New York City Area Hype Discussion
Did a quick check but apologies if this already exists, also might be a little premature either way but- given the movem
Yeah, a friend caught that too, thought it implied she wouldn't be on it or picking someone but seems like that's not the case. Oh well. They only need 4/6 anyways
If CitiField gets the license I think Ramos may have brought an early end to her political career lol

Don’t think it’s a huge deal but not terrific for Citifield

Curious how you think it affects the Met Park?
Also, which would Met Park happening affect her career? They pretty much went above her head to get that done. More to my above question, but their ability to do so is an Albany thing, not a City Council thing, which is who killed Bally's proposal.
It seems like Cohen has approval from the State Senate and Hochul to alienate the parkland he wants, so the only card Ramos has left to play is getting more than 2 or the 6 on the panel to vote against the proposal, if I understand correctly
ramos is cooked. she torpedoed her career the minute she endorsed cuomo after spending months shitting on him. her challenger officially announced today, she's done, has no pull
Yeah, I agree with you. And there were whispers she only did it because her campaign was 2.5M in debt.
I would have to think, if true, that presents a pretty good opportunity for Uncle Stevie to slide in her DMs and get her paid off to drop opposition

I don’t think it’s a huge impact, but having an executive suspended for “shady money structuring practices” isn’t the best thing to have going on when you’re applying for a new casino.
And I don’t think Ramos can do anything to stop MetPark. Seems Uncle Stevie has removed all barriers , just has to bring it home.
I think the whole thing is terrible for Ramos’ career like I really wouldn’t be surprised if she’s done after this term. It’s just a bad look, she took a strong public stance against something happening in her district and the outcome revealed that she has no pull in Albany whatsoever. Before the alienation bills passed, it was repeatedly mentioned that while any senator/representative can put forward that bill, it’s usually only done by the rep/senator from the district involved. I’m no expert but it reads like if she held weight nobody , would have put the bill forward. Couple that with a mayoral run that was basically nonexistent, she just don’t seem to got the stuff

Yeah, I agree with you on that, she is not great and Uncle Stevie showed her who runs this town [emoji23]
Is there a good reason, other than the fact that they haven’t been bribed off yet, that we don’t have online poker in New York? We have poker rooms in New York, so it would Makes sense that we had the ability to play online poker. I can gamble my life away on sports betting if I wanted to, but online poker is taboo?? I find it so stupid where we can legalize marijuana, online sports betting, and other Vices. But online Poker is a No-no.
Good reason? Probably not.
It's not for lack of attempts at considering trying to think about it...just the doing it hasn't taken off. Maybe there's still just enough legislator opposition that Addabbo doesn't want to burn political capital on an attempt he's uncertain will succeed, or have a failed attempt set back the eventual approval.
My guess is they don’t legalize online until 2028 earliest. Later if Resorts world and Empire don’t get licenses. They probably want to give the downstate casinos a little time before they have to compete with online
I’d love to know the justification for allowing online sports betting in New York, but not allow online poker play play? To me they are two sides of the same coin. I just think there are a lot of pockets that were filled in the back room deals to get sports betting approved in New York.

Ofc, there's not a bunch of money behind getting online poker legalized which is why the train is moving so slow. Sports betting is a massive $$ maker on the other hand

Why'd we have OTB and lotto forever but no casinos sportsbooks etc? Why do most states have online sports betting today but very few have casinos or poker.
None of this **** has ever made sense.

Not dead yet? Adams vetoed.
Exciting to think in 2 months, we'll know which proposals made the first cut, and in 4 months and a few days, we should know who gets the licenses
My money's still on Empire City, Resorts World and Hard Rock, but I would love to be wrong and get a Manhattan casino

In support of getting ahead of ourselves, we should have a 2+2 celebratory lunch or shots or something when the first casino opens

I could see NY buying into new resorts in Queens and the Bronx to pander to the construction industry and the benefits of renewed neighborhoods. But I'm not sure how they sell the idea to Empire City.
NY is SO bad at expanding vice activity - sports betting is limited to 4 licences and had their tax rates jacked up. Dispensary locations were screwed up by the state and NY is covering up to $250,000 each to force the business to relocate.
If online poker is legalized I guarantee you that NY will circle back with higher tax rates that will ruin the business.

Something tells me that they are going to approve the Jay Z proposal for Times Square.. just a feeling.
But the biggest question is how many years will it be before I can sit at my first poker table in NYC or Queens??

Resorts World said 6 months, Empire City said 18 months, Caesars said 4 years and claimed all other proposals would take longer excluding the first two mentioned.
Considering poker won’t be a priority, hoping for some time 2026 at RW and some time 2027 at EC is probably optimistic
