Moderation Questions
The last iteration of the moderation discussion thread was a complete disaster. Numerous attempts to keep it on topic fa
I honestly have no idea why she agreed to moderate this subforum, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't because she wanted to (i) post in the forum (which she was free to do whether she was a mod or not); or (ii) ban people (which basically never happens).
The banning of people basically never happens now that things have changed. There was a time when the threat of bans was very real and excessive.
I was just trying to point out your routine of having a blind spot that stevie wonder could relate to. Like all of the sudden you're concerned about the tone, rudeness, etcCan you point to where you've ever pulled this little routine of yours on crossnerd? And I think your analysis of "he/she started it" says more about you than anyone else. I didn't complain about either of yo
LOL. I haven't taken any "actions," and I was one of the people disagreeing with CN about her Marilyn Frye quote. And I've disagreed with her in the past. For example, I thought her posts about the killing of the healthcare CEO were out of line, and I told her so explicitly.
If I am being honest, CN is not one of the posters with whom I agree the most. And I said explicitly that her style of being deliberately provocative, including when it comes to generalizations about men as a group, isn't really my cup of tea either.
But there is no denying that a lot of the posters here are super weird about women. She isn't wrong about that.

Not for a very long time.
In any case, as I've said before, avoiding bans is trivially easy. It requires less self-control than I would expect from an angry tween. I've been here more than 20 years. I've argued with people. I've never refrained from saying exactly what I thought. And I've never come close to getting banned. I've never even been warned by a mod, except for one time when wookie told me not to evade the profanity filter.
I've been mostly lurking for the last week or so, but I must say, this is all very entertaining.
Hole in wan, you appear whenever (and only whenever) anything to do with men or masculinity is being discussed. My dude, you are obsessed. A more cynical man than I might suggest that you are so far in the closet that you've found ****ing Narnia.
Welcome back!
It's just not the same when you're not here to insult me.
I agree with this as well. And I would add that she is quite funny.
And to state the obvious, if I were to rate posters based on how much I like having them around, it wouldn't align with how often I agree with them. For example, I've repeatedly encouraged microbet to post more frequently here. I disagree with him plenty, but I think he is a smart guy who makes interesting posts.
Good post!
I dare anybody to find a happy man hater. These are the most miserable people alive.
Not all feminists are man haters. Unfortunately what remains of the rad fem end of the spectrum that mostly died off after the 80s does tend towards that.
As my feminist ex-boss once said to me, "I'm a human being first and a feminist next".

I've discovered both here and on Unstuck that it is likewise trivially easy to get banned!! And I should know!
😀

Well said.
I also enjoy Microbet, even though he and I almost always disagree. But our exchanges both here and on Unstuck were always cordial.
I disagree.
A person who hates men clearly was done dirty by a man. Probably more than once. Their inability to get over it must makes for a miserable experience. A racist isn't necessarily wallowing in their hatred. Antisemites and misogynists are who they are.
Blitz is ******* miserable. I've always hated the concept of losing on time in chess. I understand the need to have a clock so someone doesn't sit there until Yellowstone explodes, but the very idea of losing a game of chess because of a clock even though you've played better strategically/tactically is an absolute abomination to me. Completely undermines the game.
3+2 is great.
