Stay away from 888Poker if you value your money, privacy and competent customer service

I've had enough of trying to reason with 888 so it's time to share a cautionary tale to protect other players.

1. I make a post on Reddit wondering why there are no options other than wire transfer for withdrawals yet you can deposit from 15+ providers without fail. Multiple people chime in and mention that's pretty sketchy(no ****). A 888 rep messages me and says all you need to do is deposit with the desired withdrawal method which in my case is MuchBetter. I make the minimum deposit of $20 with MuchBetter. It shows up as an option. Fantastic. At least that's legit.

2. I go to verify my ID which has never been an issue anywhere but my ID has a typo in my first name (I still pay speeding ticket, taxes, I still get approved for loans, Bank recognizes the ID regardless). 888 ACCEPTS the ID as verification and CHANGES my name to include the typo without notifying me of this change.

3. I put in the withdrawal. 48 hours later the withdrawal is declined. MuchBetter has now been removed from my withdrawal list. I contact live support who tell me to check with MuchBetter. I contact MuchBetter they have no record of any attempt to deposit.

4. Turns out the phone number on my account is not even correct anymore to go along with my name? I go to change it back and I'm not receiving any verification text. I wait 24 hours. I attempt to change it again and again no text message so my name and number are incorrect and they will not do anything about it.

5. I'm now over a week into back and forth between Reddit, live chat and email. I contact support@888 who tell me to verify my ID and address in order to WITHDRAW. I message back and tell them my information was changed without my consent and that is the reason I am messaging. They tell me to upload my ID again and start the entire verification process over. I upload an ID with the correct spelling and a letter from my bank with my address and name spelled correctly. They message back and say there is a shine coming off the plastic on your letter and therefore it's not accepted. I again re-upload without the magic shine that they somehow couldn't read. They then request "a full copy of your bank statement, as this is required for submission to ""our team"" for approval. Please ensure that at least 70% of the statement is clearly visible, including your name, account number, and relevant transaction history"

Now I'm getting pissed. I can eat part of the initial responsibility for using my drivers license with a typo. If that was the issue it should never have been accepted. But to accept it and change details on my account... Now they want to see account numbers, transactions etc.

6. I've gone back and forth with them and they completely disregard everything I say. I ask why you need all my banking information to fix my 888 account information. They just come back with "In order to WITHDRAW" "In order to Withdraw, we need your banking information" this is "standard".

7. I message and said this has gone too far. It's unprofessional. My banking information from the very beginning has NOTHING to do with this entire transaction. I use MuchBetter to quickly move cash around to different sites and I do so without issue on every other poker site without fail. My personal bank account is not involved in any way shape or form in this transaction but is being used to hold my account hostage. Sure I can play on my account. I can deposit all day every single day. It's all good. Until it's not.

8. Finally..... no ..not progress. They hit me with the "You agreed to our terms and conditions" spiel. Done. It's not a lot of money so they can keep it. It would have been nice to be able to move some money around like I normally do for my bankroll challenge but my winnings belong to 888 now. Congrats guys. Enjoy

I'm done playing there. I know there will be trolls here to kick me while I'm down but I hope some of you are questioning the safety of this site. They may be known but that doesn't absolve them of sketchy practice. They want access to your accounts stopping short of asking for the password so far.
