LOL ESPN makes it sound like PLO is the illegal part.

Spoiler
Show

And yes, NLHE is dying.

Hope they all do serious time.

I don't think having home games is a big deal but it would be justice for stealing employees tips.

Gilbert Arenas earned more than $160 million in his NBA career. And now he gets arrested for the low-rent crime of renting out his house for a raked PLO game. Whether he was doing this out of financial necessity or stupidity, the only conclusion is LOL Gilbert Arenas.

Only one rule in the private game he will be playing, just don't drop the soap.

Lol do you have any idea of the kind of money they make working these games?

Seems unlikely that raking the game will be the biggest charges here

This is like supporting casinos taking 10% off stacks of winning players

I don't think your employer should steal your earnings even if you are an athlete who makes 8 figures.

They are also sort of stealing from the tippers who believe they are helping out an ordinary person rather than giving money to Gilbert Arenas.

Well at least the organizers of the game knew to play the great game of Pot Limit Omaha for some serious action.

When these girls are making thousands a night doing something that normally makes a few hundred a night they're happy to pay it. If they don't like it the game runners can get plenty more to take their place.

It's not stealing if you agree to it. The entire operation was illegal including the girls not paying taxes so it's not like they wanna hide behind the law.

I know dealers who made tons of money dealing a few nights a week in underground games. They had to kick back some to the house. That was their cost for making 10 times more dealing those games than in a legit casino. They weren't crying about it.

If a bar owner told me I could make 5,000 a night bartending but I had to kick him back 1,000 a night I'd be asking him to work 7 nights a week, not crying about his 1,000 a night cut.

When poker players are making thousands a night doing something that normally loses money they are happy to pay it. If they don't like it the casinos can get plenty more to take their place.

Its a pretty braindead take that falls apart immediately when applied to anything you actually care about

No. It’s like a private game full of fish where you have to kick back 10% to get in. Or you can go grind a normal game with all sharks.

You think he's gonna get serious jail time? Unlikely, maybe none. Someone else in the "group" will take the fall.

Probably been stealing tips at Chili’s for years now.

He’s not even a Z-lister at this point, plus he’s obviously busto, nobody’s taking the fall for him. He’s still enough of a name that DA’s going to want the scalp tho.

Over under on jail time served? Maybe we can get some wagers going.

Must be hard to be a Z lister these days, he's got a fairly successful podcast with over a million subscribers.

I couldn't give two ****s if he serves time or not, my previous post was tongue in cheek ffs.

I actually remember some stories of him playing poker when he was still in the nba. 2/5 nl-5/10 nl and when he would leave for the night he'd either splash pot his stack or tip it to the dealer.

Do have any idea how stupid it is to make your staff mad by shorting them a couple hundred bucks a night when you’re making thousands? Who do you think tipped the cops off, unless one of the players is going through a nasty divorce?

Plus it’s just generally a lowlife move. Never known anyone who did it wasn’t at least half scumbag.

Antoine Walker tipped big once upon a time too.

Making an arrangement with a game runner to exploit recreational players and performing labor in exchange for tips are not similar.

Yea you're right. You can lose in the game. The women were guaranteed to make lots of money.

Would you rather have 90% of 10k or 100% of 2k?

Right. Because they are working at a job rather than playing poker.

I get your opinion. If you make good enough money, your employer is entitled to steal from you.

I just don't agree.
