Actually, the answer is yes, or close to it.

First inspector (building) came. He asked some questions and hinted on my answers so I answered based on a little coaching. It was pretty obvious he didn't want to cause me any grief. Inspection passed.

LOL. Plumbing inspector stopped by. I told him that they required me to get one because we disconnected and reconnected the sinks. He asked "everything working ok?" After I told him yes he said, "OK, you passed," and went on his merry way.

Sooooo, I think we are off the city's naughty list.

Nice, congratulations. I bet the inspectors are running like mad trying to see all the post-damage fixing, and just want it to be not an obvious failure.

I think the inspectors are sympathetic to the fact that the city (really fema) is being overly burdensome just to repair one's home. I got the feeling they really didn't want to do this at all and would rather be inspecting things that really need to be inspected.

The seawall situation is bugging me.

I figure there are three options.

1) Pull money out of retirement to pay for it. It's probably not going to affect my retirement at all, but just the thought of pulling some out this early bothers me. Not to mention I'll be paying taxes on it.

2) Get a loan. This is doable I think. Most places require we have insurance but there are a couple of credit unions that don't. The interest rate I saw was less than 6%. We already have two car loans though, going from debt-free to not after the storm. Piling on more debt doesn't seem optimal but my wife has a new job that pays enough more to over the loan.

3) Do nothing. The wall may last 10 years. May last a year. No idea although everyone that looked at it suggested that it has a good amount of life left in it. Maybe we wait until we get one or both cars paid off? The downside to waiting is, if the wall collapses it pretty much doubles the cost to fix it.

Decided to bite the bullet and get a new seawall. It actually isn't completely new. They shove some corrugated panels down along the existing seawall. Then they put some sort of stabilizing spikes into the ground to hold the top. Then they fill in the gap with concrete and make the top (cap) wider.

I'll chronicle the progress. Might not happen for a few months.

also suggest asking if sticks chopped from some collory to corroded corrugated panel are intended as removable utilitarian formwork or structure to ramen in place

what might be appropriate material and finish for walls of the bowl to be able to support and persist long term withstanding surging hurricane mud and thundering winds compared with some other unsure dim receipt-less waterproof guarantee credit card charges

I've been fighting a bit of depression lately. Not sure why it has popped up. But, it's a bit of a bad cycle. I don't feel like doing much, which exacerbates it because I'm just thinking about stuff instead of doing stuff. It's affected my writing more than anything. I just don't feel motivated. I really need to finish up my book but I just can't get myself to do it.

I've tried to pick up golf, of all things. I'm not completely sure I enjoy it all that much but I'm hoping if I get a little better and not feel so embarrassed when I play with others that I might start liking it more. The course is right around the corner from me and not too expensive. They have a regular course and a par 3 nine hole which I've been playing more often. I like it because I can quite often play by myself. Plus, it's a lot more important to work on my short game.

I took one lesson and he only gave me one thing to work on. I was a little disappointed. But then I ran into a friend on the driving range who is really good. He watched and gave me a handful of stuff to change. It was a little overwhelming but it definitely helped.

Anyways, I'm trying to make myself do SOMETHING.

The hardest part is not understanding what I did wrong when I do something wrong. I need a full time coach to follow me around and analyze every swing.

Yeah, I get that. But I think there is something to a proper swing. I played softball much of my younger adult life and was almost always the best hitter on my team. But that softball swing just doesn't work well in golf i don't think.

I will say my friend gave me two tips that most definitely increased my distance. By a lot. I can hit the ball quite well but it just isn't consistent. And as soon as I think I have it, it's gone the next day.

But, back to your point. I think that some combination of what your body does naturally AND some tweaking of mechanics is the key.

Probably. I would say that I'm probably worse than most that play on the course i play. Like bottom 10%.

Strangely enough that's my best club. I'm actually better than most I've played with.
