It's not hard to behave in a way that won't lead to a ban, but there's a good chance of getting one for expressing a viewpoint. I've seen bans just for arguing that a specific viewpoint should be allowed, not even supporting it. So with that, it's hard to avoid bans if one wants challenge norms and express profoundly unpopular viewpoints — not limited to those forbidden in the

I think many posters have a misconceived notion of the moderation though. Many who whine don't seem to understand that they would just be banned if the politics forum ever shut down. Many are only here by the grace of the mod team, and I mean CN, King Spew, and others before me, not me.
I would assume zers has a previous account. It would be quite unusual for the 2p2 politics forum to pull new users. The list of reasons for new accounts is pretty small, especially these days.
But we can address a couple things here:
1. Eugenics is a banned topic. This is because we defer to the current scientific consensus that Eugenics is pseudoscience. People like Luciom aren't experts and thus have no voice on the subject especially because his opinion is also a common dog whistle for abject racism.
2. Promotion specifically Nazi ideology is a banned topic. This is because its mostly illegal to do so all over the world and its an objectively dangerous world view.
Outside of those two topics nobody has caught a ban in a long time that I am aware of that wasn't tied to posting exclusively insults
And its not lost on me that this current wave of whining about the moderation is seemingly in response to Luciom, the guy who has been on the permaban chopping block for a year and a half, getting unbanned

There is a small flaw in your story: I absolutely, positively do believe and understand why I was banned, and I think given the House Rules they were correct in doing so. And I've said this several times, you lame-brain.

Fact is hating immigration deeply and in what you guys consider "extremist" ways isn't "profoundly unpopular". A candidate for the presidency running on "we will deport every single illegal" won the elections. Afd is the first party in german polls. Meloni governs in Italy after campaigning for years against how immigration is a wound on our country. 58% of italians wanted a COMPLETE BAN ON ANY ILLEGAL BOAT LANDING IN ITALY in a poll in 2023 including being willing to use the navy to sink any boat trying to bring asylum seekers in.
Poland politics are between an actually extremist righwting party, and a "moderate" rightwing party which passed a law allowing militaries to shoot to kill trespassers on the border.
I got a temp ban (first i got i think?) because i called TRASH the criminals who immigrated illegally in Italy lol (it's a crime to illegally enter Italy, as it is in many countries). That's a majoritarian view in my country and in most other countries.
Btw you are completly factually wrong about the current scientific consensus about eugenics. Aborting down syndrome fetuses is eugenics for example. That's uncontroversial, ask any expert, ask any well educated person even in other field, ask rococo or ecritude if you don't believe me.
What you might mean is something else, that you believe that racial differences in traits have 0 genetic determinants. That's not the consensus either, but it is on the cultural left which is the only voice you are willing to listen to for any topic.

I didn't claim 1a was being violated on reddit, read it in the thread. I claimed it was better when nazis and mysoginists were allowed to write there.
Now that said there is the topic of section 230 which... if you want the privilege to lose legal responsibility for the content your platform carries, it would make sense that doesn't allow for curation of content at all. If you curate content then you should assume the legal responsibility for that content.
