When the first split-off forum was being set up, a blacklist of posters to ban on sight was discussed. Ikestoys and chezlaw were both on it with others I've forgotten about too.

Ikes subsequently appeared on UP under a new handle (CafffeineNeeded) and after a long while, when they finally realised it wasikes posting pro Dem opinions they allowed him to carry on posting and the vainglorious fools ended up venerating the racist shite, slapping themselves on the back for having converted him from Repub to Dem.

As I have said since 2008 in here, I think that hiveminds are really really bad. You dont want bigots or racists/extremists, but you also dont want 98% of people to agree on the same thing cirlce jerking each other off.

thats why I was glad to see Inso and grizy posted when they did, they are moderate maybe moderate left but def not too far gone in one direction or the other. needed that more in here and wish I saw that more here

it does suck when certain sites are just consumed with the same thinking like the politics subreddit is as well as some others I won't mention that just e-jerk or mentally masterbate to each other ad naseum on very similar ideas. that is for concise subreddits not overall ones

In order to seek out heterodox / oppositional views, you have to first realize that the most reliable path toward a meaningfully improved future is the one where you expose yourself to challenge.

Which means you have to first develop the ability to consider the future consistently, rather than simply be floating through life on autopilot.

Further, when you consider the future, you have to be optimistic enough about your own future (without being naively delusional) to where you are willing to face challenge and delay gratification — while at the same time acknowledging you don’t know enough and need to seek out opposing views.

And you have to willfully avoid the never ending temptation of the easier path: “Maybe if I form a coalition of enough like minded people, we can bring about the improved future together and I can avoid the path of challenge and growth.”

When you consider all of this, it’s understandable why there are so few people who are able to voluntarily and consistently engage in good faith political discussions across the aisle.

Alternatively, if you’ve already faced the challenge enough and integrated both sides of the spectrum, then you can engage in heterodox political discussion much more effortlessly.

Which is why these types of discussions skew older (and male).

If you make rapid posts constantly it should lead to a ban. Nobody with a sound mind does this.

So what happened exactly here? is the moderation admitting my defense of the free speech of nazists (in the countries where the 1a or equivalent exist ofc, we were talking reddit which is under american jurisdiction) is absolutely crystal clear allowed content? because i am not backing down from the idea that nazists do deserve to have places to be openly nazists.

It's actually better for us, law enforcement can monitor them far better, create dossiers on them, and be ready to use state violence as required the instant they break actual laws.
