Cooler , or can be avoided ?
Villian is a hyper agressive reg , doesnt like to fold , specially preflop .
On the flop , I put hem on a strong draw when he raises , looking for clean turn to get the money in , and this is what we get .

I donβt know as much 5 card theory but this is just a punt on all streets.
Preflop is a fold not a raise and especially not over a limp.
Your hand isnβt strong enough to bet on the flop multi-way. In normal 4 card we check a ton of middle and bottom set multiway I imagine we do in 5 card as well. We only bet them when we have excellent support and you have nothing with yours. Middle set no draw.
Turn is even worse. At least you had some BDs on the flop. Turn you are dead.
Seeing opponents hand at the end shows why playing these hands is a punt as well. To deviate from GTO to open hands like this is to force folds from hands like his, not calls. If they arenβt folding, you actually need to tighten your range in theory, not loosen, and then recalibrate to a more merged value open range instead of a polar best/board coverage range.
So eliminate the mid rundowns and lower pairs but add the broadway heavies.

Exactly, you would be better off with QQJ87 in this kind of game if your strategy is to just open pairs that have pretty much nothing else going for them. 88 is just complete garbage in this spot
Real shitty hand - would def fold pre. I think the flop bet is fine but might consider folding to the raise depending on what you think about his raising range. The problem is if his raising range is JJ,NFD with T9,FD with wrap, and other nutty draws we're already behind and have to fold to half the deck OTT. Even a blank turn doesn't improve our equity that much but yeh at that point we'd get it in. This is a great example of why not to play this shitty hand - rarely flop top set and have nothing to go with it.
Look at those Hero preflop stats.
Well obv just a cooler then....splish splash!!
