I think containment will be more like putting him in a zoo where people can interact with him if they want but the rest of us don’t have to interact with him in every other thread.

Some reddit threads are controlled by rather obviously strange people. Indeed this is what reddit is best known for.
Subreddits are controlled , not the threads on reddit. Like the "forum sections" are individually "owned" to a large extent (they still have to respect forum-wide rules).
But in a "fat is beautiful" subreddit they can ban you (from the subreddit) if you try to talk about eating better.
Reddit goes even further than that.
You might get auto-banned from a "fat is beautiful" subreddit for simply making a post on another subreddit about weight loss. Certain echo chambers are very, very protective of their messaging. I was banned from r/latestagecapitalism for asking how much free rent landlords should be required to provide before eviction is justified. Not as an antagonistic main thread, but just as a reply to some post about a woman who was evicted not paying rent for however many months.

I've been the recipient of a few auto-bans in the past from subs I've never participated in. I'm obviously banned from all the main political subs, and even some that shouldn't be inherently political, such as r/news.

There are subs like conservative, libertarian, etc that manage to be pro-Trump and not violate site-wide rules.
But I do agree that we should get rid of some of the evil leftist subs like the snark subreddits that have harassed people to suicide.

I am not asking for any subreddit to be banned btw. I am just making it very clear that reddit is owned and managed by leftists who apply rules asymmetrically to benefit the left.

Let's also not pretend it's much different today. They've just swapped nazis for communists who celebrate the deaths of anyone loosely connected to wealth or capitalism, the race baiting never left, and man hating is pervasive in half of the default subreddits. I'd be shocked if they got rid of the candid photos of underage girls, too. Just because things aren't on their list of default subs doesn't mean it's off the platform.

Hey Luciom you realize reddit is a private company that wants to increase its stock prices and not some intellectual common, right? I thought we all agreed that capitalism is good and private companies are fine to increase their stock prices.
It becomes trickier with ISPs and security protocols denying use, but that’s clearly a different category than a website that sells ad-space.
