Say what you want about Doug but the guy is an incredible business man.

Does upswing earn a lot ?

Coinflex ended up being insovent and a borderline rug pull.

I thought he has acknowledged the Lodge hasnt yet been profitable?

I agree he has proven to be business savvy through his social media growth but what examples are you referring to that make him incredible at business?

Not a doug hater (he's the least funny dude ever but there's a charm to it and he his takes are usually pretty reasonable) just genuinely curious what other business dealings he has.

kudos to him for finding the real money in poker, make some training site, somehow get people to pay a lot for the courses, sell to some big corporation for more money than it's worth (I'm sure they did), laugh at the rest of us.

I have *no* idea why wptgold would buy it.

He was early to market for training sites using the module format, seemingly blew RYE out of the water and within a short period there were a bunch of borderline copycat offerings. Now he’s exiting as the poker training market seems to be stagnating and over saturated.

added a comma for effect.

Doug is probably buying a yacht right now.

First I was about to reply no, but then I thought about it and I have actually seen a yacht on Lake Meade. Although most probably looked at what I saw and said, "damn that is a big houseboat."

I like Doug, he was my first lesbian boyfriend.. A solid dude.

Damn. Can we play 89s UTG after this?

Would love to see where he says this? The Lodge was the absolute dominant force in Austin poker for years, and they expanded into San Antonio and were looking elsewhere to grow. Doesn't make much sense if you have a business losing money over years of operation to expand it?

Now, in the past year they've lost significant market share to TCH in Austin and I believe in San Antonio there was SA Card House that was giving them some competition, so they don't have a monopoly on players/action like they had grown accustomed to.

Any idea how much was it sold for?

'bout 350

Great for Doug and his team. We always considered him to be an extremely talented person, and it'll be interesting to see what his future holds. But from what I read, it still sounds like he'll be involved with Upswing poker, perhaps in a somewhat different role.

Paying for a subscription for a poker training site in 2025 seems like an insane idea considering all of the free resources available.

Good on him for cashing in. Doug is fantastic at marketing. His AA vs KK hand in the wsop was hilarious.

I was considering buying upswing but Doug deemed several of my posts in this site questionable. He said my character was below the standards he set for upswing. Also, I'm broke.

more crucially, he was the first person to market a training site as a fun experience for losing players rather than a money-making scheme. All training sites before Upswings were basically exclusively marketed at pros

Doug's best contribution to the poker world - without a doubt - "Poker Hands", which were free videos on youtube where he explained how to play poker.

his best set of contributions were definitely these

It's more amazing that Ryan Fee can become so wealthy literally not doing anything. Some of those early poker pros just are so lucky in life even outside poker.

He probably just took whatever free coins they gave him to shill coinflex, worked out fine for him just not his ardent supporters if any of them bought coins because of him.
