Covers Only
Hell, I don't know why I keep seeking out cover versions, but here goes. Post your favorites here.
This is another song that most don't recognize as a cover.

That's a good cover - just as good as the original...
Much better than the original imo, thanks mainly to Steve Gorman. The Robinsons’ new drummer is not good imo. Makes Peter Criss sound like Buddy Rich.
I guess a lot of people under 40 wouldn’t know it was a cover, Crowes definitely made it their own.

SHOCKINGLY, I have found this to be true.

Covers by Florence and the Machine are reliably interesting.
This is a very beautiful version of Sweet Jane.
And for something a bit more rocking -- a student cover of Waiting Room by Fugazi that is a lot better than you will expect it to be.
You like Fugazi? You're cooler than I thought. π
That was awesome. It's cool that we get see great covers like that, by non-pro musicians. This is the other end of the spectrum in some ways, but the same idea.
This cover succeeds on several levels. When I listen to the song and ignore the video, it's really good, and when I watch the video and ignore the song it's really good.
Which reminds me, in the 1950s and 1960s there was something called The Great Artists Correspondence Course ("LEARN TO DRAW!") which actually produced some remarkable artists. If there had been a Great Photographers Artsy Photography Course, and if I could have paid for it with my paper route money, there's no telling what path my life might have taken.
btw, i asked ChatGPT who the first person was to set up a typewriter on a public street to write poetry to order, and it said Robert Gibbons.

One of the JD Salinger short stories is about a guy who ends up teaching the course and becomes increasingly obsessed with the artwork of a nun with whom he corresponds.

Tip: Unless it's been removed, digital images have metadata that stores a lot of info about them - it varies from browser to browser how to access them (you can always open the picture in an image editor to view them also), but with Vivaldi, you can right click the image and select 'image properties...'. (Not sure how it works in other browsers, but would think most of them has a way of checking it out.)
It'll show you what the picture was taken with, the settings (aperture, shutter speed etc) and even the location it was taken.
In this case:

This is wonderful, but how can a phone have an ISO? Are there silver halides in there with little jumper cables attached to them?
Btw I'm impressed with the iPhone
It's works similarly to film iso - just instead of having a film with a given iso, it changes the light sensitivity of the digital sensor that captures the image.
The principle is the same - the higher the iso, the brighter the image, at the cost of more noise.
