton, Kaleb, Judkins, B Smith
JJ, Reek, DJM, Jennings, J Higgins, Pop, Keenan
Goedert, Waller, Chig
Looks good. Rookie RB szn. That’s a nice price on Judkins.
Baker, TLaw, Dart
Achane, Conner, Harvey, Charb, Javonte
BTJ, Evans, Tet, Egbuka, Bryant, Dyami, Slayton, ADM
Engram, Strange
I think Javonte or Charbs (maybe both) needed to be wr as wr is a little light
Yeah makes sense, think I’d grab like Kirk/Hollywood in that spot too potentially but it does seem like there were less options than normal
Got the elusive JJ/Bowers start
Hill vs Keenan for the last pick, thought it could go either way
Purdy, Stroud, Rodgers
Jacobs, Monty, Judkins, Tuten, Chubb
JJ, Jamo, Worthy, Pearsall, Kirk, Tillman, Austin, Keenan
Bowers, Jonnu
Justice Hill? In the last round?
Yeah he was there, strongly considered it
I'm 100% taking Justice Hill in the final round.
Granted I'd take Tank Dell over Keenan Allen so I'm probably a little biased lol.
Overspending at QB and TE?
Well, at the very least, it's cohesive.
Allen, Kyler
Gibbs, Najee, Guerendo, Blue, Shipley, Dowdle, Ford
DK, Jameson, Olave, Shakir, Coleman, Dyami, Burton
McBride, Warren
A slightly more conventional build
Maye, Penix, Dimes
Kyren, Breece, Kamara, Wright, Ford, James
ARSB, London, Addison, Diggs, Tre, K. Williams, Pierce
Hock, Pitts
What if Evans and Godwin both fall off a cliff....
Baker, Bryce, Shough
Bijan, Najee, Mondre, White, Sampson, Brooks
Tee, Tet, Waddle, Olave, Deebo, Egbuka, McMillan
McBride, Sanders
Got sniped on a bunch of stacks, kept stacking them w/o the qb anyway
Caleb, Tua, AR
Brown, Pacheco, Brob, Sampson, Roschon, Sanders
CD, Ladd, DJM, Waddle, Deebo, Kirk
Loveland, J Ferguson, Schultz
Kinda like this wr corp even though I went rb 2-4
Stroud, Stafford, Shough
Henry, Breece, Hampton, Chubb, Corum
Puka, Ridley, Olave, Reed, Egbuka, Shaheed, Kirk
Warren, Pitts, Gesicki
Where'd you guys take Sampson on those teams?
Training camp begins today for some rookies. I think I'm going to adjust some of the way I react to beat reporting, as I think most of the information from the reporters is pretty irrelevant, especially when it comes to fantasy. Yet, some reports have wide reaction ranges from the community. After following a lot of beat reporters the last few seasons, I don't think many of them are very sharp and they mainly regurgitate observations rather than analyze and project.
I think my approach is going to be positive is expected, with no action required. I.e., Kaleb Johnson is running with the 1s, which should be expected. But if we get a bad report, I think that's more worth a reaction, especially if it's not expected. I.e., Kaleb Johnson is running with the 3s and is constantly being yelled at by coaches. In this instance, if a positive Kaleb Johnson report caused him to steam a round or 2, I'll definitely lessen my exposure as that steam occurs.
Last year I chased a lot of the beat steam and constantly moving ADPs. I'm going to try do that less, unless I think the reason for the movement is warranted. I'm also going to be more cautious with the guys who have new injury situations from henceforth, especially from certain orgs like the 49ers. We simply can't trust injury reporting from certain teams.
Another thing that's a little concerning right now is the 2nd round rookies. Of the fantasy relevant rookies, only Higgins is currently signed. If these guys start missing a bunch of camp time, it's going to have a significant impact.
I took him at 169. I've been seeing him go in the 170-175 range. I actually prefer Ford, but wanted to get some more Sampson shares.
164 and 178
I’m still not really drafting ford
3 QBs with rushing upside? Yes, please.
Kyler, Fields, Dimes
Jeanty, Achane, Blue, Benson, Braelon, Lloyd
DJM, Ridley, Odunze, Downs, Shaheed, Kirk, M Wilson
McBride, Taylor
