Restructuring large field, online mtt's to bring MAD VALUE to players?

Instead of one tournament with 10,000 players, could we restructure in a shootout style?
100 tournaments, running simultaneously, each with 100 players, winner goes through to a final 100.
Most amateur or aspiring players at the micro levels are currently facing huge fields of opponents, making a final hundred or final table is likely quite rare.
Please let me know if there's something I'm missing with this, it seems like an easy set up for mad value tournaments.
